  1. Bluecoats didn't field for a couple seasons and still celebrated their 50th in 2022. Heck, they called 2018 "Session 44" because it was their 44th season on the field, even though it was their 46th year of existence.
  2. Unfortunately, I still can't go. OC Prelims is the same night as Innovations in Brass, which is my home show, and now there's an all-age show in Columbus ON MY BIRTHDAY the same night as OC Finals. What's ironic is that OC Championships are the closest they've ever been to me.
  3. Bluecoats Alumni rehearsed at IWU the day before semis in 22, and, boy, we got more steps in walking from place to place than on the field.
  4. They were still active as a mini-corps at DCA prior to the merger with DCI.
  5. My wife and I are both Civ players, and the theme songs he's written for two of those games (Baba Yetu for Civ 4 and Sogno di Volare for Civ 6) are spectacular in their own right. That he took those two songs and created song cycles from both (Calling All Dawns and To Shiver the Sky), winning Grammys for Baba Yetu and Calling All Dawns in the process, is incredible. The Drop that Contained the Sea, from which Temen Oblak, Crown's 2019 opener comes from, is also an amazing album. Calling All Dawns The Drop that Contained the Sea To Shiver the Sky
  6. I got lucky and received one of those original batch sets for Christmas that year.
  7. Glassmen held a Monte Carlo poker event twice a year (February/March) on top of their Bingo operations. Members were expected to work one or both of the Monte Carlo weekends as these were major fundraising opportunities for the corps. During my marching years, we made those weekends 24/7 events, so we'd have members sleeping in the non-smoking room and working in shifts as dealers. I got good enough that I would work the Texas Hold 'Em tables as that's where the high stakes players would go.
  8. Everglow was an evergreen moment that season, especially at Prelims when they went on without a warmup and laid down an incredible performance.
  9. Yeah, and they definitely didn't believe in time limits. 😄
  10. I just remember doing that show with Statesmen and then getting on the bus to take a nap after getting out of uniform, only to get shocked awake when one of the guard members ran on the bus to scream that we won. I don't remember doing an encore, so I woke up for nothing. 😄
  11. bluecadets.org is available. https://www.hover.com/domains/results?q=bluecadets.org
  12. Not that I would know ANYTHING about this, but there is free and open source software out there which can rip audio files from YouTube videos... 👀
  13. While I am adding myself to my list of Christmas corps, I think you’ll agree that this Christmas album should be on any drum corps fan’s list.
  14. Good morning, everybody. I am pleased to report that the transfer to DCP’s new servers was successful and everything is up and running again. Thank you for your patience. Kevin
  15. This was the first time Carol Of The Bells was used as a full musical selection, and Crown used it to full effect.
  16. There is a partial video I found on YouTube of the 85 Bridgemen show. I'll need to check it out.
  17. If you start watching the 1996 Bluecoats at 11:49:22 PM tonight, they’ll sing Auld Lang Syne when 2026 begins. Start your new year off RIGHT.
  18. I’d say that’s a good reason not to know. 👍
  19. I have a soft spot for this show as Colts and Glassmen, where I marched, made our first DCI Finals appearance together in 1993. We even tied at Semis! https://medi-nerd.com/2022/12/16/12-days-of-drum-corps-1993-colts/
  20. Bumping the Christmas spirit.
