  1. Holy crap I just read those, almost all are inappropriate. I'm semi tempted to sign up for an account to flag them.
  2. Holy crap, GH took a $176k salary from YEA! in 2016????? At least that's what the 990 says.
  3. I don't think anyone here WANTS that to happen. We're all aware of the effects that will have on everyone involved. That said, if DCI decrees it, it will happen, fair or not.
  4. Maybe I'm missing it, but what had happened to it, or was it still in that man's control?
  5. I don't think he knew the actual extent of the issue. I think he interpreted the comment in a way that wasn't ideal, but instead blew it off to GH being GH. I fully believe him when he says if he knew the extent he would have reacted different. He's in a lose-lose situation here. From what I've heard and read Sean is a good guy. This has to absolutely suck for him. And now he's marked, even if he's 100% innocent, as having dirty hands in this whole mess. The fallout from this will last for years to come, and may touch lots more people than any of us realize. I so want GH in jail right about now. The lives he's potentially ruined demand it.
  6. Sorry, Mr. King doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. Not now. He must wait out the investigative process. Fair? Probably not. But direct your anger at Mr. Hopkins and not the BoD. And, if Mr. King DID act inappropriately, he must accept the punishment. That's just the way it is. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't make it not necessary.
  7. While I was not a lead sop player, I recently had to have a chest x-ray redone because the tech said my lungs were "too big." I thank John Arietano and Mike Longdo for that one.
  8. Stay on topic please. My only saving grace THAT day was I was wearing the same color underwear as the uniform pants, otherwise it could have been additional GE points.
  9. PA's background checks are brutal, as are their reporting requirements. For example, as a volunteer firefighter, since I *might* come into contact with minor children I had to get the child abuse check plus go through the classes on reporting it. That's in addition to a PA State Police background check and an FBI background check. No fun at all. The only check I've been through that's been more thorough was my government background check for my security clearance. I would think YEAs staff would have to meet these same requirements.
  10. I say this with all the love and respect I can possibly muster. #### you Ream!
  11. I have to do the same ones you do...Since I'm also a government employee. I should check TWIMS and make sure.
  12. Its more like the same fire rekindling itself than a completely new fire.
  13. I had one removed too - apparently its frowned upon to show how to defeat tracking cookies. Its OK tho, I'll survive. :)
  14. If that's the case, then it will be proven in the investigation. You can choose to believe him, however, the BoD no longer has that luxury to trust his reputation. GH and the BoD ruined that for everyone involved. if you want to rail against anyone, it should be them. The current BoD will perform their due diligence.
  15. If he's telling the truth, then the BoD investigation will bear that out and he'll be exonerated. Unfortunately, YEA! doesn't have the luxury of the benefit of the doubt any longer. GH and the former board ruined that. So, the allegations have to be taken seriously, and the BoD has to be seen as being proactive. You can rail about it all you want. If the BoD DOESN'T do this, then DCI has the ability to shut The Cadets down for the year based on their probationary status. None of us want to see that.
  16. I'm with George D again (twice in a week, holy crap!) It's better here to err on the side of extreme caution.
  17. Well that didn't take long: Philly.com: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/cadets-drum-bugle-corps-george-hopkins-resigns-sexual-abuse-harassment-allentown-pennsylvania-20180406.html The Morning Call (Allentown local, it's the lead story on their webpage): http://www.mcall.com/news/breaking/mc-nws-allentown-cadets-director-george-hopkins-resigns20180406-story.html Lehigh Valley Live: http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/allentown/index.ssf/2018/04/allentown_drum_corps_director_g.html I don't think this is the publicity anyone wanted for Drum Corps. :/
  18. No. This is not allowed. Then it's settled. You're staying. Seriously, I've always enjoyed hearing you call shows. There's a particular show in 2003 (West Haven) and Finals that will forever live in my mind, and your calls of both of them are part of the reason. Enjoy retirement!
  19. Does a new director mean that the Cadets will lead with their left foot going forward??? *ducks and runs* (Trying to inject a little humor here, please don't flame)
  20. That's a terrible statement. The way I read it, YEA is trying to play that they're a victim. Bad move.
  21. What I'm saying is this - YEA takes this summer to get its act together, without having to worry about the logistics of a tour. By getting its act together I mean cleaning house - restructuring the BoD. Writing policies to prevent this from happening again. Working to get things back so that YEA can be trusted by the community at large, because, like it or not, this whole thing shatters the trust with the community. Yes, doing this would hurt. A lot. But you mention cutting out the cancer. After the cancer is cut out, there needs to be recovery. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not AT ALL saying this has to happen. I was just throwing something out there. I've seen good arguments on both sides of this which hold weight. If any organization COULD pull off touring while recovering from all this negativity, its the Cadets. They would absolute be that "Yeah? Watch this" corps to pull off a top 5 (or higher) placing while the angst swirls around them. I'm not sure there's a right answer to all this. But hey, at least we're having civil discussions about it.
