  1. What about when Jenn (baritone) almost didnt make the show, and she found us like 5 minutes before we went on. Priceless. Would have been fun trying to adjust on the fly.
  2. I will f'ing buy a horn and walk if we could get all the members to reform this sunken treasure... I know of a handful that might be able to. The rest have scattered and I don't blame them really. As much crap as we put up with the past 6 weeks, hell 6 months, we could really use this opportunity to get out of the funk. I foresee a bigger legal battle if we did though. I dont think the music lic. has been paid yet along with a million other things. I will bring it up to the bunch that are still on life support, see what happens. I am totally down for it. River City Revival.... Catchy!
  3. Seeing Kelli at the Loomis show... I mean, seeing RCR at Loomis in '03 is what finally swayed me to join. That was a great show. I remember saying to myself how good they were for such a small group. I still say that.. lol I have so many memories of being in this group, where to start... Ok Jazz Jubilee was fun. Free beer who can say that was bad... LMS was great too in '04; the crowd, the sound of such a small hornline filling up the room. That's what RCR is known most for, being so loud for a small group. Guess we are more like the Renegades after all... lol L.A. tour 2004, OMG what a great time. The Bus! All those that were on it know what I am talking about, specifically the back.. Need I say more. Ok I will. I passed out a few Playboy mags to get things started.. And it worked. Maybe because it was my first year but 2004 as a whole was great. Ok next big memory was probably 2006 in a little stadium in Stockton. Those that followed our group will remember the first triumph over evil... lol Next up; 2005. This show kicked well it will be blanked out... The show concept was awesome. Music, drill, greatest show aside from what was being planned this season. 2003 is my favorite still though. Biggest in membership and the music was just awesome, I still play it. The Loomis encore! WCS from every year! Home show under the lights and last on. That is a great feeling. And finally; stepping onto the field in Modesto for what would be the last time. I was hitting things I missed in practice, feeling like I had my best show ever. The crowd was into it. And we beat or rivals from down south. Can you write a better script than that? Ok I am sure you can, but a good way to end it since we had to.
  4. Oh and get a loud mouthpiece already, and you wont have to worry about burning your lips ever again. Things are amazing to play on.
  5. The heat is just a motivator and keeps us in prime shape to kick ### when we get to a nicer environment. I mean to say you really don't want to have to do things more than once when its 100-110 going through run throughs. RCR will be missed, especially to all those that gave up so much to do this thing in the first place. We had another great season just getting started and the door is shut; probably forever if the Attorney General has anything to say about this mess. So don't expect to see RCR any longer. If the name survives I would be very surprised. It is California so anything can happen in the courts. Crap that's why RCR did the pledge of alligiance at shows in '02. Stupid courts agreed that the words "under God" were unconstitutional. I am not affiliated with any religion and I think that is crap. If not for the sake of history. So to all our fans... I Michael Jones in my own words , speaking upon annonymity of and without provocation to RCR, DCI, DCP or any other entity which is bound by contract or otherwise to RCR... I had hoped RCR would survive this struggle. Thinking upon it more and more, (What else do you have to do when your corps is disbanded) I find myself wanting RCR to be dissolved. Too much crap has been thrown about to make this viable. I will not go into any more detail until final judgements have been made by a court, or other legal panel. The only thing good about RCR is that we went out on top. (ok, ok it isn't until you go head to head with all other corps) But hell; I am saying here and now, I think RCR would have won DCA A class 2006 and 2007 at least. If it wasn't for our management we would have had the opportunity to prove it on the field. So for now all I can say is Go Dream! Go Renegades! Kick some tail at DCA and prove how good we are out here in CA!
  6. Oh yeah I met Doug. He was with us for a while. I believe that Dan the percussion caption head had said he had to leave for health issues.
  7. WCS was pretty good, Free had some weird chords towards the end especially... lol I am really anticipating seeing tape from Modesto.
  8. We can play on anything.. Remember the 2 valve horns? We kicked out a #### good show then.
  9. This is what I love about drum corps. When the chips are down you get support from all over. It sucked to hear the news, but we all knew what was coming. Unless you were hiding under a rock at the few rehearsals we had this year. Last year's show and getting the book for this year was a huge lift. Now we had our best show with what was left this year and had to pull the plug. Feeling sad is just the tip of emotions right now. I am too invested with RCR to find a new home to play. I too hope that there is a way to get back on the field. I will be helping all I can. I will be the first to go out to purchase my own horn. I just love playing with this group. Doesnt look good for '07 though. I say it's ok, take a break for a bit, get organized and then think about forming on the field again. We know how to get a hold of each other. There is a huge need for a drum corps in the Sac. area. It will return one way or another.
  10. Hey a baritone fan, nice... Thanks. I must say having a good horn instructor makes a huge difference. I sound much different thanks to the help of one George Miles. You can get more info on George from our website (rcrdbc.org) But those that know him know what I am talking about. I never marched a single step in Drum Corps when I started with RCR in 2004. Now I am feeling like I belong out there. Dream you sound good as a group. I don't know what it is, maybe instruction; maybe just traveling; but it seems like it could be a bit fuller at parts of the show. I didn't feel like I was hearing all the brass. Well maybe its just from being in RCR where everyone has to play out more. The current ending is a bit odd also. It just doesnt fit to me. A nice exit and walk away, it seems to be leading somewhere though... It's a weird stop for sure. Something more to grab the attention of the judges I hope is what is being put togather for the closer. The drill is pretty nice at the start, I like the contra line being featured a bit. That was good. Heck I am starting to write a review here... lol. It will be a great show with a few more tweaks and getting the closer done. Some nice spots in there. I hit about everything I could at the Modesto show. My best performance by far not just this year, but maybe in the 4 years I have been with RCR. We were definitley on our game. Thing is we were just getting started... I am sure it would have been even better by the time we hit Modesto #2. Yeah I would like to hear the ending of the show as well. It's great that we have corps to compete against. It's always what we talk about, how we stack up to Dream. Well, aside from trying to catch the renegades. lol. You can dream can't you. We just need a whole lot more rehearsal time. It can be done though. Your turn Dream... I like the Renegades and wish them well at DCA also. The show is pretty cool in design and catchy tunes as always. I love the arrangement of the ballad. Good stuff.
  11. Thanks PhantomPhan... RCR is officially inactive for the remainder of the Season due to well..... No more rumors. Time to restructure. We kicked it up a notch in Modesto. I know we are more than one sop soloist... I play a few of those solos on bari... lol Who knows what would have happened had we had the 2 months to put our closer on the field. We were getting on that RCR momentum train. Music was gelling more, drill was starting to look good. Man a dissapointment sure, but ending a season on a high note was great.
  12. Yeah, flashbacks. As you trip over the numerous holes or messed up turf, you flash your back to the crowd and try and keep from falling on your face.
  13. Love SCV musically, but the fans could use some work. The yell has got to go. To me it ruins the effect of the show on the field. Unelss the effect you are going for is upsetting the people seated around you listening to the music, watching the show. Always the few that have to go on yelling into the next phrase; it is so annoying. But, whatever I guess. This is a "youth" activity. I am also against the use of microphones on the field; and feel so so about amps. That is all. Just throwing my opinion out there to see if anyone else feels the same way that isnt a SCV hater.
  14. RCR low brass is back in the game this year. We have secured some concert Bb euphs and baris for Tuba Christmas. I just got mine ordered and delivered just in time from Yamaha. I am going for the second year here in Sacramento, CA. I played in the Denver area from '86-'93 It's always fun. Just a few more days....
