  1. yeah that's the new design yamaha uses for the freebie shirts for members. ... i liked the old one's better.
  2. that was an idea last year. this season, phantom and the cadets were supposed to have pilots shot for a reality tv show to be sown on A E. they used to do one on cheerleaders too, and the same guy's kid is in marching band and he showed his dad this great activity. there was a discussion on here about it last year... but, that was just a plan and i doubt it actually went through. anyone have any word on that?
  3. yeah you actually see that type of thing pretty frequently today. from a judging standpoint, that could create clarity issues. but it doesn't neccessarily mean the parts are any easier or harder. -christopher
  4. lot's of social relationships through out high school. started marching my freshman year of high school. at drum corps i was always the immature kid, then at school i was always the weird mature kid who didn't really fit in. on top of that, concerts, time with girlfriend, parties, random stuff like that. but, it was well worth every second of it. without giving those things up for drum corps, i never would've met my hero, moved across the country, be with my current lady friend, or have my amazing job working for a drum company. i'd say it balances itself out as everything in life usually does. -christopher
  5. you always just come off so friendly stef! anyways, i e-mailed dci asking the information and/ if it would ever be released and recieved no response. it's been over a month since i e-mailed. also, i posted asking if anyone else e-mailed and asked and a few people responded saying they had recieved no answer from dci either.
  6. i know bd has auditions there (brass only i think...) it wouldn't surprise me if more corps did. i remember in 02 there was a div 2/3 picnic at a local park... there was food, contests (frisbee, v-ball, bus pushing, and such) prizes were shirts and towels and the like for the winners and runners up. it was a ton of fun!! but... that was back during the old format for 2/3 ahhhhh the good ol' days. -christopher
  7. just throwing this out there... but then why did a lot of guard members appear to have mics?
  8. if you said that the day after finals or even a year after finals in 2000... i would've agreed with you... but seriously, go back and watch/ listen... the brass was not up to par with the rest of the corps, visually... not clean. but... i freaking love that show. my fav scv show of all time (with 04 in a close second) with that said... it placed where it should've.
  9. ha ha how does that equal screwed? they recieved the most votes, they're gone... that's the rules... please explain how they got "screwed"
  10. i certainly agree the early 90's were great for the crossmen, but i'm just saying, look at the top of dci, most corps admin. staff, and instructional staff have been working together for years sometimes even decades. i understand yea's logic (kind of) for all the change, but at the same time, you have to give people a chance to grow and learn in the activity.
  11. since about 2000 the crossmen haven't had the same corps director for more than 2 years same brass, vis, or perc staff for 3 years. how can you keep returning members if you are continually changing everything?
  12. i'm excited they're finally changing the uniform. the blue coats to me in drum corps are the ice cream equivilant to vanilla. it's good, i like it... but it doesn't really have anything flashy or spectacular that makes it unique. i'm excited about the change in uniform.
  13. just a costume change... there's no significance behind it or anything, he just took off the goat mask during an equipment change -christopher
  14. "dumbing down" the book and winning a title isn't very rewarding now is it? i would much rather get credit for playing a rediculously hard book and coming in second place than playing high school notes and winning a drum trophy by 4 tenths. but that's just me. -christopher
  15. true, i meant more of a "pointless beating" type of working hard. That the hard work you do is done intelligently with good merit. not out of anger. -christopher
  16. this was actually a huge problem i've had in the past. when the staff sets a list of "ok get this done in this amount of time" that shouldn't be the case (imho) i think getting done what needs to get done right the first time should take as long as need be, not cram everything in in one block. otherwise, much more time is needed to go back and reteach and clean. take time prior to rehearsal, prioritize what needs to get done and make sure what was taught is very clear between every member of the corps, and staff so no misteaching occurs. i'm sure that's not what you meant at all... i just saw it as another excuse to talk... -christopher (edit: premature post/ wasn't done talking yet.)
  17. i disagree, i find that generally, the higher you go in ranking, they work you smarter, not harder. (sans cadets... i've heard stories) bd, cavaliers, phantom, sure you have your rough days, and do training drill; but at that level, they expect that you can carry your own. the more you train before tour, the less you get your ### handed to you on tour. -christopher
  18. i thought 93 star was on there last time... and i also thought there was a rule about once it made it in the classic countdown, it would be inelligible the next year... -christopher?
  19. any one e-mailed dci asking if/when they were going to release the vote breakdown? i did this morning; haven't recieved a return yet -christopher
  20. i'm just curious why dci is taking so long to announce it themselves... it's been four days... i could understand if they wanted to throw together an article or something... but this is pretty big news, i would've expected it sooner... -mildly dissapointed.
  21. The real question on one is addressing, is how the hell are we going to fit 150 people on the jolesch bleachers?!?! for the love of god we can't even fit 135. jebus, did anyone take time to consider the people at jolesch?!? ok sorry, i guess i should've added some kind of stuipid face to show i was messing around... my b. -christopher
  22. i thought i heard something about the trombone being the loudest brass instrument due to it's shape? (serious question, i'm a drum guy) -christopher
  23. in recent years, can't beat bucs for listening pleasure. (imho) -christopher
  24. i'm curious stef... do you ever ask for directions, how about where things are at home depot? forums are for questions and discussions... and didn't i just read something from you in another thread about if you not liking it than dont read it? if your only reason to come into this thread was to knock on others, why not just not not not not not not read it... (that was rough) -christopher
