  1. Thanks for posting this John. Carol Bell was an AMAZING woman, with a love second to none for our activity. Your words capture her perfectly. I'll miss the smile and hug I'd get from her every time we crossed paths. I had the privilege of being taught by Carol in the early 90's in OC. She was one of 3 people who helped to shape my love and appreciation for music and the DC activity. Sadly now, 2 of them are gone, both taken away to early by Cancer. Thanks for the great times, the education, the laughs, and my Nickname. RIP Carol Bell Forever your friend and student David Raul "Roo" Wicken
  2. I'm pretty sure Dutch Boy actually comes from the Flying Dutchmen. They were the junior/ feeder corps for the Dutchmen- hence Dutch Boy. I don't think they had anything to do with the Grocery chain.
  3. Hello folks, I saw this message on Youtube this morning and couldn't help but think of DC. Kids, as the summer approaches, please keep this in mind. Protect yourself! To the moderators, I hope this isn't a violation. It's a PSA for melanoma
  4. Get it Grennies! This is going to be one awesome year for the corps. It's not too late to get on board.
  5. Much love to Dutch Boy. All the best on getting back to the field as soon as possible. There is a large void in DCI without you this year. Wow, Canadian competitive corps are all but gone. Truly sad
  6. My understanding is that issue is recording rights, not the actual performance rights. This is why Kiwanis wasn't on the DVD's.
  7. Just got back from Grennies first camp of the year! Wow, what a great weekend!!!! Everyone had a good time. The mood and attitude of everyone was awesome. Looks like it's going to be a year not to be missed! I encourage anyone looking to do some DC this summer to check out Kingston.
  8. T minus 1 day (and a few hours)! I can't wait, I'm really looking forward to an amazing year
  9. That is correct!- Dutch Boy went inactive, CoDB eventually changed there name to DB.
  10. Looking Good EPIC! The Shuker Brothers do know there ####! All the best this year!
  11. Right on!!! Always a big fan of the Blue Saints.
  12. Congrats Grennies! Truly a class act organization, with many amazing people on board. Happy 50th, enjoy the day and the season
  13. many great days loading and unloading that truck. Kind of sad to see.
  14. Jim, it's on the main page for Drumcorpsplanet. Hype, best of luck this year! Can't wait to see you on the field. I'll be cheering for you as always!
  15. YES, YES, YES!!! I just finished performing in a production of KISS- The music is absolutely amazing!
  16. A big applause for the Colt Cadets! Truly a class organization, who are doing exactly what Div II/III / Open class is all about. Best of luck this year!
  17. Neddy- A couple of the comments were directed at Dutch, but not all- some were towards other corps. But hey, that's OK. Tex- critisism is always welcome. A smart GE-based show, yes it was. High-school like, I wouldn't say so, playing the game and taking direction from drum corps of the past, doing it our own way- yes. Yes, we made a ship and flew it across the field at 180bpm. It was cool, the crowd loved it, and isn't that what Drum corps about, or should be about. That's what I teach my kids. Entertainment. But then again, hey didn't BD make a cross a few times on the field a couple years ago- gimmick? Fit the show? or Crown and Phantom using Heart formations in thier shows? The slow-motion stuff in Crown's show last year. The list goes on- Blatent GE is present at all levels, and usually always recieved quite well. As for "innovative shows", I'm not really sure I saw any particularly innovative shows in Div II/III last year, nothing really edgy and new- a lot of the same style stuff we've been seeing for years- Not that that's bad, because there were a lot of good shows last year. All the best to everyone in Open Class in 2008! Can't wait to see you on the field! *edited for spelling/ grammer (I'm sure there's probably some mistakes!)
