I've read most of the thread but hear is a word that hardly anybody today does or knows about :
EXECUTION - everyone performing the same thing, at the same time with sharpness and crispness.
Being tight together.
I have seen very little of this in DCI lately !! lol
Linda, The Golden Triangle Championships, changed it's name to the Canadian Open in about 1982, the year Dutch Boy won the Class 'A' DCI Championship.
...there still is a Kitchener and Waterloo, only much bigger now !!!!
Oh, Linda, Jody says HI !!!!
Jon gets his talent form his father Peter who died in 1978, who wrote drill for the Dutch Boy Cadets and Ventures in the early 70's !!
Jon is a alum of Dutch Boy !! Boy are we PROUD of him !!
Unfortunately, DCI and the folks that run it don't really care about tradition or the things that MADE drum corps what it was !!
Having retreat the embarassing mess it was made me yearn for the good ol' days of yester year.
To all the kids who bust their collective butts this past year, my hat goes off to all of you. It's to bad that DCI decided to not make your last night of performance the kind of memory you deserved.
As for me, I have seen my last DCI show.
I guess I'll just fade out of the DCI scene and go join my friends at DCA !!!
If the BoD adds woodwinds in ANY way.......we'll see what happens.
Drum corps as I knew it died when they got rid of BUGLES !!!!
Remember DRUM & BUGLE CORPS ?
Well, the true die hard drum & bugles corps fans do...too bad DCI doesn't !!
Matt, what DCI SHOULD and DO show are two totally different things.
They should also show retreat on the finals DVD since it will be in HD 5.1 this year !!!!
I'm not taking anything from anyone.
All the kids in all the corps are doing their very best...they always do !!!!
Drum corps in the one thing that everyone tries just as hard as the next kid.
Good luck to all the corps !!!
