  1. The Renegades came to Winston-Salem in July, 2005. That show started the chain of events that let to me becoming a member of the Renegades in 2006.
  2. Paul was great! He showed up at our rehearsal site tonight and had my braces re-soldered in less than the time it took to do a couple production runs of our ballad. He even reconnected the "octave key" on a couple of baritones, and we were all up and running for our final run-through of the night. I was surprised at how inexpensive he was. The last time I had my horn in the shop for those very same braces it was more than 3x what Paul charged. I hope he didn't think I was being sarcastic when I said "is that all?!?" when he told me the price. Thanks again for the info Tom.
  3. Thanks Tom for Paul's contact info. I just got off the phone with him. He seems like a nice guy. He actually offered to come to meet me at our hotel. You mean you can't roll your own bell?!? Didn't you learn anything in your time with the Renegades, Keith?
  4. I hear that there is someone who will be at the shows this weekend to do horn repairs. Does anyone know if he will be at I & E, or will I have to wait until Prelims? Thanks
  5. Funny, I remember in '05 prelims, the lack of humidity caused me to have cotton mouth during the opener.
  6. In my semi-informed opinion: #1 I believe Srs are getting a performance fee now for DCI-Pacific shows. At all of the DCI/DCI-P sponsored/hosted shows, the All-Age corps have to perform first. At the show that we (Renegades) hosted, the All-Age corps performed last. It was still still considered a DCI show, however.
  7. Having at least 3 DCA Corps on the West Coast and the shows that it would make possible would make all three corps eligible to vote at DCA Rules Congress if they make the top 10, and would also give them the opportunity to have shows in August where our scores would affect our seeding at prelims.
  8. In my unqualified opinion, I believe that would be feasible the season after the West Coast sends 3 corps to DCA. If the Freelancers keep it up, we might even get 4!
  9. Sounding good! I can't wait to see you guys in Dublin. I'm sorry I didn't see you to say hi in Stockton.
  10. Way to Go! I hope I get to see you guys this year.
  11. I just spoke to the parking garage. They close at Midnight every day. They said that the garage at Embarcadero 1 (the building next door to Chevy's) will be open until 1:00 am on the evening of the parade. If you get Chevy's to validate, 4 hours of your parking are free. In the past few years, I've parked there just after rehearsal, did the parade, ate at Chevy's, left Chevy's at around 11 or 12, and ended up paying $10.00 for parking. It looks like they've raised their rates a bit, so it might be a little more now. Embarcadero Parking Info
  12. That would be sooooo awesome. The very steep pitch of the stands is perfect for drum corps. In reality, though, I don't think they allow alcohol in the stadium (At least they didnt when I was there), and they have home games in 2010 and 2011 on Labor Day weekend. Also a beautiful area, I haven't seen the stadium since 1991, but I remember it being shallow. The same issues with alcohol and schedule conflicts may apply. On a separate question, when they say there will be an 8-12 million dollar impact, do they mean revenue, damages, or is that after damages are subtracted from revenue. :-)
