  1. I overheard a yea staffer, evidenced by his shirt and name tag, telling some folks, that Boston refused to move their props because they said they couldn't get a good enough grip to move their props around the field....
  2. they would have done better to leave the drama in 2018 and move forward with a clean slate .
  3. This is why I rarely ask questions here ... skevinp - no need for a snarky response. I was attempting to get an answer on why Morrison's control over crossmen is being viewed differently than Hopkins control over yea. garfield - but Morrison is the ED of the bod and the corps director, what kind of controls can be set up to police him?
  4. I am not a regular here on DCP, I sometimes read, but rarely post, in the 15 years I've been a member, I probably haven't posted more than a dozen times. I am a drum corps participant from the late 60's, early 70's, not connected, not involved in the background, just a fan. That being said, I have a question. If I read correctly, wasn't one of the concerns from the Cadets issue that these women felt they had no where to go to voice their concerns because Hopkins controlled the bod? Well, if Morrison is the corps director and the ED of Crossmen Productions, where does anyone go to report abuse? I thought I saw a handful of remarks by female staffers at Crossmen stating they were uncomfortable around this guy, but didn't say anything because they didn't feel Morrison would do anything? If Morrison is the corps director and the ED of the bod, doesn't he have the same control over Crossmen that Hopkins had at yea? Except for the fact that Morrison is well liked and Hopkins is obviously not well liked, what am I missing here?
  5. so, he doesn't know how to hire the right person and the board is doing what about that? seems to me that would be a good time for the board chair or the head of the audit or finance committee to step in and make a good hire and give that person at least a dotted line reporting responsibility to the audit and/or finance committee? no?
  6. this is what the 5th time in the last 12 - 18 months this job has been posted. what happened to the cfo he was raving about in august?
  7. doubtful this person was a yea employee, I've known many a former and know many current yea employees. I don't know a single one who would describe hopkins as brilliant
  8. the "uniform" has change multiple times in the last 15 years. there now exists an entire collection, in a variety of colors, of uniforms, (no pants with stripes) to be used as desired. none have been sold, all are on one of the corps or in storage waiting for their next unveiling. the only people left who care are the alumni, (maybe a few long time fans) and unfortunately, their soul was sold to the devil 30 some odd years ago. interestingly enough, if you marched in 2011 and 2012, ( i think those are the correct years) you never wore the traditional uniform. it is his corps and he can do what he likes. no one even tries to challenge him anymore. every year or so, a few alumni get rattled and make an attempt to rally the troops in defense of whatever tradition he has tossed aside that year, but it always dies down in a matter of a few hours. fortunately for him, some of the alumni are die hards and will support him for the sake of the kids, while telling each other how much they despise his leadership and speculate about the future or lack thereof of their corps in the event of his demise. and since he is very vocal about his plans to live to be 102, his demise is a good 40 years away... yeah, it's summer and gh and the cadets alumni are at odds again.
  9. My niece's HS marching band competed in a YEA!/USSBA event at the Hershey stadium last year.
  10. That may be true now, but in your original post, I believe you said from day one all corps have always had a vote, and I don't think that is correct. In the beginning I believe only the top 12 corps were considered DCI corps, the next 13 were associate members and the rest were not taken into consideration. 1972 was a long time ago, and I could be wrong, but I really don't think all the corps had a DCI vote back then. In the beginning of DCI the power was held by 12 men who wanted more money for their corps efforts and to change the direction of the activity to their vision, which is kind of what the G7, and that includes ALL seven not just two, were looking to do. Agree or disagree with the G7, I'm not seeing much difference from the original intent of DCI.
  11. Really? From day one all corps have had a vote? I seem to remember, the top twelve corps were considered DCI corps, the next thirteen were considered associated members, with no votes. And the rest were ............
  12. has been a yea show for over ten years now. get over it.
  13. please stay home. i am tired of listening to the former drum coprs fan complaining about everything every corps does. if you don't enjoy drum corps 2011 then ave your money. just stay home and complain on DCP. those of us who want to enjoy the show thank you.
  14. hope those alumni are as passionate about supporting the corps financially and as volunteers as they are about a uniform.... wonder how many of their names are on the cadets donor list.....
