  1. I know this came up a few weeks back ... and I agree ... it's going to be tough for me to make it to Indy every year moving forward with aging parents, work, etc. Maybe a perk for "Friends of DCI?" I would be more than happy the shell out top dollar to watch finals at home.
  2. Completely agree with your comment about the excitement level ... I will say I enjoy seeing the Corps in a open stadium ... it's something about the lighting that is totally different than in a dome. Flag colors pop ... Corps uniforms shine ... etc.
  3. Honestly, I thought The Cadets seemed very tired last night ... I think the 34 show schedule has taken a toll.
  4. Music Percussion Allan Kristensen --- he is the wild card ... Has been very tough on The Cadets in the recent past ... Think Crown will stay in front tonight.
  5. BD gets a free pass for 2005 ... they were REPRESENTING the activity in Europe Not apples to apples
  6. Well, to not make light of the issue … it does seem unfair that Regiment traveled out to California and is pulling their weight for Drum Corps International and the activity … while BD takes off 5 days to practice. The Blue Devils could have easily marched at Santa Clara’s contest and the Oceanside contest.
  7. A friend and I were discussing this topic yesterday … Salute the Corps marching more than 30 contests this year excluding Championships! Of the 2011 top 12 Corps: Cadets Cavies Crown Regiment Boston Blue Stars
  8. Some of us got it!!! I said at Regal on Monday night that they looked and sounded like Star ... And yes, it is a compliment!
  9. Think it's time to move the show closer to Nashville ... ie Bowling Green, etc. I know of at least 12 folks that would have attended tonight!
  10. Pulled from Cavies' website: Performance Times... 7:45pm-Crossmen 8:02pm-Spirit of Atlanta 8:19pm-Carolina Crown 8:36pm-The Cavaliers 8:53pm-The Cadets
  11. Totally agree ... this just might be the year I have to miss finals because of a conflict. I would absolutely pay a premium to watch the top 12 at home. I think I started sending messages around 2007 about just announcing the finals scores live … I’m glad they finally did that last year!
  12. 1993 Completely ... my favorite Blue Devils shows ... so happy I got to see it live 4 times ...
  13. Yeah, I'm surprised that storyline flew under the radar ... that he marched his age out year with the 2011 Blue Devils to win a gold medal after marching in the Cadets for 3 season ... OUCH!
  14. Easily The Cadets ... Saw them 4 times live ... Murfreesboro and the 3 nights in Indy ... Each viewing, I picked up more details in the show ... I think 2011 will go down as one of the strongest top 17 Corps ... enjoyed them all!!!
  15. A friend with me fairly new to the active actually pointed out the omission … and asked why … Simply question is ... why did the Blue Devils and the Blue Knights not present the Stars and Stripes? If it was an oversight on their part or just a decision not to present, then so be it ... Simply question only needs a simple response ...
  16. When they announced Cadet2, it was said the Corps would probably put on the field shows like "App. Springs," "To Tame the Perilous Sky" ... previous Cadet favorites, so I think you'll see Cadet2 perform those shows in the near future …
  17. Agree with this ... huge difference between Prelims and Finals ... I don't remember curtains covering the north window section ... I think that was new this year ...
  18. It all started for me as well while watching the 1984 Cadets! I'm so thrilled and happy I got to see you take the Gold last night ... it's been 18 years since I've seen you win a Championship in person, so The 2011 Cadets will always mean something special ... Thanks for your encore performance ... what a great performance!
  19. Congrats Spirit! Looking forward to cheering for you tonight! Great job!!!
  20. Think it needs to be said again ... Jwillis35 mentioned this in the "Semi" thread, but the Contra member did recover quickly and positioned himself spot on to step into the arch that moves into the company front ... Even though many of us saw him go down, the zipper line actually hid him to a degree ... I attended the majority of the Quarterfinals, but only watched the top 8 last night ... The falls I saw yesterday ... Boston Snare go down ... actually thought he was hurt ... Cavies member go down Cadet Tuba/Contra ...
  21. Ok,should I dare mention that Bands of America offers National Finals with their Fan Network? Which I do believe their Fan Network and DCI's are one in the same ... I know DCI wants as many fans in the Stadium as possible, but it's just not festible for me to continue to make time for Championship week ... I'm probably taking a break after 4 years in the great state of Indiana ... Guess it will be Quarters at Regal, Semi-Finals on the PC and Finals on DCP/Twitter next year
  22. I sent a message to DCI about the World Class Finals ... will send an update after I hear back ....
  23. Below was listed originally for the 2011 Fan Network ... Does anyone know why is the Open Class Finals no longer a option to purchase? Also, looks you can watch Finals live if you purchase the Blu-ray or the DVD of finals? If anyone has any extra info, thanks!!! http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=cf6d1658-b2f6-444c-aee3-3db95daa0c11#ixzz1NUCUO7uK 2011 DCI Fan Network schedule of events* LIVE: Live Webcast VOD: Video On Demand LIVE—Friday, May 27, "live" webcast of the 2010 World Championship Finals VOD—Sunday, June 19, Saginaw, TX VOD—Friday, June 24, Muncie, IN LIVE/VOD—Saturday, June 25, Stanford, CA VOD—Monday, June 27, Bridgeport, CT VOD—Thursday, July 7, Akron, OH LIVE/VOD—Saturday, July 9, Denver, CO LIVE/VOD—Saturday, July 16, Minneapolis, MN LIVE/VOD—Saturday, July 23, San Antonio, TX LIVE/VOD—Saturday, July 30, Atlanta, GA VOD—Friday, Aug. 5, Allentown, PA VOD—Saturday, Aug. 6, Allentown, PA LIVE/VOD—Tuesday, Aug. 9, Michigan City, IN (Open Class World Championship Finals)LIVE/VOD—August 12 - Indianapolis, IN (DCI World Championship Semifinals) VOD (Live+DVD or Live+BLU subscribers only)—Saturday, August 13, Indianapolis, IN (DCI World Championship Finals) *Schedule subject to change
  24. Agree ... the TOC show in Murfreesboro was packed! One of the largest DCI crowds ever at MTSU ... and I might add most folks were in their seats for the first corps ... which was Nashville's Music City! Too bad no finale ... was great to the eyes and ears ...
  25. Someone updated their Excel worksheet as soon as the scores came up! LOL ... I know I did!
