  1. Ok that makes sense. Feel Better Jimmy! :) I did see snippets of the Corps on Channel 9 news last night...waaay cool.
  2. Maybe I missed a meeting.... What happened to Jimmy Russo?
  3. Good..now I know which shows to bring my sunglasses to so that the glare from those shirts don't blind me!
  4. Hey Holly.... Should I come watch? :)
  5. It is ALL about the Frozen Custard. Pity I can't get down there this year.
  6. I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh this hard, but it's funny. If you think Joey can't march, you should see John "Screech" Aritaneo march.
  7. Come on, it's trumpets for sure. Everyone knows how to tune 8 Mellophones - Shoot 7. You don't hear that for Trumpets!
  8. Ebay didn't have anything I'd call suspicious this am, but I'm gonna keep an eye on it.
  9. I'd love to be there.....but... I'm gonna be slightly occupied that night - at my own reception. Congrats Cabs - 62 more years!
  10. Wow...that really sucks. Whoever decided that it would be a good idea to steal the trailer should be hung by his little toe nails. Props to Jersey Surf for the horns. What were the make/model of the horns? I do tend to surf e-bay quite a bit, so I'll keep my eye out. Also, to whom should we direct inquiries regarding s/n and the like?
  11. Checks aren't accepted, but some accept Lilliputians... But only in small denominations!
  12. Wow...this sounds 800x better than it did on live365. Nice!
  13. I think some people are confusing "trooping the stands" with playing off after retreat. I can count 10 times in 4 years where we didn't "troop the stands" after our performance (4 years DCA and 2 Hershey Performances). Now, not all shows were we allowed to play off after retreat (heck, a good 1/3 of the retreats were DM only). I enjoyed playing off, or, if we won, being played to after retreat. West Haven 2003 sticks out in my mind - Brigs were nothing but class as they played to us then played off (that was the show where we ended their winning streak) I wish they'd allow more playing off after retreat. But trooping the stands after the performance nearly always happens, and its nice to hear the cheers, people calling out to you, etc.
  14. My understanding was that this show was supposed to be at Rutgers University Stadium. I know renovations of the stadium have been approved. Maybe thats why they were asked to move. But, I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, today even!
  15. If you don't hear that command, you'll hear "Cease firing" That's your cue. I played taps for my uncle in 2004. It's emotional, but I cherish the thank you I received from my aunt like no other. I'll do it when my grandfather passes on. I'll have to find a horn... If you can do it, do it. It's rewarding to see the family appreciate the honor, and the VFW/AL will appreciate the rendering too.
  16. Band camps are usually mid-August here in the Northeast. Also, weekend rehearsals usually start around this time for the competetive Marching Bands, so there's your conflict.
  17. Dale: Don't wanna split hairs here, but I think that the 2007 format has been that way since about 2002. Sky was told in 2002 that if we cracked the top 12 (it was 12 that year and 2003), we'd compete in open class finals instead of Class A, if we won that. Our goal prelims day was to make top 12. We didn't, but won Class A. However, and I could be wrong (and have been before), there wasn't a separate "Class A" prelims, we were pretty much seeded where we would have been had we stayed Open class that year. EDIT: 2002 was a top 12 year for DCA finals as opposed to top 10.
  18. I would love to see DCI return to the older format for finals: Have Div II/III finals done by quarters for Div 1. Then, allow the top 3 from Div II/III compete in quarters or however it worked. Don't make it mandatory, but let them have the option of competing. Let the kids who win Div II/III have another day to competitively perform their show. It also allowed those Div II corps who were considering the jump to Div I know if they're ready. The format now stinks. (And yes, I know its open and world class and whatever. I'm non-conformist! )
  19. The majority of the shows are currently in the East. That has been the traditional home of DCA for many years. The explosion of non-eastern DCA corps only started recently, and DCA has a reqirement that 3 DCA corps need to attend a show for it to be sanctioned. I expect that you'll see more non-Northeast shows as the next couple of years move along. That said, looking at the list showed, it's a 17/10 split NE/Non-NE for 2008 (Counting DCA Finals as 1 big show, but I could have miscounted)
  20. Gonna call ######## here on the DCA comment. You can't possibly tell me that the DCA champion corps from 2000 on (and probably earlier than that) couldn't compete with a DCI "Super" Corps today. Because I'll tell you, they could. I'm not saying they'd beat them, but I'm convinced that all the DCA champions from 2000 (and possibly even the top 3) until now would place as semi-finalist corps at minimum if they competed in DCI finals. Yeah it's speculation, but the quality in DCA is that good now, even for weekend warriors. AND, if you gave those top DCA coprs the ability to rehearse as much as the DCI corps currently rehearse, they'd be just as good.
  21. Don't worry Frank, just ignore Steve. That's what we did in the OT forums, and he eventually went away.
