  1. In an NFL stadium why would a generator be needed? This isn't a local small high school show where they can't provide power outlets at field level.
  2. Jeff Prosperie is a HellCat from West Point. This Old Guard is a different Army band. Jeff Brooks, last night's percussion judge, was and maybe still is a member. Also, not to be confused with Bluecoats percussion arranger Tom Rarick who was a member of the Air Force Ceremonial Brass but I believe he has since retired from the military.
  3. Pulling for Crossmen to make up that .3 gap and get back into finals over BK. Based on yesterday's performance draw, I believe it is possible.
  4. I'm not on the Regiment train this year that a lot of people are. They are great but I feel like this show peaked a couple of weeks ago while Cadets and even Mandarins a driving right to the end.
  5. But is that for the whole weekend or just tomorrow because of the rain happening today in Indy?
  6. Are they not releasing scores for those who marched? Blue Knights jumped to an 86 tonight. I would love to see Crossmen's number leading into prelims.
  7. I don't know if you can qualify that as a rough night. That would be an every night thing where if it was a huge issue it would have been called out by judges and probably addressed by now. A rough night is just some dirt here and there that isn't normally there. I thought their intro statement sounded a bit thick but it could have also been their field placement versus mic placement on Flo.
  8. Good to know. I know they cut off before Covid and I thought right after covid they aired it all but I couldn't remember if that was permanent. I'll miss it most of it anyway because I have band rehearsal to teach Thursday evening.
  9. That's not necessarily a bad thing. They are all in the same group. Go on first and set the standard and the other 2 are being judged against you. They aren't far enough apart in the draw that the judges won't be able to get it right on whatever order that is. Judges can actually edit their scores in Competition Suite to make sure they get the order right up until the show ends.
  10. Open class prelims tonight Open Class finals tomorrow Prelims up until the theater broadcast starts on Thursday, (I think) Semifinals on Friday Finals on Saturday.
  11. Well my favorite Christmas move is Bad Santa so I've got that going for me.
  12. If I watch only the high cam view, I can convince myself that is actually a Christmas show.
  13. It's a shame Bluecoats spend the first 9 minutes of this show building up all of this ridiculous musical and visual demand only not find a good way to end the show other than the standard long chord that elicits a warm and fuzzy applause.
  14. Thank you for clarifying that side of things.
  15. What exactly is the stolen identity? I hear screaming trumpets. I see green. I see aussies. I see a repertoire that has a Stan Kenton chart in it. I see Scott Boerma is the brass arranger. Just to be devil's advocate, what if being forced into holding on to an identity is what leads to a "failed design" As a complete outsider with no connection to the corps administration, It sounds like there are different factions of Scouts alumni and they both get mad if they don't get their way. I have friends who are Scouts alumni and its not something we have come up in conversation.
  16. Is the alumni problem one where people don't support anymore because they don't get in finals or is it an issue where they just think it has to be latin jazz and high screaming trumpets or its not acceptable? Or is it a combination of both. I come from a corps with a really apathetic alumni base. Maybe that was a reflection of corps management in the later years not engaging us but when it came time to save the group, everyone was like "eh" That's too bad except for a select few and it has never been enough to keep the Glassmen name alive. I tried to do what I could do within my abilities and always made it a point to meet the bass drum section every year and do something for them. Now for the last 11 years I've had nothing but memories to go on. If there are Scouts alumni who aren't supporting because they aren't in finals any longer I feel sorry for them. At least their corps still exists. It certainly sounds like the financials are in a decent spot.
  17. I didn't get to watch due to rehearsal tonight but awesome for Crossmen to break 84 in the race for 12th.
  18. So not to take anything away but that is almost a 3 point bump in 2 days. Did something change or did they just take advantage of a weak show lineup where they finished 2nd.
  19. Is it just me or do Music City look like garden gnomes now with those hats?
  20. Last video I saw looks like the same or similar ending. I think they are just cleaning and playing better. I'm not sure coming out a week later than everyone else and living in your own echo chamber of rehearsal was a good thing but the brass was particularly rough in the beginning. Getting on the road and getting feedback from outside your organization a well as just cleaning is helping. They now seem fairly solid in all captions and don't have a specific weakness for their position. Blue Knights seem to be taking the hit in GE. Pacific Crest is taking the hit in the brass and percussion performance captions. Crossmen are just chugging along. The next 2 weeks will be interesting between those 3.
