  1. I almost forget. Please let me know who and which corps that you think I should see. Such as, the Joker, I really want to talk about their corps. PS. I SUCCESSFULLY know how to reach the event.
  2. hey guys, I 'm back in Osaka again, searching for information of going to Okayama. It ;s pretty easier than I thought about taking Shinkansen around. But, it 's pretty harder than I estimated about taking subway. All every line must be noticeed in Japanese, confusing and too many lines. Anyway, I already get the information of reaching Okayama and got that The Yokohama Scouts take a hotel pretty close to Okayama Station. I HOE that I will take therie bus(or truck). Please notice people in each corps that you guys know. I really want to talk to them as much as I can. I need many interresting information such as, history, style, condition, DCJ season, and more and more interesting story about Japanese Drum Coprs. I will return to Thailand and write some article about Japanese drum corps. For people in marching society, hopefully they will know much more than Aimachi and Soka. Most imortant, for all people, I will try to put this article in a public magazine for them to read and know how is tha community music activity to open the world of drum corps to society. PS. hey, it was terribly rain in Tokyo on yesterday. I thought it was an endless rain, all day and until late night. I walked around Ginza under the rain after I lost an umbrella by the strong wind. Anyway, today( Sat) is a very nice sunny day, unfortunately, I have to catch a Shinkansen back here to 'Osaka, don't have much time to go around, CShinjuku, Harajuku, Imperial Palace........
  3. I 've been here in Osaka for almost 30 hours. Things are incredible great, food, place, people. I will head to Tokyo coming morning and will reach there before noon. Unfortunately thatI need to head back here again on th 7th of Oct. Nut, I 'm sure that I will see the activity of The Yokohama Scouts. I still want to see Tokyo corps during 6-7 of October. Any corps practice or rehears on that day? And how about after 9th of Oct, I really want to talk to as many corps as I can to get some idea. I decide to write an article about Japanese drum corps for Thai people which mostly know only DCI and Aimachi Macrhing Band.
  4. ็Hey guys, I 'm leaving Thailand in 12 hours. I already plan of going to Okayama and Tokyo, JR pass ticket is already bought. I don't really know ecactly my plan will be, but I will try to visit the Okayama event on 9th of Oct. But I also really want to visit many Tokyo corps, including marching band, The Soka. Unfortunately, I cant reach any contact of The Soka. I just get a reply from Ms.Miyuki of Yokohama Scouts which will participate Marching In Okayama. I just curious how 's The Robin and Inspire. Just in case, I will be in Tokyo on 6-7th of October please give me some contacts, such as phone number or anything else, for me if I can't eventually get more information. I will try to find some internet overthere with bringing my computer along with me almost everywhere I 'll be. Thanks so much, good luck for you all and.... me
  5. just curious that, how far from Osaka to Okayama? I just 've been told from one of my friend in Tokyo that ".... possibly happen that 90% of Japanese you meet in every day life will not an English speaker. It doesn't mean that they can't speak, but they just don't wanna speak to foreiners......" I 'm trying to get a fastest lesson of Japanese communication, just for survive :) I just get some book of oftenly use conversation. Hopefully, it could help me.
  6. Unfortunately, I just check with my scheadule and found that I will stay in Tokyo just a few days ( 4-6 Oct ) and head to Osaka and live in that area until 16th of October. That 's mean, I won 't able to attend the Tokyo Drum Corps 's activities .... :( Do you guys know about that area, Osaka ? Is there any drum corps, community marching band( similar to Aimachi and Soka ) and drum corps or marching event ?
  7. Thanks you guys for incredible response!! I will be there too!! I 'm thinking of DCJ event in Tokyo. Please let me know if you get more information of the event, coz I think that English finformation will not be post on DCJ webpage :( My only hope to get there is just YOU :) What if I want to hang out with some corps for the time that I will be there? I fon't know that they will rehearse only weekend or everyday? But the thingy is, will they mind if I hang out aroiund there rehearsal site? This year I will go to USA for joining MBI on December but I and my friend(DanoZ) really want to march with Japanese corps. May be the next 1 or 2 years we will go there to join some corps. I wish to get lots more information during this October trip to Tokyo.
  8. sell, I 'm planning a trip to Tokyo on this coming October. I heard that will be a marching band event on October, 9. Anyone know about this event. But it is not my target. My aim is visiting and attend as many Japancese corps ' activities as I can!! I search about Japanese corps around Tokyo and found The Yokohama Scouts, INSPIES, Pheonix and Soka Vanguard. Unfortunately, I can't contact them directly ( I could send email to Scouts but couldn 't get the way to contact other corps though I already hooked up to theri page ). I think many of you around here could help me abouit this: 1. Any idea abouit what is that event on October, 9 ? 2.How is Japanese drumcorps doing on early October? 3.Which corps I should visit and which is "can 't miss!!" if I will stay in Tokyo area? 4. Not only drumcorps, how about marching band, is there any unmissable band in Tokyo area? Moreover, if anyone of you can be or know someone can be my "short cut" to contact corps in Tokyo, please help me. I pretty need these information as soon as possibe to make a decision and complete my plan. Ape
  9. For the upcoming winter season, I 'm curuous that how many method for tunning and cound creating for the indoor drums? For Snares, as similar as the outdoor drumline, there 're more than 20 sounds of snaredrum just from the DCI Div i !!, some so dry, some so wet, some so high and some so low. How could we do for 13" snare for indoor. In Thailand, one of the most famous and powerful percussion instructor says that..." In America, people use newspaper for muting the snare in an indoor drums. With the paper, the air inside it will not be able to move down to the bottom head and shell as much as it could with out the paper. So, the result ou 'll get is the short and clear snare sound, none of resonance will disturb during indoor performance. Also for Basses, put much more paper in the bigger size of them until you love it." I don't againts this method, just curious how 's others idea and what will you guys do for indoor performance. Basses, I wused to tune the basses with EVAN head and semms very easy to control it with indoor using. Though we use 18" for the smallest one, we still able to hear the tone and none of overtone inside the gym. I put NOTHING but the foam given from EVAN head and tuned it exttremely gigh to make the head harder and let the foam harder touch the surface. On the bottom, add one and ah quater of YAMAHA foam round the head next ot the foam from EVAN. We can't use 28" or more for Thai students, it 's too heavy for them to march comfortly. I tune the 26" one as low as it can and foaming it as I said to make it "sherter" and kick just and the big attack of the line. How 's the opinion of what I do and other process to work with the basses? Tener, For me I love the overtone of the head just as the timp sound. The same famous instructor put lot of tapes and pieces of cloths under the head on the position that you will never play on it ( almost 2 oclock on the right drums) te tener sounds "thick". We can hear the sond of mallets attack on the head clearly with out the tonal behind. How to deal with the tenerline for indoor percussion? I just curious, any method you do, did, have done, had done, heard is ok. If you can give me some support of how is it, like or dislike, it could be great. Thanks guys

    Flamable

Thanks for your information up there. Well, I also would like to know the year that it was found and also, how it turn to be a cadence for many field shows in mid-western area. Actually, in '03, with Chops, I had a chance to be in a drumline after the show to play Flamables ( thanks guys, it was one of my unforgetable moment!! ) and marched in to the field with drummers from every corps performed that day. I really wonder how/when it happen? Thanks by the way for your information. Anyone has other story about that cadence, please drop it down below. Ape

    Flamable

A famous "Flamable" become one of the most famous cadence and warmup for drumline in Thailand w've been brought to many school by people marched in Mid West. But none of the kid know about hte history and how it is used. I would like to collect the information such as who wrote this music, when was the first time it was used, how differs between the last version and the first original one, ect education is not only play it, understanding what it is will be better for youngsters. This is my idea. Thank you very much
  13. Hey guys, Siamyth is going to move to the next step in 2006 season. Our program co is going to return from conducting with Aimachi Marching Band and going to annouce the schedule of 2006. Some insiders 's information which is not confirmed yet let lots of people here thinking Siamyth will move to the next level. First rumours is changing the percussion caption head. Siamyth hold Mu(Paopan, Scouts 2002) working with arranging and instruct on 2003-2005. We also get Go(BK 2003) teach the drumline on 2005. After Mu return from Austria, he turns himself a little bit away from drumline job. As the same tim Kasem( Scouts 99,2000) finished his first project called "Bangkok Society Drumline" and catch the place of percussion caption head. He is the demonstrater for Pearl which support Siamyth 's drums. Siamyth will chops harder and louder in the next season under the direction of Kasem. Also, colorguard section will be added to the corps in 2006. The corps will be expanded to 80-90 members. Many new comers will be on the open day which in January, after the national marching compettition. I think, there 're some serprising this season. Maybe, Siamyth goes South Korea !! Also, the latest news about drum corps in Thailand is "we are going to get the second corps!!". The instruments dealer that wnated to support Siamyth in '06 canceled the offer and going to form the second corps with the joing with 4-5 people who marched with Aimachi. This news is not annoiuced yet about the information, but seems that Go is going to get the place of percussion directer there. Others who join BK may move to help this corps.( hornestly, I 'm thinking about going to work with this corps too, coz my band director that I 'm teaching with him is going to be one of the instructer in this corps ). We are waiting for the third corps and then we soonly form the DCT (Drum Corps Thailand). Hoping that drum corps from Philippine, Indonesia or even Japan join DCT compettition in the future. At this time, 6 Thai people is looking for spots with Phanthom and Bluecoats '06 season. And they surely will be back to help forming the DCT organization. In the passed 7 years, we 've had almost 40 people marhed in USA and Japan. Most of us working together making drum corps organization and teaching marching bands. After we have more than that number of people, the best way is we sepperately work and froming more corps in other part of Thailand. It is what we are thinking. A.Prasopsub
  14. WAMSB will hosted in South Korea in 2006. Will any corps interrested to go there? As I 've heard, there 're 3-4 Thai marching bands ( actually, they are drum corps coz they all use front bell marching brass without woodwind) including 2 bands that I 'm teacing are preparing for giong there. It would be great if the student have a chance to see the performances of drum corps. As from WMC, my friend had a chance to meet BD and they got great experiences from them.
  15. I just see this page and found that the date of posting was 2002. I 'm wondering that, Siamyth didn't have much activities during that year. It was the year that we started to form the corps. How could you guys hear about drum corps in Thailand?? In 2002, it was just 4 people marched in The Scouts and Soutwind with 4-5 people went to observe with the corps there. However, if you still need more media, such as photo, sounds or vdo, please let me know. I hold tuns of the Siamyth 's media. Actually, the CD including 2005 performs will be finished in October.
