  1. Bluecoats are having move ins about 20 minutes from where I live. I'll probably head over some time this weekend to check them out.
  2. Does anyone have the original article that the letter was in response to? i couldn't find a record of it on the Marion Star website. I'm assuming it was purged from their website since it is almost 2 months old. I really like to ready what the original article had to say.
  3. I would recommend the College Primer Pack from Innovative Percussion. Everything included in this pack is quality stuff. http://www.innovativepercussion.com/pages/...tail.asp?id=134
  4. The group I teach got comments from Ralph Hardimon and Mark Thurston from the WGI Percussion Regional in Indianapolis on cd along with our normal judges tapes from the actual judging panel. They weren't specifcally commenting on a single capttion, just an overall approach and they also said they were testing out the technology for future considerations.
  5. I doubt it. Nobody has the time to work on any solo stuff. They are either in rehearsal, in critique, or hanging out on the staff bus doing staff things.
  6. AHH the good old Golden Lancer days. I used to have one of the "I Survived the Bug Show" t shirts until it fell apart. I think there are still a ton of pictures in G-West from that show.
  7. I wouldn't ever say there is enough hype for basses. It is a snare and tenor world out there. Although not as much as cymbals, basses are still way lower than snare and tenors as a "glory" instrument.
  8. I use the regular full version. Depending on how much writing you do, Sibelius Student could be OK. It has limits and doesn't have as many features. It limits you to 8 staves but should still give you the basics. Just remember, you get what you pay for so you might want to go ahead and get the full version if you think you might need it.
  9. Virtual Drumline is not a music notation program. It is a sound library. I personally do all of my writing with Sibelius. I find it a lot more user friendly and easier to use for percussion notation.
  10. I don't believe anyone would be condescending about any corps' attempt to return to the field if they truly felt an attempt was being made to field a corps. Any attempt Marion has made to get back to the field has come across as half-hearted at best. Like a previous poster who actually lives in Marion has mentioned, they have no local community support. As a Columbus resident that actually holds a marketing degree, I see little to no effort involved in marketing this corps in the off season here in Ohio. Since Marion is in an area where you can't go 2 hours in any direction without finding a Div I corps, they need more local grass roots support. Frankly, that's not something they are getting or really trying to get.
  11. 2 of those kids are Mike Jackson's students at Mission Viejo.
  12. My favorite combination of heads is what I have used for the last 2 years in the high school line that I teach. Remo Black max on top, Ludwig X-tra Thin mylar on the bottom. I also have dynasty drums and the middle guts are cut out on them as well. I still get a good solid snare response with clarity.
  13. I was thinking more along the line of Invisible Touch.
  14. I remember tracking up and down the soap box derby track in Akron while we rehearsed at the Rubber Bowl in '98
  15. Technically its Michigan that sucks. Its the only thing that keep Ohio from falling into Kentucky.
  16. Not sure if there is any video footage out there but I was there. It was cool.
  17. I also have an explanation as to why OSU lost tonight. I was listening to the radio this morning on my way to lunch and I actually heard Kirk Herbstreit say "the word" on the radio. I knew they were screwed from that point.
  18. Of course, everyone I've ever known who has been in the military absolutely hates it when people do that.
  19. My high school actually had the power wedge snares. Horrible drums.
  20. Kansas seems to be really hospitable. I can't remember exactly where it was but we were housed at a school in Kansas in '98 and the band boosters of the school did a pig roast for us one night with tons of food. It was easily one of our best meals of the summer.
  21. yeah, I'm a bit lost on what a volcano has to do with a hurricane?
  22. The standard Yamaha deal is that you get new drums every 2 years.
