  1. Yes... black dress pants, black shoes, and any corps jacket.
  2. Any playing musician that lives in the greater tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) is invited to join an all-star cast of drum corps musicians to march in the 2009 St Patricks Day Parade in NYC on Tuesday, March 17th. 3. Hi All, My name is Bill Losier and I run TZB Music out of Westchester County. We've been asked to assemble an all-star corps representing the greater tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) to march in NYC's St Patricks Day Parade on Tuesday, March 17th. We are looking for brass musicians. We will play one (or two) song(s) and will email parts the week after next. Anyone interested in marching please contact me at tzbridgemen@optonline.net ASAP. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks
  4. NY... just north of NYC. It'd be a helluva commute from Kalamazoo! (I got a gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal... )
  5. Age doesn't matter... but... you MUST be a STRONG player. Endurance to play a lot, range to hit the notes, ability to read music, etc... how old are you?
  6. I'm an accomplished pro trumpeter and school band director. Play sensibly. 2 hours a day is too much, especially if you're playing every day. Treat your lips like a body builder treats his muscles. REST is very important for growth. 4 months of 2-hour workouts is pretty intense stuff, especially when you took almost 30 years off! Vary your exercises. Don't do the same exercises every day. Buzz on the mouthpiece while driving... but give yourself some rest time, too. What night(s) does the corps rehearse? Perhaps take that next day off (completely) to recoup. Don't beat yourself up, concentrate on the processes involved with producing a good tone and always use clean technique. Endurance will come. Use the Arbans book, toot on some "fun tunes" that don't necessarily challenge your range. Breathe properly... watch how much pressure you use... etc, etc... Be well and good luck, Bill Losier
  7. I can scream when needed and I can "play the tar" out of a part, too. My philosophy is: "The high notes mean nothing if the notes around them are not played correctly. " A scream that comes from "nowhere" is just a scream that comes from nowhere. Play a lead in and (preferably the melody) and hit me with a climax and I'm impressed. Sand-bag it and only hit the high note... um... ok. Just my .02 cents.
  8. Tappan Zee Bridgemen B) The Tappan Zee Bridgemen is a professional group that provides brass musicians for parades, club dates, wedding ceremonies, etc... We are looking for STRONG, drum & bugle corps trained brass musicians (that read) to field bands to participate in events all along the Hudson Valley corridor. This year (2004) our parade calendar alone is up to 32 events. This is a PAID GIG. Nothing less than $75 per event and sometimes as high as $320 (travel gigs). Our book is non-traditional. If you visit our website, you can hear clips of our book on the "Marching Band" page. Go!!! What are you waiting for? If it interests you to know more and would like to speak to a human being (or the resemblence of one)... contact Bill Losier at (914) 524-0963. Thank you, Bill
