Just a few short months ago,.... In the era of lofty and abstract show announcements, we’ll keep it simple. The Scouts 2009 show is titled Relámpago. It’s good, it’s loud, it’s fun, it’s POW! Thank the lord I don't have to read POW!! again.

It is now official,...the 2010 drum corps season has been canceled. The Madison Scouts have been declared the Gold Medal winners. The only thing left to be decided is what color pants they will wear in their exhibition tour across the country. That is all.

You are exactly right. I started noticing this a year or two back,....and this year even more. The crowd is turning into a WGI crowd, when every time a "soloist" tosses a 4 or 5 and catches it, all you here is a bunch of little pre-orgasmic screams. At first I would wonder what the scream and applause was for,...then I started to watch for it, and lo and behold, that is what it was. Just like being at a WGI show,...enough to make you wonder.

The 12 corps at finals started long before DCI. It was the number of corps in finals at VFW Nationals(after pre-lims and inspection). That number was decided on as it equaled the amount of time Tony Schelecta(sp) could stay awake and sober.

I don't know how much DCI can change with the stadium, but I do know that they can tell Lucas Stadium officials to have more event staff on hand to stop people at the entrances to the seats when the corps on the field starts their show. I have never been at a show with so many people coming in and out during a performance, walking around the aisles, standing in the chutes talking, and constant talking and texting on their cell phones. The rudeness of some people amazed me. The corps members of units that were not performing were making a game out of running to open seats during performances and then immediately calling or texting their friends to tell them where they were sitting. (I know, you are wearing a white wrist band so that allows you to do anything you want during a show.) Next year I hope to see an event staff individual at each entrance allowing people in and out ONLY during breaks between performances.

If you are in the area of Brazil in your travels,...stop by the school, feel free to help if you like in anyway, watch a practice, enjoy the company. You will also be able to tell your friends next week when they ask you what you did on vacation,..."I went to Brazil".

Different request to DCI on VOD. Please put the percussion warm up area a bit further away from where it was last night at Allentown. The sounds were very disturbing over the corps on the field. During ballads, the outside noise was louder than the corps on the field. Nevermind,....just saw this in another topic.

Hmmmm,...that wouldn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that out Granny.

I think it really depends if it is a permanent hole,...or a kid is out for a show sick or injured. Permanent holes would be better fixed, closed, whatever you want to call it, or quickly filled with an alternate. You will most probably have temporary holes from show to show, and just hope for the well being of the members .

I'm trying to get through to Granny to respond to you,....she must be down to the cafeteria for lunch, or taking her afternoon nap. You don't have to apologize for being obnoxious.

Maybe it is just me,...but I would guess that that is alphabetical order, and just that, a list of the performing corps.

Those of us in the know realize who Granny Smith is, we just have fun with it. How do you like dem apples ???
