  1. Thanks everyone. I am good on tickets at this point. Thanks for the responses and enjoy the show.
  2. Looking for min 2, possibly 4 decent seats (not nosebleed and not outside the 35 yl if possible). Thanks!
  3. I'm not opposed to change, but few things are right from the get go so if you get it right roll with it. 70, 100, etc etc. Who cares.

  5. I don't even understand what long overdue means. Why change? The unis were awesome. I mean awesome. They weren't losing to Reading because of the unis anymore than anyone else was.
  6. I've never seen a Caballero look like that. :) lol.
  7. Cabs unis.....ooooof. Pass (based on these pics). Lifelong Cabs fan. Thought last year's were actually very sweet. These are very disappointing based on the pics in this thread.
  8. Still need a pair of tickets for tomorrow night. Fred.......if you haven't unloaded the finals tickets ill take em. Let me know. Thanks.
  9. bump........bump.......bump.........bump,bump,bump........bump......bump.....bump,bump,bump. :)
  10. Yeah I saw that. I agree. I was surprised at how many tickets were available in that next level.
  11. Hey Gary! lol. Yeah......wink, wink. Hope I'm not a jinx. Either way we'll have a good time! I'm sure we'll come across something. Thanks for keeping an eye out. See ya there!
  12. I am looking for a pair of VIP tickets for DCA weekend. Thanks!
  13. Uhhhhh...........hold the phone......for those of us who don't live in the Northeast...........Reading opens the season up by less than .5 a point and all we are talking about a week later in this thread is Frank playing from the sideline! Come on! What happened at the show? Is Hawthorne hot? Did Reading show up with 40 horns? This hasn't happened in 10 years I bet........what's the verdict after two weekends? lol. I need to know! Usually 8 days into the season we are all talking about wrapping the trophy and handing it to Reading already! lol. But seriously, can somebody give the rest of us some details ? Thanks :)
  14. You're thinking too much. You intimated to me that I was missing something because the Buccs were spectacular this year. The other guy was basically pointing out to you that this is par for the course for the Buccs. They aren't anymore spectacular this year than any other of the last 8 years where they've ultimately scored the same regardless of panel, show, etc. etc. I would prefer somebody like MB win because, for me, they do a better job of marrying difficulty, accessibility, and listenability than does Reading. I'm a fan. I enjoy some corps more than others and would like to see the ones I enjoy win. It's hardly silly. In fact, I think I even said I'm sure Reading probably deserved to win.
  15. I think what he's trying to communicate is that Reading isn't anymore spectacular this year than last year or the year before or the year before that etc. etc. on back to 2005.
  16. They've been spectacular for the last 8 or 9 years, they're just not my cup of tea.
  17. With all due respect to Reading who I am sure deserves to win, to say I'm tired of watching them win would be a great understatement. Watching them for me is liking watching a Joe Satriani concert. Its great, but after a quarter of the show is over I'm people watching and have lost interest. They just don't move me.
  18. Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw the other day.......Listening to the ######### Hawthorne show is better than a great day at work.
  19. Well.....since you are doing Ozzy, I have to mention that I have always wanted to hear a drum corps play Sprial Architect by Sabbath. Give it some thought for me would you ? lol. :)
  20. Buccaneers: Set the bar higher - pure class - probably the greatest DCA winning corps over the years... surpassing Hawthorne Caballeros... Tom......I haven't commented on this website in probably two years, but while I am sure you have forgotten more drum corps than I know, I have to disagree with you on this one point. On a scoresheet, sure......but ultimately, the Cabs, according to Corpsreps, first played Espana Cani in 1957. I'll bet my kids lives on the fact that in 2065 we won't be showing up to the DCA Alumni Corps Spectacular watching a Reading Alumni Corps playing anything this year's corps played, let alone will that corps bring the house down. This year is the first time in over 10 years I haven't come up for DCA's. Part of that is because my wife is a BSU alum and we decided to go to the Georgia Dome to see the BSU UGA game. But a large part of that was because I had tired of watching the same thing over and over again with Reading. Don't get me wrong....I have nothing but respect for the time and effort those involved with that organization have put in over the years. It's definitely amazing. However, I personally didn't find anyting particularly interesting about Reading during their run. I would rather watch Hawthorne, Empire, the Renegades, the Matadors, or the Skyliners (in their prime). Frankly, I'd rather watch the 79 or 80 "Buccs" than the current edition just because I never sensed the "new" Reading was doing anything I hadn't seen before somewhere else. That isn't a dig on them, it's more of a compliment to the other corps I mentioned who, in my opinion, wrote their own history by carving out their own style altogether. Congratulations to MBI.......I have been enjoying your shows at DCA's since 1985 and I am thrilled that you finally came out on top. Before somebody overreacts to this post, keep in mind that I understand why Reading has won everything they have won. I get it. I'm simply saying in my humble opinion, unlike other past champions, they didn't bring anytihng to the table in terms of "style" that will help me remember much of what they accomplished other than the record itself. We all remember Santa Clara marching through the tunnel and changing pants. We all remember Butch Anderson arriving in a limo. We all remember Garfield and the Zingali "Z-Pull". We all remember Hawthorne taking the field with that street beat and exiting with Espana Cani. We all remember Harvey Olderman. We all remember Centorino and Price with Rhode Island. We all remember George Parks and his mace. We all remember Pepe Notaro driving his own mace into the ground and his phenomenal solo work with the Hurcs. For me, this 6 year run of titles by Reading hasn't produced these types of moments and consequently, I can't view them like I view the other past champions (I know RI didn't win a title and I know SVC and Garfield aren't DCA :) ). Unreal execution.....sure.......memorable for me for anything other than the run.....no. Again.......JMHO. Maybe I just havne't paid as much attention to Reading as some others.
  21. I hope so. I almost didn't come to DCA's this year because I don't really enjoy "the race for 2nd". I enjoy the performances, but I like competition at least as much. Syracuse then and Reading now, to me, while absolutely awesome, are products and I have a hard time getting past that. I prefer trademarks like Hawthorne, Empire, Renegades, Skyliners (when they were Sky), Reading (Parks era) etc. I wouldn't even want to see Hawthorne win 6 in a row. For me, it gets boring to watch.
  22. This one. This is the one I want to see them play every year.
  23. lol. Yeah, I take Yngwie conversations seriously. With no emoticons, I read your post literally.
  24. I don't know how you would do it. To say I am an Yngwie fan is an understatement. I first saw him live in 1986 opening up for Triumph (Rik Emmett). I have since seen him another 5 times or so. He is absolutely unreal. He takes a lot of grief for some reason, but frankly, I don't care. Let he who has had an album grammy nominated for best rock instrumental by the age of 21 cast the first stone. Ignore the hair if you can.......there's a lot of it. If you only have a minute, fast forward to the 4 minute mark and watch the next 1:30 or so. This is from his first album.
  25. Let's focus for a moment on fans going to their first show because somebody asked them to go or suggested they go........if its general admission for 20 bucks, I'm probably not showing up an hour early to sit around so I can get a good seat. Do I even realize before hand that if I sit outside the 35 yard lines I get a completely different experience than I do inside the 35s ? If its not GA, am I going to buy tickets far enough in advance to make sure I get "good seats" or am I going to pay the "extra" reserved seating pricing to get the good seats for something I don't even know if I like ? The problem I see with getting casual fans is that, for my money, you need to get good seats to get the full effect. If I am a first time fan and I don't have a lot of information prior to the show and I get dumped on the 20, or in the case of GA, show up late and have to sit on the 20, I'm probably not very impressed and won't go back. Unfortunately, you can't charge people 10 bucks for 50 yard line reserve seating either. That might dissuade people from giving it a shot on a Saturday night as well. I tried to say a lot and probably didn't get my point across, but hopefully I did. I went to see Paul McCartney in Atlanta this weekend. GA tickets were 90 a piece. Beers were 7 bucks. It was totally worth it, but it doesn't really matter where you sit in a park. Unlike the Fenway show (by the sounds of it), there were huge screens for everybody to see what was going on on stage. My point is that with limited seating available for prime viewing, drum corps is an activity in an interesting predicament when it comes to impressing first time fans.
