Biggest messups in DCA history?
KeithHall replied to Gige's topic in DCA All-Age Corps and Alumni Corps Historical Forum
I made two mistakes in 35 years of corps and that was one. The other was in 1973 or 74 when our corps closed with Bread's "If" and the notes in my head head just disappeared until the last whole note. This happened at Sheffield, PA BEFORE they had the contest at the High School. Originally the contest was right next to the carnival and people stood on the hill and sidewalk to watch. The judges were on a Fire truck. -
What year did you attend

A lot of Youngun's here I guess. -
Watching the Broadcast at a sports bar

. Spare the facade of live TV, just put Rondinaro and Other Dude in a studio and treat it like a highlight reel. Meh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did he say,"the other dude?" Wow!!! Dennis Delucia was the architect to the Bridgemen drum line. I guess I am getting old. Names and tradition don't get handed down anymore. -
Biggest messups in DCA history?
KeithHall replied to Gige's topic in DCA All-Age Corps and Alumni Corps Historical Forum
I did that!!!! I admit. The year of the "will fix it later!" They fixed it at the last rehearsal before finals..I just did horns up and stopped like we used to do. I'll take the blame because it was my fault. Things were a bit screwd up that year anyways. I also was working with Heat Wave and missed the last run through. Oops. -
Is this a hint???? Crusaders Play the Greatest Hits of The Carpenters? WOW!!! Close with "Superstar" that is a beautiful tune. Other possibilities....."Top of The World", "Rainy Days and Mondays" Just some ideas. I have their Greatest Hits CD too

soloists on the front sideline.

I disagree with you!!! This has been going on for quite some time and up until the past month it wasn't a problem. The beauty od DCA is that very good players can participate....think about this, some of these people were marching in drum corps before you were ever thought of and now MAYBE they can't physically march so why put them out to pasture? Let them still participate. This post IS SO WRONG!!!!! -
What do you think MOM??? LOL Of Course GO CRU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You already made us proud by being a great competitive drum corps. Thank you!!!!
-
Popping back in to calm some of you down. Seems like some are misinterpreting what I was getting at.... DCI can and should survive but why can't there be something else offered? Why can't we see the return of the US Open, World Open, etc. Why does DCI have to be the only game in town? Can't there be another organization that caters to local/regional competition? Not to go against DCI but to "enhance" it. Make it easier for corps to stay a drum corps rather than fold away. Maybe DCI could come up with a plan. Just tossing some ideas out there. BRAINSTORM WORK TOGETHER Smile and shake hands, I Love all you drum corps vets!!!!

Gas Availability in Scranton?
KeithHall replied to notelvis's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Let's thank George W for this! Ever since he became the "almighty" we are put into a war we will never win, oil prices are up, 9/11, and reading levels havegone down...okay that was me adding that after listening to his speech yesterday...."the coach guard....coast guard..." I hope all is well and everyone gets enough gas to make it home. I know I went out at 10 pm last night and had to drive a few miles to fill up my car. I went home to get our truck and said, "forget it!" I believe I will be riding my new bike, that I got last year and rode two times, to work. BE SAFE!!!! -
I noticed that Marquis had beat Greece Cadets at A-I Open by over 2 points but moved to Open Class for US Open and placed 9th beating Argonne, Precisionaires and Southern Tier Grenadiers in finals. Did not compete in Philly though, anyone know what happened?

Safe traveling everyone, have fun but be responsible and enjoy!!!!! My best to ALL corps but especially Crusaders and Heat Wave.

Off the Wall Drum Corps Trivia
KeithHall replied to JimF-LowBari's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
I am guessing it was DeLasalle Oaklands and Etobicoke Crusaders! Yes? -
I should go with Imperial Regiment or Greece but I am going with the Charioteers
-
A Charioteer!!!!! Man your corps was one of my favorites!!! When you came to the NT Open you stayed at my high school and I watched your rehearsal...."Just You and Me" was so sweet!!!!
-
So why is this a problem? Hey if Steve Gadd is coming in make DCA a bigger name than GREAT!!!! Yes many corps do pay some of their players to play for the season...it's been going on. I believe that with Bingo's shutting down every where, the money won't be there as it used to be.
