  1. the summer band international thing? was in the late 90's. it was a huge flop
  2. the paying for judges part is stupid. but really, the DCI corps left DCM in a no win position.
  3. here's the story: people didnt like it. they didnt go. they didnt join. it folded quickly.
  4. Mike please tell me how adding these new toys are for the kids. please, shower me with enlightenment on how this helps the kids.
  5. thats al;l great, but some of us like both and had to choose in January when the DCI schedule was out and the DCA schedule wasn't. who loses? honestly...DCA. those of us that like both already paid for Allentown.
  6. see i did choose in January.....when we really didnt know the DCA schedule. if East were another night, I'd so be at Scranton, but I already paid for the seats. my suggestion to DCA if possible, as Scranton and East have butted heads more than a few times: if possible, since your schedule comes out later, try to avoid scheduling close to Allentown that night. there is a portion of that Allentown crowd that would go to Scranton if not on the same night, especially with this lineup announcement.
  7. Mike..i accept the chamges were made......but THEY SUCK. so by making those changes, adding in things I have detested and thought useless in the band world for decades, DCI pushed me away. I dont pay to go see band shows. why? because of the usage f stuff like this. it isnt about the kids anymore, its about who has the greatest and latest toys
  8. when it hits page 300 on my settings i'll declare that Arnolds burned down, Richie moved away and Joanie loves Chachi
  9. no Mike. DCI made changes that made me not enjoy it nearly as much. I still went a few times to try and enjoy it. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. yet they keep pushing the changes on thru. i wanted to stay...their choices pushed me out. i dont pay to see that which makes me displeased.
  10. well, let's see what attendance looks like if they bother to post it. of course they'll blame the economy
  11. they're in the same place DCM is, Garden State is....you either play by DCI's rules or you dont survive. DCI took over junior drum corps the way WalMart eats retail competition....it did what it could to make sure it was all that was left.
  12. of course you can use G Brass. as Donny Allen pointed out, Pioneer was called out on it by judges.
  13. i went in open minded. i judge bands, i judge indoor. the lack of use despite the hype was shocking, and in most cases, it did nothing to enhance the show, and in many cases, it detracted from the show. here we are mid July and we still read reviews about balance issues. i mean come on
  14. i'm glad you like it. to me, the show would work BETTER without the electronics. they feel forced, crammed in there for the sake of having them
  15. actually instructors caucus was 10-0. never got to directors
  16. my take is right now everyone is going easy while they get used to it, and we'll see more and more
  17. they made sure to have distinct differences for decades. not, it's just one rule away from being the same. why the need to be what is already there? how many musical idioms go their own way and stay unique and are successful? many more than DCI
  18. you saw my Chambersburg review and you'll see my Allentown review. really...it's not worthit. it's a waste of money. we keep hearing of all these great ideas, and most arent doing anything but doubling parts from the field and the occasional cute effect
  19. unique isnt something already done somewhere else. it's called copying.
  20. actually dci making the changes they did have pushed me away. and many more like me.
  21. yet all the changes since 2004 showed a decrease in attendance in 06 to 07 ( no 08 numbers released...hmmm) and this was pre-recession. so what with the newest changes do you think will bring the fans in? band kids cant pay what die hard legacy fans can.
