Royal Crusaders...so many good drum corps people down there Blue Rock.......we need a rep from Delaware Bleu Raeders Charioteers....add some more DCA South corps with these two Argonne Rebels....That area need to be represented
  4. I have to say Phantom Regiment 1973. I was sitting on the field at our show and MAN they were loud.
  5. Congrats! I remember competing against them in the 1970's. In fact I remember a show in Derry or nearby with us and the Precious Blood Cardinals and Royal Crusaders I believe were there too. How's my memory?
  6. Yes, in fact it would be cool to have a bunch of NYers with drum corps experience. I would like to be Heat Wave because the people are REALLY great!!! Just Like CRU!!! Stay in touch.
  7. Hey Donnie! Do you have a recent CD of Delbert? I am wondering if a friend of mine is playing, his name is Randy Quast, let me know. he was playing in the Boston area after he played with the South African Symphony (very briefly as it was back in the day). Thanks.

  10. ding ding ding ding...we have a winner!~
  11. Q: Were you a soloist back "in the day?" KH: Yes, my first was a Steve Coolley arrangement of "Make Your Own Kind of Music" that I remember marching OTL (Off the Line for the younger crowd) down the side line. In 1976 I played the solo in our concert number of "Porgy and Bess." I also played in the Mariachi band with the Crusaders. I Love Drum corps. more later...ask away LOL
  12. Is this the X iggy I used to chat with a few years back?
  13. Now who was the corps they knocked out of the finals? Do you know TX? I am sure you do, you know everything about drum and bugle corps, I'm sorry in your case drum and trumpet corps. St. Rocco's from Brooklyn, NY I believe the Lancers beat them by .1. Blessed Sac won the first WO by beating Garfield and St. Kevin's by over 5 points. CODI <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  14. LOL I am available for questions LOL To be honest I was bored with some of the things on here and so I just decided to do the "interview" because I saw other real interviews. It's all in fun.
  15. I just thought I would have some fun. Don't everyone get all upset. Thanks
  16. You have to ask the question...what city would be able to attract the most corps? Well Cleveland and Bloomington, Pittsburgh, Memphis. Don't go to far West.
  17. You don't have any DCI corps in New York State at all! Patriots were the only hope and they aren't back yet. :(
  18. Move the corps to Sarasota, FL and I'll do it! Rehearsals outside every camp
  19. Since I am such an avid fan of DCP and see my name so much her's an interview that I did with myself for all of you. LOL This is all true and ONLY FOR FUN don't get POed Q: Keith, what got you interested in drum corps? Keith: Well, I lived in an area of North Tonawanda that every so often you could hear music and drums being played. I would watch this "band" marching down the street. I thought some day when I got bigger I would be in that. By the end of 1969 I was a member of the Royal Coachmen along with a few of my cousins and had a great time marching in parades and competing in a few shows. Making finals at the Penn-York Championships was cool and then finding out that the North Tonawanda Public Library had an album of us and 3 other corps was cool. Q: Any memories of your early years that stand out? KH: Well, we weren't winning any shows from 1971-75. We could always be found at the bottom in NY contests. What was interesting though, when we competed in other states we seem to do better. We beat the Greece Cadets at the US Open in 1972 by 4 points but in NY they always beat us. Q: Favorite show? KH: I remember going to a show in 1971 or 72 in Batavia. Blue Rock was supposed to show but pulled out and was replaced by The Mark Twain Cadets. I recall Boston, 27th as well as St. Joe's being there. I guess the next big show was 1972 US Open. That was alot of fun and seeing all those great corps just sold drum corps to me...Anaheim,27th, Blue Rock, Kilties, St. Andrew's (triple tonguing), Garfield (War and Peace?), Bleu Raeders, Blessed Sac, Racine Scouts (tossing cymbals in the air), Purple Lancers I also saw "A" Class Finals with Royal Crusaders, Etobicoke Crusaders, Vagabonds, who I think won the show, Vestal Grenadiers, Charioteers, Belvederes and Opti-Knights. Q: Ever win a championship? KH: Yes, we won the 1976 NT Open Class "A" title. A memory I will treasure. Maybe it wasn't DCI or US Open but it was a championship and we did win. The whole day stays in my mind even today. I think we won a NY-Penn somethoing or other but don't remeber. Q: Corps rivalries? KH: Yes, Lakeview Shoreliners and then Imperial Regiment. They always had a decent corps. We beat IR at a show in Hammondsport, NY that was right on the shore of Seneca Lake, or one of the Finger Lakes. Q: What happened to all the corps in the Buffalo area? KH: DIED!!! Sad thing too, I was always hoping that someone would start something but after 1982 that was it. Our corps left in 1977 and then Imperial Regiment followed and then Frontiersmen. Most of the corps, junior-wise in NY folded by mid-1980's. Q: Did you admire anyone? KH: I admired people like Ted Key who was our brass arranger with RC in 1976. John Nolan, corps director with the Patriots. The Patriot staff members were great too Gary and Kay Hoyt, Brian Coughlin (here's a guy who didn't get the recognition that he deserved. Truth be told, from what I understand, he helped Ventures SECRETLY and helped them jump up...forgot the year). Mike Linton and Donny Allen with the Rochester Crusaders. Q: Why did you get out of corps? KH: I guess and hope it is only temporary. I didn't feel that I was contributing in Orlando AND more importantly I really, really love being with my wife more than anyone in this world. I would like to get involved again where I would have a say in the program. There are good people in this activity but ego's sometimes ruin a good thing. Q: Anyone else you admire? KH: I want to throw out Tom Peashey and Dick Hoppe's name. I've known Dick since 1972 and Tom as well and think the world of them. John Hathaway is a great friend and deserves alot for what he tried to do for the area. Unfortunately he's only on man. That is the end of the interview.
  20. Okay everyone...relax!! Western NY consists of Niagara, Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Wyoming, Orleans counties, I may have missed one or two but I do know that Monroe county IS NOT part of Western NY. Although I am from Niagara County I loved Rochester more than Buffalo. Playing the East End Fest with Power Company was so great, right next to the Eastman Theater. Thousands of people dancing and clapping...WOW, that was great!!! Two great Sr. Corps from Rochester too. Not one Junior or Sr. corps in the Western NY area. So "I'd Rather Be In Rochester" I remember being stationed at Seneca Army Depot, watching Rochester TV and hearing that commercial for being in Rochester. Plus, the first time I saw Watkins Glen Squires playing the National Anthem at 3 in the morning was soooooo cool!
  21. Queensmen from Kenosha, WI They beat the Muchachos to take 10th place in 1968 US Open It's a guess, I have no clue! Give me a clue...year, championship show, etc.
