  1. Must have been watching the wabbit. (which was better in 1970). Of course I like loud staccato 8th notes, I'm a drummer. See ya when you've got another 23 posts under your belt ^0^
  2. Next you'll be trying to convince us that Toronto isn't the capital :P To be fair, when I lived in Ontario, more than one person told me that Minneapolis was a state.
  3. I didn't see a lot of movement in the 06 show, but then 14th place says something didn't work in 76 either. As a matter of personal taste, I thought Cadets' 06 show was hideous compared to other concepts on the same field. Liked SCV, BK, and was pleasantly surprised by BAC. Like I said, personal taste.
  4. I'm not quite sure what you're saying here. Is this just about Garfield's 76 show or any corps from that era? Were you around in 76 or are you just making an assumption based on what you've read and/or heard? If you were around, why can't you see things in the context of their time? (sort of like appreciating both the Old English in the King James Bible and the contemporary English in the versions that have followed).
  5. Speaking relatively regarding Frank. He's put on more mileage since the westward trek, but he can speak for himself in these parts. I spent a lot of time with them in Patterson Armory that year, because I was a Sunriser vagabond at the mercy of the likes of Brian Callahan who lived in Bergenfield b**bs It was cheap entertainment. I know Hugh was back, and thought George was too. Might have been Bill Kauffman, though. That was the year after they did the Bridgemen disaster (except for my idea of "You and Me Against The World").
  6. Given that Harvey W. Seeds Post 29 of Miami won 3 consecutive legion nationals in the 20s (including one held in Paris) I think they have claim to that decade. No disrespect to Boys of '76 who probably had a longer run of credible placements than anyone else.
  7. Nah, I caught the tone. It just struck me as arrogant not sardonic so I thought I'd mess with it. I saw 76 Garfield, 06 Cadets, Gerald Ford, and GWB but Millard Filmore was even before me. I hope you're not going with the bathtub in the White House thing, cause that's been debunked long ago. I don't know why someone picked '76 Garfield, but it was a corps whose staff could still bring it today if they were all still with us. Frank Dorritie was at an early stage in his career and has been in and out of the arranger's chair in many good places since then. The late George Tuthill was a true musician who produced Hutchinson Sky Riders and corps out west before his untimely passing. I don't recall who the visual person was, I know Hugh Mahon was back in some capacity, but Pete Emmons comes to mind.
  8. Why is it funny? Judging by your signature, you didn't see the 76 show. Is it funny to ask who was the better president: George W. Bush (06) or Gerald Ford (76)? I think historians would find that a legitimate topic.
  9. How about the 06 line playing the 76 show? Wasn't that Frank Dorritie's "Kenton Plays Wagner" show?
  10. As clear as the shirt on your back, b**bs b**bs b**bs
  11. You do realize that there were 7 founding members of DCA? Coincidence.................. ^0^
  12. *second correction* the "small city" in Canada is part of metropolitan Toronto.
  13. I think that's a decision to be made by you and your fellow alumni. Canada has such great traditions in both DCI & DCA. Rally 'round what's left whether Dutch Boy or Kingston Grenadiers and do all you can for them.
  14. And the Jets are even leaving the hallowed bubble at Weeb Ewbank Hall at Hofstra.
  15. Two Egg, Sopchoppy, :P and worst of all: Gainesville b**bs
  16. I graduated from FIU (after going to FSU) and in those days Sweetwater was sort of the campus joke. I'm sure it's grown significantly since 1975. I hope the little C&W bar is still there B) I spent a few years in Canada too, so I'm pulling for KK to make it regardless of the name.
  17. Not sure what you mean, but I think I resemble that remark. I agree that using "Florida" instead of "Miami" isn't the best idea, but the alumni who restarted the Vanguards(named for the rocket, not a movement) no longer lived in Miami. The percusion website has a Dade County address. Hopefully, they won't get precise and be from Sweetwater. Under the Wave name, the corps managed a very competitive 13th in D1 and hung around in Semis for a few years. Not bad. While the Ted Baxter years weren't exactly a thing of beauty, the revival under Jo Wessman and Jeff Bridges was a very entertaining package. Jacksonville is almost 400 miles from Miami and has always had its own drum corps identity. I enjoyed finally seeing Teal in Madison and wish them the best.
  18. We had a Kiawnis club in my (Miami Carol City) high school. Of course they served dino-burgers in the cafeteria, too.
  19. Well, Miami Vanguards would work nicely. Already got the right colors and maybe Moore Park is still around (wonder what happened to Vanguard Hall?)
  20. Intending no disrespect since his passing, but............................there always was a relationship between falling asleep and Ronald Reagan during his time in office
