What Made The 70's, 80's And The 90's SO GOOD
KeithHall replied to Walter's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
Even today, my old corps gets together for "reunions" and it's good to see everyone and see what they're all up too. Nowadays everyone in , say SCV, live in different states so getting together is a bit more difficult. In NY, every weekend had a show. We might go to Rochester, then to Oswego then to Batavia, then to Fulton, then have our own show. Maybe go to Cleveland, then to Kitchener then to Dunkirk, etc. Yes we would see the same corps and sometimes a corps from another state would be at a show. Oh, and then we'd all go to Butler, PA then Marion, OH and to Lynn, MA for the big shows. End the year at the DCI Championships. It was all good back then. -
What Made The 70's, 80's And The 90's SO GOOD

Looking back I think the thing that was so great about 70's corps was the fact that many corps were "neighborhood corps." We all were from the same area, so we hung out together. Home and home shows ruled. We will never see that type of drum corps again. -
Donny, Airtran is actually cheaper and flies out of Sarasota. I am going to do a Jazz Camp at school here 3 days a week for June and part of July. I would have to see what my wife thinks. Money is tight with car payments and child support. It may be possible. You can reach me at 941-780-4561 during the day until 2 pm. Sometimes I have it on if I go out too. When I say I miss you guys I mean it. I think the one rehearsal that you and I worked well was actually that Heatwave rehearsal last year. Plus we work well all the time anyway. Wecan chat by phone and talk things over. Keith

Congrats to Timmy!!! My son has a Solo & Ensemble Festival in Wisconsin in 2 weeks and he's really excited about it. Funny thing is....he hated marching band and now he likes it. He hated practicing his trumpet...now he likes it. He's always hated drum corps...is there a chance? He's sitting in Tomah, between Madison and LaCrosse. Hey Cru, I said a few prayers for the corps because I really want you to come back and do extremely well this season. I wish I could afford to do the season with you Oops, have to go, I hear "Laughter In The Rain" by Neil Sedaka

Did any of you get to keep your uniform?
KeithHall replied to apoch003's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
I still have the last uniform I wore as a member of the Royal Coachmen (NY). It was actually the uniform that the Seneca Princemen wore. My uniform would not fit me even if I lost 60 lbs. I treasure it though as it is a great memory in my life that I will never forget. -

Will Be Absent For A While
KeithHall replied to KeithHall's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
Am able to pop on and say THANK YOU to all of you! My brother is and has been Superman and is still holding on even though he can't really communicate. His left side is paralyzed and he sleeps alot but he is not ready "to go" yet. I will have to probably fly back up to NY again in the near future. I remember the day I found out he was going to be born, it was on a lunch break from drum corps rehearsal. Well, will post next week. Thank you ALL!!!! -
Have to leave for Buffalo in a few hours. My brother, who has has brain tumors since 1979 has taken a turn for the worse. He has been in a nursing home the past year. The doctors gave him a year a year ago and they are just giving him medication to keep him comfortable. I will be back on line after the 14th.

How about Wausau Story? I loved their show in 76 and thought they were going to be in open class the next year. Add Southern Rebels, Bleu Raeders, Florida Wave, Gauchos, Cadets of Greece, Charioteers, Memphis Brass Blues Band. So many.
