  1. I have a theory about that, I call it the "Curse of the Yamaha", a bite off the "curse of Bambino", just like the Red Sox were cursed with not winning a championship until 04 and Yankees winning 26 of them, I believe BD suffers that same fate. At the same time, look how successful the Cadets were once they used Yamaha starting in 01. Talk about an F-U from the Yamaha Drum gods to BD, Sure they went on a dry spell from 87-93, but 98-present...Just something to think about.
  2. Post topic on DCI Perc Dominance, Click Here.
  3. *****Added Revised Version. The 2008 edition. Click Here***** So, after putting together the DCI Dominance Chart, I thought I do the same for DCI Percussion sections. Here goes. Check it out, if your interested in tweaking my spreadsheet, let me know and I'll email you the excel spreadsheet I created, perhaps you can post your result. Also, I did one for Yamaha endorsed drumlines. Check out the result of my findings.
  4. I'll work on a Percussion Caption chart.
  5. After Cavies winning DCI this year, clearly we're in the midst of the Cavaliers dynasty. They have won 5 titles in the last 7 seasons. So, I wanted to examine past Corps that dominated over period of seasons and I put together a chart of Drum Corps Dynasties in DCI history. I made my own accessments on what would be considered a dynasty. And perhaps I'm misusing the word, but for sake of this post, I wanted to use this chart as a way to compare past Corps dominance with the Cavies current dynasty. Being a west coast :P homer, I thought I start out with California Corps, interesting result. Check it out, if your interested in tweaking my spreadsheet, let me know and I'll email you the excel spreadsheet I created, perhaps you can post your result.
  6. Great point...Interesting that it usually happens year after a championship. Same can be said of SCV in 90, Phantom in 97, etc
  7. NOOOO. Simply put, Star's show was well executed. Cadet's 06 show was not. Even Steve Rondinaro commented on the DCI Telecast back in 93 that even though people didn't like the show, Star was performing the show extremely well. They won High Brass and Percussion. So from a technical standpoint, Star had that going for them, I can't say the same for the 06 Cadets. Also adding to the lure of Star 93 is the fact that the lost by .1 of point and the left the activity. It's basically the Jimi Hendrix syndrome . (Rise to greatness in a short time, added by absence) I also think that Cadets 06 show will single handily end the trend of using vocals on the field. I can see where you (Person posing the question) are coming in the sense that the Cadets show was abstract. Let's not assume just because something is abstract that all of sudden it's deemed "ahead of it's time" and will praised down the line. I made that mistake before. Still a good question to ask. :-)
