Amen, brother. I wouldn’t lie about how much the ladies loved us. When I marched Colts, all our females would do the same thing and head straight for the Scouts busses after every show. I got to be on both ends of that.

You have no idea of the battles already fought with the current leadership. None that need to be hashed out here with anonymous strangers. Suffice it to say that people have their reasons to feel the way that they do and it’s beyond “engaging with the current leadership”. That ship has sailed.

Bring some numbers to back up your claim. Give me the gender breakdowns by corps. Since you’re the one claiming that the Scouts are turning away half the population, then prove that. I think you’ll find that the numbers are more akin to 75/25 male to female.

Going coed is just shortsighted and naive. First of all, you offer 1 of only 2 unique experiences in DCI. Secondly, outside of the guard, many more males make up the membership of these corps than do females. Lastly, going back to the first point, why be one of dozens when you can be one of 2? And who is to say that that will be the difference? How many coed corps have folded over the years? Finances, not the gender of your members are the key to a successful organization.

Until we, as alumni, band together to rescue the corps from this inept leadership, the Madison Scouts (as we know them) will cease to exist. It is up to us to kick these dead beat asshats like CK and DP out of their positions.

I’m unfortunately well familiar with their financial situation. This corps is insolvent and the board is completely incompetent.

3 points behind Crossmen? lol Congrats, boys. Nothing to worry about. I mean, since Crossmen won DCI a couple of years ago, things are clearly on the right track. From what I hear, the instructional staff is doing a fantastic job. Too bad the creative staff and the admin have their head so far up their collective ##### that they thought this show was a good idea. 3 points behind Crossmen. As an alum, I’d have serious reservations about letting my own kid be a part of this organization under the current admin. And that is coming from someone who idolized the Scouts before becoming a member, myself. People can point fingers at former admins going all the way back to Scott Stewart all that they want, but I know that Scott always ran this corps in the black. The current admin seems to consider operating in the red to be financially solvent. I’d like to see the current books because maybe that’s changed. I doubt it, but maybe someone performed a miracle.

The Madison Scouts were days away from folding very, very recently. Anyone who is backing this admin, you need to take a long, hard look at the books. The Madison Scouts were a whisker’s length away from completely shutting down. For good. This corps has been run into the ground by CK and DP. It’s bad. Much worse than anyone on here knows.

This was the quote referring to changing the name, which I would agree with: ”Retire the Madison Scouts to history since the corps really belongs to a different era of drum and bugle corps, which sadly no longer exists.” Had nothing to do with the Boy Scouts. Again, try and keep up.

I’m waiting for a corps to do something REALLY edgy to turn the system on its head....like, play sustained segments of melodic music. I don’t think we’ve advanced that far yet, unfortunately.
