  1. No HS or corps affiliation; rather college and involved in independent percussion ensembles and private studies. Taking time off of college and traveled to experience the American drum corps activity with the Kilts. Last year the corps had a wonderful gent (Ady) from England, in 09 we had a student from Japan on contra and in 06-07 a young man from Japan on snare. Plus several Canadian contingents on and off over the years.
  2. Other: Top Priority---loyal and dedicated membership base. Without a strong dedicated membership, all the rest is moot.
  3. What may be more interesting, would be performing by random draw order at quarters and semis.
  4. Had the chance to stop by several of the camps and observe during the off season, including a road trip and stopping by for a couple hours this past weekend---nice stuff happening! Organized, well planned, focused, laid-back just do the job approach, etc.----stuff that encourages and breeds confidence and a positive experience. Keep it up!!
  5. Hmmmmm? If one agrees 200% when rationally 100% is the highest limit possible; does that leave the extra 100% as a carry-over floating inventory to apply towards other opinions? It's somewhat like when you ask a person "a penny for your thoughts?" and they offer you their "2 cents worth"-------------do you owe them a penny back? Man, life is confusing. As my Mother would fondly say to the kids, "Your better start behavin' or I'll cut off your head and throw it in your face!!"
  6. Life is simply too short for "cryptic"...................... The last time someone was cryptic in my presence was when they said "I know somethin' you don't know" to the boss. The boss said "....and I know somethin' you don't know..............you're FIRED!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNX_wGyKhmM
  7. 1) The desire of an organization, "if" that is their intent and goal. Some organizations are satisfied where they are, knowing more may be overwhelmingly burdensome and risky. 2) Lots of MONEY.
  8. Kilties........... http://www.kilties.org/index.php/news-archive/74-kilties-release-2016-schedule
  9. Because they simply choose not to. If the membership and an organization itself (as a whole) is having an uplifting and positive experience within the Open Class tour model/environment, things are financially achievable, stable and sound with things going relatively smooth to insure a strong future---the organization has made the proper decision for "themselves"; nothing else matters.
  10. AD relaxing at home........................... https://cdn.d23.com/cdn2015/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/goofy-gallery-02.jpg

  12. They would first need to know what a cost-benefit analysis actually is; which is highly unlikely. One has a better chance of nailing water to a tree trunk than understanding the reasoning of their decision. Most kiddies running a lemonade stand have more business sense than these particular university boneheads.
  13. If I recall, the live streaming was supplied through and/or in conjunction and/or cooperation with the DCI Fan Network. so............it could be deemed a system wide issue within the whole activity itself, not simply DCA. A domino effect, of sorts.
  14. Except the athletic program is incompetent and full of buffoons. One year they lost thousands and thousands of dollars selling $8 cups of tap beer to the captured patrons of a football game!!!!
  15. He's no longer marching....he's doing narration. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/02/02/article-2550330-1B24128D00000578-780_634x500.jpg
  16. This whole thing is utter nonsense---because of one knucklehead coach, not only does the university lose thousands and thousands of dollars-----the local economy takes a huge hit and loses revenue; restaurants, hotels/motels, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. etc---------AND the local government itself loses by not being able to collect items like room taxes, local taxes, etc. etc. All for the ego and personal pocketbook of one coach and the university earning a whooping 600 bucks. That's what happens when an institution of higher learning has actually no one, whatsoever, with practical business experience and is used to "playing business" with taxpayers money, they do not have any clue on the "real" world..............I like to fondly call them "imitation executives"..............as useless as tlts on a boar pig.
  17. One could say that if there was a meeting of the minds and an informal paper trail establishes that said meeting of the minds and intent....a legal covenant was created and moving forth was the expectation. As example, a proposal for marriage with an agreed upon wedding date can be viewed as a covenant, hence if one party breaks that covenant all the while the other party made monetarily preparation, announcements, etc. for the wedding event based off that covenant; the party who broke the covenant would be financially liable to pay the non breaking covenant party for the output of those expenses; plus any other potential damages....including punitive.
  18. Obviously to match the Anderson plaid and blue battlejackets The Kilties once donned!!! Thanks!! http://footage.framepool.com/shotimg/178820489-kilties-drum-and-bugle-corps-wisconsin-drummer-trumpet.jpg

  20. Had you placed an ashtray on your case and a pack of smokes in your pocket................. .................you maybe could had been on lead right outta the gate!!!!
  21. When the Kilties were first founded in 1934 the format was "all boys" with the age range from 8 to 14 years old----throughout the history of the corps; the age limits changed, "all boy" went to all male, all male went to coed, all male over 21 when the corps formally re-emerged in 92, to co-ed in guard in 99, to full coed in 2000, with formally lowering the age (from 21) in the fall of 2002.
  22. It's fairly challenging in the Midwest as well, within a distance of 1 to 4 hour radius and drive time of Racine, as example, there are over a dozen options---all-age/DCA (Kilts), area DCI corps, summer marching band competitive circuit, alumni corps, etc.
  23. The Kilties have been under the 18 year old requirement for well over 10 years, with (of course) parental and/or guardian permissions, etc. The corps encourages family members to become involved together---on and off the field.
