  1. I just kissed the girl that was all!!!!
  2. The NT Open T-shirt was...white T-shirt with a boy sleeping under the tree with his uniform on dreaming of the first place trophy. The purpose of the tree being there was that North Tonawanda (NT) was known as "The Lumber City" on the Erie Canal. From NT they could ship lumber through the Great Lakes or east to Albany and NYC. The High School team is known as the Lumberjacks. The NT Open began when The Royal Coachmen brought in Phantom Regiment in 1973 to our show (Sights and Sounds of '73). All winter long the NT Open Commission worked to bring a national competition to western NY. Santa Clara was scheduled to show but pulled out. It was a decent show, but as drum corps died in western NY so did the NT Open.
  3. Getting ready to go to a party with a bunch of drum corps members. I cheated on my girlfriend that night and got Mono soon after.
  4. Geneseo Knights, Wausau Story, San Jose Raiders, Les Eclipse How's that?
  5. Just name the corps and what you remember about them. Charioteers......"Just You and Me" by Chicago PrecisionAires...Gold spats Wausau Story....Monkey walking in 1976 Royal Coachmen...our drum major Carleen, she was HOT!!!!
  6. Any of my old friends out there? Manny? Ulli? Michaela? Ullrike?
  7. Okay boys and girls...what stuff did you do that, as you look back, you say, "we did that?" I'll have to think of some stuff and get back to y'all. Have fun!
  8. I guess because it is so hot down here I can't think of stuff. Thank God the AC works in my classroom.
  9. ...things to talk about? We seem to be a little slower these days in the Historical section.
  10. I'm so glad I started this thread. It wasn't meant to be a joke but serious. Yes he isn't the best but as Donny says, Bill has a HUGE heart and is very loyal to the activity and to the Crusaders. SALUTE
  11. Oakland Crusaders supposedly had this to deal with problems in the corps...true or false?
  12. LOL, We had this rather large girl who held the American Flag (when she showed up) who was nicknamed "Cupcakes." Also "Crackers and Crumbs" which I won't get into We had a timpani player (when we used to carry them called "Jacque Strap" he wore a Billy Jack hat. "Sudsy" for obvious reasons. Suds marched a year with Phantom and wrote "Bohemian Rhapsody" for Wausau Story in 1976.
  13. I don't have a nifty colored pic or a B&W pic of "Mello Yellow" Seneca Optimists
  14. Although I had been in drum corps for a mere 6 or 7 years, Ted Key from Canada really made me enjoy drum corps more than I thought. He was a true educator. Before that we had guys who weren't really teachers. Ted made me appreciate playing my horn (or trumpet). Thanks Ted!!!
  15. So far Madison is in the lead....keep voting!
  16. This is a make believe contest so pick the winner and watch who comes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. This could be fun, like a fantasy thing.
  17. I included Patriots too because they did win DCI Div II. I also felt that they were successful from the late 70's until 2 years ago. From mid-80's on I guess you could say they were NY State Champions so that was almost 20 years. If there was a NY Championship they would certainly be the champs for more years than the other corps. Financially speaking, they were more successful than any corps in the state.
  18. There are so many success' above...Purple Lancers are the only NY corps to make Open Finals, Greece was the first A Class Champs, St. Joe's were great for many years, Squires, Avant Garde.....who to pick? Have to go with St. Ignatius due to longevity, championships and consistency.
  19. There are so many success' above...Purple Lancers are the only NY corps to make Open Finals, Greece was the first A Class Champs, St. Joe's were great for many years, Squires, Avant Garde.....who to pick? Have to go with Joe's here.
  20. Since this is historical I listed older guys NOW I know I left people out and I apologize so if you have others please name them.
  21. Sorry to not list some corps. L'Insolite were very good too as were Acadamie Musicale...my sincere apologies.
