I don't disagree that members from 25 corps showed up; however, let's take a look at how that breaks down before we complete write-off what I was getting at:

    The "attending" corps / members:

    • Blue Devils
    • Oregon Crusaders
    • Spartans
    • Legends
    • Blue Devils B
    • Colts
    • Seattle Cascades
    • Raiders
    • Pacific Crest
    • Santa Clara Vanguard
    • River City Rhythm
    • Spirit of Atlanta  (possible - but doubtful they'll jump Crossmen)
    • Music City
    • Pioneer
    • Golden Empire
    • Gold
    • Golden Empire
    • Louisiana Stars
    • Troopers
    • Shadow
    • The Diplomats
    • Mandarins
    • Impulse
    • 7th Regiment
    • Jubal

Okay, so I've put the corps in bold, who are still working towards finals' placement (Spirit isn't in bold, but they're in there too... if Crossmen crash & burn). So out of 25 corps, only 3ish are still working towards a finals' placement. Now, let me stop you before you say, "Well that's not fair Blue Devils B is technically working towards a Finals' placement still !!!" Yeah. So are Seattle Cascades & Pioneer, smh. You know what I mean!

Now, currently 24 World Class are recognized by DCI and 22 Open Class are recognized by DCI, and 1 International Corps, which is 47 total corps, and we only saw a turn-out of 25 corps. Which calculates to 53% of the active corps showing up. If we were in grade school, that's a real solid F.

So, returning to the original point of this post: do we retire I&E, and if not, how do we get that "F" to more like a "B" or "A"??? How is it only 3 of the top 12 World Class are attending --- and technically 1 of those 3 are the hosts for the event. So 2 of the top 12? Yikes.

    Hopefully this makes better sense....

I don’t take it the hard way but so what. That’s a BIG list of corps. You specifically pointed out the better ones. This is an individual showcase that I think it’s really good to showcase that. If you follow BD it’s not just about winning it’s also about teaching.

Boston doesn’t look like Boston and yet no one is complaining. Why? Because the design of the show is good and placing well. Winning fixes all problems

Yeah....I agree. But Madison's look this year looks cheap. Last year's didn't really bother me but this year it's just to bright in color. Like Skittles candy.

I honestly think this year’s show concept was a good modern idea. Now, design wise it could have been better sure. So many people said the show was a beautiful show. Maybe they could build on something dealing more with love and unity in a modern way in the future.

For one thing the "costumes" or uniforms really are just not Madison Scouts. They look like a Disneyland High School musical group. I really think you can be update but have your look and know that this is the Madison Scouts. When I first saw them unless they were announced they were MS I would have never known that.

Here's the video.  Sexism starts around 6:50

Thanks for the video. It's kinda interesting how she right away was not happy what he said and he right away tried to dig a hole out he created. She tapped her pen and made a comment about how sexism has nothing to with how a corp performs. She right away was trying to do damage control with some humor.

Alumni and fans pulled through with donations within hours of the announcement. They ordered their replacement and had a volunteer drive it from Indiana to where they’re staying in NY yesterday. So they should be good to go tonight.

Probably have insurance on most electrical stuff.

If only DCI would actually move west.  Rainouts don’t happen in California in the summer.

West coast is the best coast.

I agree. We now have huge modern stadiums to fill shows. Levi stadium. Seattle area and the new stadium LA is building for the Rams. No reason not to tour the west in a few years. Change the boring tours they do. No more hot Texas tours right in the middle of a heatwave. Today the high in LA is low to mid eighties, no rain. In the Bay Area it’s 72 in SF and 82 in Silicon Valley.

I hope this brings discussion of a one day event... If some corps get rained out they all should or find a dome for this regional.  We moved finals and almost every regional to a dome so this doesnt happen.

It’s a discussion but it won’t change. To me it’s the electronics that are now being considered. It does not seem that rainy but when dealing with plugged in things it’s dangerous.
