Ding ding ding. So the powers that be are going to have to have a real hard look going forward about where to draw the line between allowing creative design and use of equipment versus placing more and more restrictions on the types of venues that can host events and whether it's a good idea to shrink the list of potential show sites solely for the sake of not stifling creativity in show design. As for other/better venues in the area, UDel is probably the best option in the nearby area. ULafayette in Easton has a nice-sized facility with turf, but parking is pretty non-existent. It's a real pity that DCI will never be able to get back to Hersheypark Stadium anytime soon- that could be a great solution. -
Totally understandable and well-deserved.

Sounds like they don't have anyone paying much attention to their website.

I'm very happy with the progress Kosmos has made this year. When the season started, it was looking like it'd be a rough year but they have turned it around and gotten themselves into contention with several recent show wins including some major events.

How do the Cadets right the ship?

Nah, it's just drum corps season. -
Madison Scouts now officially co-ed
Galen replied to vferrera's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
If that's the case, I wonder if the alumni corps is also going to adopt this policy? -

But you don't exactly hear of any efforts to form an all-female corps these days either. Last I can recall was Bandettes, who folded about 15 years ago if I recall. -

I'm sure that the alumni are all united in support of this change... 😒 -
People will still be on here griping about how drum corps was better back when they marched. Just the only difference is that it will be coming from the kids who are currently marching today. 😋

So did his post count roll back over to 1 like an old car's odometer? 😁

Awesome! I'm somewhatnew to Discord but I'll check it out.

Kosmos, Steel City Sound and Enchantment will be back in action for season 29! Enchantment will be doing a partial schedule but Kosmos and Steel City will be on the road for the whole tour. Looks like there are going to be some definite challenges in plotting out captions with the various spreads and gaps in points between corps this season. Out of curiosity, why are Oregon Crusaders still useable if they're not marching this year?

I'd add Twitch streaming to that as well.

Western Corps Connection 2019 SHOW MOVED
Galen replied to Jeffe77's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
According to DCI's schedule, there is still an open class show scheduled at Wheelock on 7/18. This was originally scheduled to be in Norwalk CA if memory serves. -
I know exactly where they could put her plaque.

Keep the Amps out of drum corps, part dos
Galen replied to Jeff Ream's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Why on earth was this brought back to life? Mods, please close. -
I listen to them more for the ranting (because schadenfreude) and not for any substantial info. And I tend to take what I hear with a mountain of salt.

Pioneer's DCI Membership Has Been Revoked
Galen replied to Cadevilina Crown's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
The latest from Pioneer: https://pioneer-corps.org/news-from-the-top/842-news-from-the-top-january-17th,-2019.html?fbclid=IwAR2e59me-pFKp8_RAPfTXjaNy8nf_zxmEY_ZLykPr9wGnQtTi0M2ca120R4 It is worth noting that for the first time, Roman actually makes an effort to apologize and take some responsibility for the situation, but I think his perspective remains flawed. Contrary to his opening statement, DCI did not "sacrifice" anyone; Roman sacrificed the corps' standing by refusing to step aside. And describing the situation as "the mess the corps is in" rather than "the mess I ( Roman) caused" shows that he still doesn't feel fully accountable for what he has caused.
