  1. No doubt! "Its MusicManNJ (new super hero; come on, work with me "Man" is in the name.) - To DCI and beyond. I've come to save the day!"
  2. I love your "enough" comments. You never seem to point out what would be "enough" or how specifically, all that needs to be done should be done, soup-to-nuts. I get it, you want more. Either do more yourself or outline "exactly" what you want to see done. My main issue with your comments, is that they lack context. You want to apply a cookie cutter to DCI that YEA has used. There is a simple reason why that has not happed...it won't work.
  3. My Bad Jeff, i was indorsing your comment, not poking at it. The lack of MusicManNJ's quote was missing from my post. I made a similar comment to MusicManNJ earlier in the thread. Please carry on.
  4. Oh Wait, someone new questioning your motives...SUPRISE!
  5. hehehe...yea, that's what your doing, fixing things. You surmized I worked for DCI...interesting; no idea how you got there. Which overreacting are you referenceing? I guess you don't like questions. Moving on...
  6. Yes, things get proved, some people have facts. I dont like BS, happy to call people on it. No, I dont work for DCI. Good luck foul balling me. I've never mentioned fixing DCI. Regardless, I don't need to fix DCI.
  7. I would not call myself a freeloader so that answers that. The Marines don't have a recruiting problem. I find it very unlikely the DoD would allow the Marine Corps (or the Navy, by extension) to give a dime to DCI on their behalf. I guess you don't have any proof, no shock there.
  8. Not true, sometimes sponsorship is association without any funding exchanging hands. I could have sworn the Marines have Drum Corps and DCI is a Drum Corps organization...Nice try, proof please. *spelling*
  9. I fully agree with the sentiment. But I'm not big on "opinion driven" results. I prefer the facts, thus my questions. I'm also big on "talk is cheap" and prefer "doing." I would prefer to not throw stones as I live in a Glass House. I won't point out what is wrong without a potentially useful fix action. My comments are not meant to disparage you...but to be honest up to now I could not clearly define you're intent. On with the Rowing..."...row well and live..."
  10. You've answered zero of my questions to you. My comment stands.
  11. More misdirect... I question your motives. Nothing to see here...
  12. Quote Garfield: Twice "...cover up..."? Wow. Some mighty big, powerful, and unproven contentions in your post." "Again, DCI would applaud how Cadets have handled their situation and, I'd lay you odds, the DCI BoD would applaud how Dan has handled himself so far. I think you're confusing what you'd like to see happen with what is actually possible from DCI under the current structure. YEA! and DCI have different job descriptions; to conflate one for the other is in error regardless of your personal desires." Ms Farris' indorsement of how YEA has weathered this storm is not an indictment of DCI. You don't have a way ahead other than "do what YEA does?" Fair enough, all involved could perhaps communicate better. Bottome Line: You have provided no information or data that supports your asertions, nothing you said indicates to the cover up/conspricy in your previous posts or the need to see Dan gone with no "competent" replacement. If you have something more substantive to say...please say it!
  13. ...and the inconpetence is shown where exactly? If you're thinking the Directors work for DCI, that's NOT the case. If you're thinking DCI can control all the Directors, that's not the case either. What exactly would you like to see DCI do that would reflect "competence" on this issue? *fixed*
  14. On Target! Agree 100% on Dan. Collaborate, focus on the collective good, protect the members and activity as a whole.
  15. "I really wish you were right." - You've provided no data or information to bolster your perspective or disprove other points of view. "But from what I have been privy to I do not think so." - Such As...? "I believe the media is now driving this story." - No kidding, that's what the media does. However, which story are you focusing on, the greater issue, April 2018 YEA, YEA now, Pioneer, or something else? "Attempts to have the corps/DCI become proactive instead of reactive have fallen on deaf ears." - I'm assuming you've been engaged at some level with an organization on this issue. What did you try to do and how did it turn out so poorly? "That is why DCI has had to put out press releases to clean up fro previous press releases. This is why I believe Dan A needs to be replaced and more independent directors elected." - I'm not a conspiracy guy, I don’t buy that DCI spends a great deal of its time covering its behind to hide the truth. Again, if you want perfection, inform DCI how they should be doing it or, go down there take a job on DCI's staff and do it yourself. I love how people think, “Fire This Guy” will solve a problem. It may solve issues generated by an individual but someone has to fill the void. The job Dan is doing is a very important one and it needs to be done by someone competent. We’ve seen the same faulty logic applied on DCP, ref the Madison Scouts. Regardless, who do you propose should take over the Directorship of DCI? I don’t understand your “independent directors” comment, can you explain that? "The corps directors are calling the shots and it all centers on self interest/self preservation not realizing that taking this stance will only make it worse when the stories continue to cascade forth... which they will. Not a matter of if... just when. The effects of a coverup is always worse than that of the original incident." - This comment appears to bash Corps Directors. Unless you’ve done the job, you simply don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Any thought that Directors only have their personal interest in mind is less than ill-informed. People make mistakes but that is not an indictment of our activity or the Directors in total. Our activity is not half-empty, its well over half-full.
  16. Cynical much? You’ve provided no additional facts, no additional specific cases, just commentary what others have reported on within the media and DCI. IMO, what happened at YEA was a positive wake up call to ensure we don’t perpetuate the past and call out what is happening today. Let us know when you find perfection in any walk of life.
  17. I was blessed to compete against and see 27th several times that year...he was great.
  18. 1978 Madision Scouts - Baritone Solo performed by Perry Smith in God Bless the Child.
  19. Would love it if someone would do more of Bernard Herrmann's music from the film North by Northwest. Blue Devil's 2000 use of this music was amazing.
  20. Phantom Regiment is the best name in DCI, but I've always loved the sound of Santa Clara Vanguard. Some fun Drum Corps names: Osage Precisionnaires Marquis General Butler Vagabonds Fox Valley Raiders Silver Sabers (there were two, one from PA and one from KS)
  21. 1 – Vanguard – SCV has built a staff, paralleled only by BD. This year, they won their 1st Ott since 1984, and percussion with ~52 age outs from ’17. They didn’t show up in the top 3 overnight. Their 17-18 placements were not flukes, they were the logical progression of a staff that not only gells at a very high level but understands how to field a superior product, recruit talent and teach excellence. Unless they have a major change on staff, expect SCV to dominate DCI, win multiple championships and stay at/near the top. 2 – Blue Devils – ITS BD! They will build a killer program but it won’t be enough to catch SCV. The competition between SCV and BD will be legendary and will make DCI all the more exciting. BD could also “win undefeated after a 2nd place” once again. Will be fun to see. 3 – Crown – Crown will challenge for Brass and Percussion which will help them get them past Bloo and hold off Boston, but issues with visual will hold them back and continue to cause GE shortfalls. 4 – Boston – Boston is for real. Their 17 and 18 programs were amazing and very well performed. A great show design and a little more talent, could put them in to 3rd or 2nd. 5 – Bluecoats – Honestly Bloo has very few performance weaknesses, show design will decide whether they get 4th or 5th as Boston continues to surge. 6 – Cadets – Cadets will be challenged recruiting talent, other than that show designed just won’t be a issue. Don’t be surprised if they push Bloo down a place and take 5th. 7 – Cavaliers – Loved the 17 program, 18 seemed like they were just trying to make a point. Let’s hope they don’t waste all that talent on “statement programs” that are not seamless. An aggressive program with not too many gimmicks and better props integration will serve them well. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 – Blue Stars are strong will stay in 8th, Mandarins will move up, Crossmen will remain strong and move up, Blue Knights and Phantom will move down. Spirit could surge and get into finals. Predict Phantom would be the 13th in that case. Madison – I don’t think a staff and leadership “fire sale” is the best course of action. Hire a Staff Coordinator (with vision) that has the power to ensure a seamless and effective product is on the field, fix financial issues along with living within means, and many issues will resolve themselves. Recruit (staff (where needed) and members) like crazy! - Do these things and a spot in finals could be yours.
  22. Placements are fun but I hope for a very fun, competitive, and entertaining season.
