  1. Hey there, just wanted to thank you again for the AWESOME tickets! This was the only show I could attend this season and I couldn't have gone if it weren't for those tickets.
  2. Agreed, I noticed that the first time I saw the show. Cracked me up!
  3. This is the first time I've been back on DCP in years, and my first reply belongs to you. This cracked me up! I also totally agree with everything you said, keep it up. Hope you go to more shows so I can read more reviews!
  4. HA! Yeah, I think that was discussed on here a few years ago as one of the all time most beautiful DCI moments ruined by the crowd, LOL
  5. SCV 2000 is by far one of my all time favorite shows. I've seen it hundreds of times and it never gets old. It's so perfectly designed and the corps poured their hearts into the performance every time. It was one of the shows I saw at my very first live drum corps show and it BLEW MY MIND. lol. The release at the end of Adagio is something no one can understand unless they heard it in person :o)
  6. Hey, I know it's been FOREVER since I last posed anything here, but I thought I would get some advice from some other drum corps junkies. One of the least know but most talented bands has all their music up for listening and I thought the track "Serious" would make an amazing ballad for a show. Check it out and let me know what you think. the band's called "The Unknownn" from the UK, they take influence from many sources including Samuel Barber and other composers of his era, along with more modern touches. I have arranged "Serious" for brass choir if anyone wants to try it out. Their other stuff is amazing as well but less suited for the field. Thanks for checking them out! The Unknownn, music player from eVision Marching
  7. Hello! If anyone is here in the OKC area and would like to head up a Winter Guard let me know! evisionmarching@gmail.com
  8. Hey that just makes it all the more exciting, DCI/ Storm Party!
  9. Heck yeah I would pay for it, up to $50! I have a high def projector on a 200" screen! That would be SWEET! (everyones invited!)
  10. I've been playing with Pyware for a good 5 years, experimenting with the demos and hoping to write drill someday. Finally I've got the chance this season to get my designing off the ground and I'm writing for a few schools. I think any drill writer should be able to write by hand although I don't think that's the smart way to write. There is a learning curve as with anything, but once you know the program you can get your ideas down and animated within a few minutes. I like the 3D perspective view to check out what the forms look like from any angle, hight or distance from the field. The people working at Pyware are AWESOME and really helped me with getting started with my designing this year, they gave my # and email to some really respected writers and i'm getting some of their overflow for this season. The program's free to try and they're adding some really crazy features that will hopefully help out with kids learning the drill in the future. Take it easy- Brooks
  11. I hate when people say "my highschool" but my highschool band did an ELP show in 96 and it rocked. It was famous for years and years in Oklahoma. Funny thing is... they did a Yes show the next year.... hmm wonder where those ideas came from! I listen to some really obscure industrial/techno/unclassified music that would work really well with a good arrangment. If anyone's interested check out the band Shpongle, and the track "Around the World in a Tea Daze". AMAZING stuff.
  12. 1. Invesco at Mile High 2. Camp Randall Madison Love em!
  13. I love minimalism, Glass especially. The repetative nature isn't always bad, but sometimes can lose impact since theres only around 11 minutes for a show. Minimalism translates extremely well for corps, but the pieces have to be picked with much care. The real task lays on the arranger. I'm currently designing a show around Glass's "Naqoyqatsi" and "Itaipu". Simply amazing music, just gotta cut out 90% of the repetition. PS. the term minimalism is a horrible way to describe this music(well most of it) LOL
  14. If PR is dark.... BK's show this year's going to be a black hole! This stuff is going to be AMAZING, it'll make you cry then slap you in the face. 2002 was dark, this is going to be off the charts ^0^
