  1. yes, because you dont realize that standing for 10 minutes will kill the visual scores, as well as hurt the comp numbers on the music sheets as it relates to simoueltaneous responsibility
  2. telling them you can see they arent done isn't giving them benefit of the doubt points. have you ever judged GE? if you look at Cap Reg last year, your guard question is answered. their guard got killed well into July in all visual areas.
  3. Meyers HS, Wilkes Barre. more judges than fans if i recall
  4. partof the problem also is the director's full time job moved him 6 hours away. I guess, at this time, Western PA isnt ready to support more than one corps
  5. and you moved a lot more than most did back then. if we had been able to put our pit with your battery, game on!
  6. and this is where DCI actually does something right in regards to D2/3.....seperate sheets.
  7. either way, your bass line's last run on the stacks is still to this the day the cleanest bass run I have ever heard in any circuit
  8. Don't blame DCP, blame the person who made the poll....they put those options up
  9. ya know, for all the #####ing people did about DCA's ticketing, seems like they need to notice this...DCI is doing it the exact same way
  10. well it is better than "from the New York bedroom community of Stroudsburg PA, please welcome the New York City Skyliners"
  11. DCI has amuch more intensive schedule that other circuits do not have. i dare say if corps from other circuits had that same schedule, the difference in quality would be nil. there is a ton of talent in other circuits......but if you go on weekends only, you wont get to where DCI goes. but as DCA has shown, you can get ###### close
  12. YOU CANT JUDGE WHAT ISN'T THERE! that's the key. you judge GE on what you see and how you react to it within the criteria of the sheet. if you dont know what's coming, you can not penalize a corps for it, you can only judge what is there...and if you look, GE scores do usually start lower, then grow as the season goes on. if i were called by DCI to judge next week, and i was on GE.....i wouldnt know what's coming in an incomplete show, i could just go on what I see. did SCV early on have the ending they did? maybe not.....and they werent judged on what wasn't there. case in point....the band i taught last year did Russian Xmas. first show out, we didnt have the full tune out there...we closed with the initial big hit. judges stated "wow great build to that hit.....i can tell you arent done, but the way you built to that moment could make it a closer all on it's own" many times corps wont end in the middle of a tune unless it's a conclusive phrase ending, often before a feel or tempo change...and if done well, reward it.
  13. Crossmen 92....down ending. song before the ending was...well...lol...a traditional closer. did the down ending possibly hurt GE after it was added? Cadets 02...Boogie Woggie before the closer.....could that hurt for a temporary ending? there is no rule that says the ending has to be huge, and lately, many corps have had songs before the closer that end huge..........so no, it may not hurt GE. what could hurt GE is a closer that is god awfully dirty ( spelled correctly just for you) with people running into each other, lack of volume due to stamina issues, and maybe even people not knowing the music well. nothaving a huge ending isnt going to hurt GE at all if you truly understand the caption. GE= react to what you see. and, if a show early on ends leaving a judge confused, odds are, they wont be scoring a 19.
  14. first class percussion repeat often. add speed as you get comfortable
  15. there is no rule as to what anyone should or shouldn't have. and yes, cleaner, even if incomplete will score higher. you can have a done show, with all kinds of tough stuff, but you wont get credit.....dirt is drit, and the comp should only help you so much.
  16. um, no. see, you can only be judged on what you have, not what you dont. what is or isn't to come is of no consequence. a corps may have only 8 on the field, and timing penalties aside, if that 8 is good, it will score well. you can not judge what is not there
  17. agreed also...and given the limited amount of shows now days, for some, their only chance may be early season. the problem is this...with once a month camps, move in dates during school dates...even colleges conflict....they only have so much time. it's not like the old days when you could have camp every weekend and have the show done by May. the problem is finding a happy medium for fans and corps alike. telling fans not to come eventually will result in poorly attended early season shows. but having shows 1/2 done will #### fans off too....there has to be a happy medium
  18. i agree...how dare we keep this on a football field....why we need to be really innovative and put it on a stage. oops....deen done :P
  19. hey is MCL open this year? :P (and that's great news)
  20. G Force announced months ago they folded
  21. this may offend a few, but i am still baffled at how some of the top A corps always score lower than some of the lower open corps. it seems to me that size contributes to score, even if noticeable gaps in quality are evident
  22. it's also for those that cant do DCA for any reason...or DCi for that matter. Westshore haspeople of all ages, some without any previous corps experience
