  1. I think that scores in the 10-15 place range typically are all over the place do to the make up of these corps. These corps tend to be younger and less experienced corps who tend to be much more inconsistent (probably due to the staff as well in this range). Also, I know that judging this activity is as opinionated as this message topic is. I am sure each judge was brought up in his or her own system. Being raised on a BK diet (I know bad pun), I know I almost never agree with anyone here. Also, scoring will be all over the place in this range because you will not find consistency throughout a show from a corps in this range. I marched all my years in this range and I can tell you that if a judge was in a certain place during the show it could have made the difference between playing the last show or watching it. Good luck to everyone in the finals battle. Thank god my home corps doesn't appear to be in this battle - at least yet!
  2. I have to admit that after reading your post I wanted to reply with some kind of response to attack the experience that you had illustrated here. However, I will not do that. I can only say that I am sorry if your efforts were met with the reactions that you describe and that you had to walk away from the organization. As an alumni and a passionate supporter of BK, I would hope that those who support the Blue Knights - members, fans, and alumni alike - see this post for what it is and realize what kind of damage any one person can do to an organization and its volunteers. With that said, I would politely request anyone to use other threads or forums to vent their frustrations. These official threads are meant to be for the members and fans alike for the show this season. I dont question your content, but question why here. Again bstar82 I am sorry for your situation and experiences, but I can assure you that the majority of BK fans and alumni that represent the best that drum corps has to offer.
  3. Looks like another year of doubt for the Blue Knights in DCP. Not too surprising, but they did keep their staff and a large part of the corps. Look for a better year in brass with Joni having yet another of caption head experience and a return of most of the brass staff. Im sure that they will all have a better talent pool this year to draft out of.
  4. Its kind of a play on words. At BK current memebers like to keep a low profile here and on any other public forum. It was my account before I aged out and I just figured I would use it instead of wasting another login for DCP. I loved every show too. I miss it all so much and am so proud of all my friends at BK this year.
  5. I can tell you that this music was arranged much differently than the 02 production. They only took the 02 closer piece and arranged it for the whole show (minus the ballad) from it. The 02 production strayed very little from the Shostakovitch and Barber pieces, whereas this year they took many liberties in the arrangement. I agree that I too get tired of people repeating musical ideas, but wonder how accessible shows without those reused shows would be. Your point in the last post. That brings me to accessibility. The blue knights as well as many other corps are not as accessible as say the cavies or bd for good reason. They have there personal traditions and identities that are important to them - as they should be. I like the variety that it creates. There will never be and never has been a show that is accessible to everyone. Even though some shows are not as accessible to me, each show shows a distinct change in personality of the members and of the corps. I like that about DCI and I appreciate each corps for not conforming to one monotone style.
  6. When BK 06 members remember this season, it will not be one of disappointment for the score reaction at finals. The core of the group is members from the '03 season where we finished 13th .15 out of finals. Many have perspective of experiencing finals from the seats and not on the field. I'm not excusing people who do such activities, but it must be looked at in perspective. The Blue Knights organization has always been one without a huge fan base in the Midwest. Also, most people do not understand the scoring in DCI - even “educated” and experienced people here on DCP. Even announcers from DCI on public broadcasts – who are “legendary” drum corps personalities – have a hard time saying anything nice about the corps. I think, for the most part, this is understood by people in the organization. What the Blue Knights of 06 should always remember is that they did beat Crown at finals and also home showed them too. They did not continue the curse of Madison (ie 13th loosing to a div 2 corps in 02 and dropping a placement by loosing to Madison at finals '99). They were a box 5 drum corps for the first time since 2000 – something I never experienced. They again were within tenths of beating SCV (which has never happened). They made finals for the third year in a row and placed higher than most ever thought they would. Most importantly – I think – the show was accessible to many people this year and picked up some more fans who are starting to understand the corps. Well done to everyone who competed this year especially the 7-15 corps. Wow what a year for the middle of the pack. I hope in the future that another 13th place corps (the Colts this year) has the chance to unseat another top 8 corps on finals night and create this much controversy.
  7. The troop is America's Corps. Its anti-American not to cheer for them. Good luck troop in your upcoming season.
  8. As an alumni of BK i would like to thank you for your kind words. It has been a hard path back to success for the Blue Knights and it is great to hear support for my home team. It wasnt too long ago that we were out of finals for a few years. Love the show this year-everyone should see the show. Best of luck to all the corps out there!
