  1. World Gone Mad will be having rehearsals open to new members on September 23 and September 30! World Gone Mad Drum and Bugle Corps was formed in 2006 by the Reynolds’ and Mr. Biscuit to give non-professional musicians the opportunity to perform for the public while allowing them to still have an outside life. Many groups are set up requiring extensive amount of time for rehearsals, performances, and travel with the associated financial burden. Also these groups quite often have year-long schedules. WGM was designed from the beginning to have 2 to 3 rehearsals or performances a month. We limit travel to events that are fun for us. Also, our performance season runs from the later part of September to the middle part of June. This allows our members to schedule vacations as well as avoid the hot Texas summer months. Email info@keepaustinloud.org for additional information. Also checkout our new, virus-free website at www.keepaustinloud.org.
  2. Looks like a Shriner corps. http://scottishritemasons.org/VN-06-2005.pdf
  3. To answer the original question . . A good resource would be the Archive Scores at Corpsreps.com (http://www.corpsreps.com/scores.cfm). They have the scores (with the corps) at quite a few shows. For example, in 1972 at DCI they show 39 corps attended prelims. At World Open that same year, they show that 32 corps attended Class A Prelims (World) and 24 corps attended Class B Prelims (Open). By no means is this a definitive list, it does give a good flavor of the drum corps activity. 5. And now for something different . . . Who (besides Teal) is going to World Class? Joe
  6. Actually "justanothermell", in my day of marching junior corps (8 years in the 70's/80's) ALL corps had stories similar to this. The best run corps had emergency funds to cover surprises that no one can expect and that always seem to happen. In fact I remember having buses (not 1, but 2) breakdown and members having to be ferried between different locations a couple of hundred miles apart. Also remember crowding 128 people on 2 buses and a couple of support vehicles because the 3rd bus had lost AC in the middle of the desert somewhere in the Southwest. Corps is a reflection of life . . it doesn't go smooth and you just need to deal with the stuff as it happens. It sounds like this group did and taught a great lesson to the members on how to overcome the stuff when it happens. I have 3 kids that will be or are eligible to march junior corps. I would not have a problem with them being involved in this organization especially after seeing that they can handle the challenges. Joe
  7. Thanks to Austin Stars for organizing this year's TX Preview. Good job! Everyone be prepared for one amazing experience in a great venue! Joe Kemenich Director World Gone Mad www.keepaustinloud.com (corps site) www.keepaustinloud.net (show site)
  8. Thanks MHSmirage for your positive feedback. I can safely say that you "get" what we are doing. Make sure to introduce yourself the next time you see us. We always like to make more friends. Joe
  9. We are currently looking for a "builder" to develop a new color guard unit within the World Gone Mad family. This person would be responsible for developing a program that can function on a part-time basis, does not involve competition with other units, and does not require "marching" type performances. Creativity and out of the box thinking is required! This would be an excellent position for someone who has a great day job, wants to develop a unit from scratch, and wants to stay involved in the visual arts. This is an unpaid, interviewed position. World Gone Mad rehearses and performs on a part-time basis. Majority of performances would be local to the Austin, TX market. Also we will perform with an established brass ensemble, a new percussion ensemble, and on our own. Contact if interested: Joe Kempenich World Gone Mad Director www.keepaustinloud.com kempej01@gmail.com

  11. Attendees, Thanks for making our first Drumline information a HUGE success! Our percussion producer will be emailing out charts to you. Remember our primary goal is to have fun while we get better. See you at our next rehearsal January 17, 2009. Our brass line is very excited to have you part of our team! Everyone Else, I was asked a question on whether we will have enough room for more interested people. For people with the right attitude and are willing to commit to our program, we will make the room. We will not implement auditions to shrink the group's size. Joe Kempenich Director World Gone Mad
