  1. Someone uploaded the opening hit for CV to youtube. MUCH better sound quality than the live stream last night. I gotta say....my corps sounds good...really, really good. Maybe a little overzealous on the top end but nice and clear. Battery and pit sound 15,000% better than they did in the dome and the bass drums are re-tuned and sound hot.
  2. He really is a super guy as well. I remember his association from Spirit very well but I believe he marched with BD (possibly instructed as well.)
  3. I only learned not to break ranks when I came to march junior corps(it was never spoken about in HS band or College that I remember...but it was the late 80's...soooooo.) I wouldn't expect a person who has no experience with the "rule" to know it or understand it. Even at corps shows we would politely ask folks to walk around. I do remember at 2005 DCA (I want to say it was prelims) we (CV) were waiting on the Kilties to take the field and a group started walking towards their ranks and we simply politely asked them to walk around. They gave us an odd look (I'm guessing because they had no idea of what we were talking about,) but they did as we asked.
  4. I would have personally claimed north eastern bias at that point πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  5. That's really odd. I could swear they said 80.5 for sk but dcacorps.org shows 73
  6. I still think if DCI could be involved somehow, DCA could be moved to the same week as DCI finals (maybe in conjunction with open class.) Might be a dumb thought but the audience and venue is ready made and the current events are well run. That gives it a head start. DCI is far ahead on marketing as well and it ties the whole concept of a huge "Drum Corps party spectacular" concept. In theory it might have merit. I'm not so sure it works in practice because of housing and rehersal space. Probably more I'm missing.
  7. So very true LOL. What a fun corps to watch though though.
  8. The ending bothered me a little as well. As someone said in the review, it was maybe a little TOO chaotic. I did think CV had the best overall percussion but I don't believe the judges agreed. Maybe a few too many risks.
  9. That's just too much like math Jeff. Time to let the google figure it out!
  10. Not surprising. The scores are very close but they also came from different shows / panels.
  11. Understandable. And there are some valid points. I too thought it was probably the best 12th place corps I've seen. The design needs to be better. Maybe the people in place that are in charge of that design are out of their element and need to be shifted around to positions that are more suitable to their skillset. I wouldn't argue with that to anyone. Granted, I don't know Will Pitts personally to understand his vision of show design and the like. If he's not the best design guy but he's a great arranger, then I would agree that he should be actively engaged in focusing his skill set on what he does best and finding someone with the design skills to move the corps forward. That's the thing about knowing your limits.
  12. It really is the best browser among we "normies" that use the "interwebs picture box thingy." I'm sure that some of the mega power users out there use some beta platform ones that are far better, but I don't have the time or patience for all that noise.
  13. And that is a fair statement. I don't discount that at all. Look, I'm not saying that the best people are in the right place to maximize the potential a corps has. And that's ANY corps, not just PR. I am not a designer, arranger etc. I have absolutely no right to speak on those subjects as I would be talking out of my ### with ZERO experience in those roles. We learn our strengths and weaknesses under fire and if we're smart, we adapt and shift around the talent to keep improving. Was it an amazingly well designed show? Nope. Early in the season I was confused and I stated as much. As the show evolved and changed, I thought it started to be the best show it could be. If it would have been an amazing product from the start, then yes, they would clearly have gone higher. Your point is valid. I just don't know that some of the screaming for peoples heads on a pike (figuratively speaking,) does anything more than add unnecessary drama. Just my .02.
  14. Usually Chrome works better for anything video. We require it for live streaming in training because it doesn't give us problems.
  15. PR made strides in the right direction and more importantly they proved something that some people seem to either not know or forget after they are long removed from actually being an MM. PR showed grit. The staff and members pulled together and took the feedback they were getting from the judging community (you know...the ones who's opinions count most,) and improved every day, every set. What more can you ask for from any human being but to accept feedback and do what they can with it? They proved the naysayers wrong by making finals and that appears to have ###### in some peoples Wheaties. If people are so worried about placement over the experience of actually getting out there on the field, improving yourself as a person and mastering your craft, then they are SORELY missing what this activity represents. If you are one of those and you marched, then take a few moments and try to remember your roots and the lessons you (I hope) learned. If you didn't march, try to imagine yourself in the situation. I want PR back in the top 3 to 5 as well. I love Phantom and always will. But seeding the internet with posts about who should be fired and why isn't getting you what you want. If you want a genuine discussion about who should be in what spots, then bring your concerns to the corps itself. Civil discussion is fine. But sometimes we move right past civility and reach straight for the pitchforks.
  16. Good question. That I can see, they don't. But I can still Chromecast it from the phone or laptop.
  17. Pretty much the same. Money, I donate to corps that need it to actually tour and give the members a life changing experience. Time, I try to donate to any corps in need that I can get to.
  18. I will DEFINITELY check them out. DCA show today which will determine seeding at Championships. SO I'll have a week to take a look see.
  19. I haven't looked at a lot of Open class yet this year. I usually watch all the World class stuff first and chew on it for a month and then go to Open class.
  20. SO many good shows that season. To me though, Into The Light was the most underrated show I've seen to date (since 1984.) Just a stunning show.
  21. I'm going to try and see if I can get the Chromecast to work with Flo. I would rather watch corps on a big screen with real sound if at all possible.
  22. A drum corps Calcutta!! ❀️ it! I actually somehow managed to buy MYSELF in calcutta once at the US Open 9-Ball Championships. They announced my name and I raised my hand to report I was present and they took it as a bid LOL. Luckily I didn't place top 16 (nor did I ever manage to place top 16 in that tournament) so I didn't have to pay myself. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
