  1. It breaks my heart when someone isn't able to come to finals, but maybe someone here wants to go. 2 seats. I honestly don't know what yard line they would end up being on. Section 17, Row 66, Seats 109 and 110. $80 each I can meet you in Pasadena, or i can send them for $15 overnight. Please contact me at cwillpayne@hotmail.com or for those who want a ticket now, call at 801-592-9592
  2. How about this year when the Cadets say "this time, lets try it with no voice" during their blue shades act, everyone yell something back...... like a big fat "EUREKA!!!!"
  3. Does anyone know if there are is a train or a bus that goes to the stadium? We are staying about 12 miles away on Olympic Blvd in LA. If anyone has some pointers, please share.
  4. I am thinking that it is Cascades. They were recorded at Weber last year when they stopped there to reheare. Phantom was also recorded in 2005 when staying there to rehearse.
  5. Ya, what he said...that is what i was getting at. Well, since we are on the topic of controversy--who was "more controversial"? (i quote that as if i am losing sleep over it) Crown 2004 or Cadets 2007 I was thinking, no one really cares about the 528,600 minutes of anything or how to be "BEATiffic" anymore. They look at it and think--"that hornline was #####in"....And in all honesty I think that this years Cadets show will be the same. Screw Controversy. If the show is good, we will hype it. If it sucks, we won't. Everyone will give the 2007 Cadets (just like I did last year at finals) their due respect because they are honestly the best drum corps this year. No questions asked. They play better and louder, march better and faster and WORK HARDER than anyone in the game today (though i haven't paid much attention tot he guard). People are going to pop in the DVD in two years and think "####, i shouldn't have sat on my hands during finals" But I could be wrong, and i hope i am. I hope that somehow, the crowd goes absolutely ape-#### at finals. Those kids deserve it. HOWEVER, my personal opinion: The narration is like having someone spit in your gourmet meal....... like having a dog take a big duke on your perfectly manicured lawn............like having someone vomit on your brand new white carpet....like hearing your single mom has finally found someone to love, but it turns out to be your best friend so it is really really gross.......you know......
  6. I wasn't a big fan of this show when i saw it at a memorial day performance and even on the Atlanta webcast...... then i saw it in denver. Then in Ogden 2 nights later. TOTALLY changed my view. They have the power. They have the talent. And the program really shows off all of the skills within the corps. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Whether they pass anyone to take 7th, 6th, 10th or whatever, it is a show worth standing up for. i dig it.
  7. I skipped to the end of the thread to add this--- BUT I really get sick of people comparing the Cadets (every year for the last three years) to Star 93. Were they controversial? yes. Did they make people think? Absolutely. Are the Cadets controversial? Yes. Did they make people think? Nope. they do it for you. THAT is what makes the narration such a sad story to me. My 71 year old father sat in his chair at the Ogden show and said to me "they are taking the beauty out of the music by trying to explain it to me" Controversial? sure. Like Star? hell no. everyone loved star. no one looks back and says, "boy that 2006 Cadets show has really grown on me......"
  8. I think that if they would hae went on third instead of 1st, they would have been ahead of Cascades---but overall, the show was killer. The rowd really wanted to give it to them to, and they did. The sunburst was not perfect, but it still radiated pure magic. Great show for the Troop. I am pumped to see them in Utah tomorrow night!!!
  9. was the featured dancer wearing a bikini top? look at slide 6 http://www.azcentral.com/php-bin/commphoto...des=12&go=1
  10. I didnt read much farther in the thread, but apparently DCI would have the right to remove someone from the stadium should they find their "speech" offensive. Since the property is leased out to dci, they can control what things are being communicated within. We had an example of this at a recent MLS soccer game vs. China here in Utah..... http://www.danwei.org/sports/protest_at_re...t_lake_vs_c.php
  11. And I am also not poking fun.... but my heart aches for those incredibly talented performers that are having their show ###### upon by a dictator who contradicts his own principles.
  12. "So what do you think of that 32 count set here? If you play it well, we will throw in a little gift--this hand made replica of the door." "Oooh I want that."
  13. I think it is going to have to be another one that i enjoy in person and on the finals dvd....but it really didn't work for me....yet
  14. If the Bluecoats win, you will volunteer on their cook truck for the rest of the summer. And i will call them and make a donation.
  15. How about a belt/sash thing similar to the Cadets, that comes down across the chest? but it has the US buckle on it........ just a thought...........
  16. Hearing the Troopers Hornline this last weekend play "Battle Hymn Chorale"......and they were only with 46 of their horns so far......the rest should be there by now...... then watching the Blue Knights do a run through of their music....they have a helluva trumpet line--and you will notice them in the closer-- all in all--memorial day gives me chills because it makes me realize that so many peoples lives are about to change in the next 3 months.....
  17. is the link for the interview still on here?
  18. LOL. "crisp power of a clarinet"..... Visually speakin, woodwinds are not what you want in a drum corps. i really don't know what i would do if they were allowed. Probably become interested in an activity that everyone else is into....like alcoholism......
  19. There is nothing that looks more powerful than a saxaphone section with their horms to the box......and their neckstraps....... it isn't drum corps. I can handle amps. I can handle Alice in Wonderland. No to the saxophones. Push the creative envelope? We aren't even near exhaustion of what we currently have.
  20. I heard this guy is the narration coach for the Cadets this year.... "tell you what, looks like you just eat it up!! You just eat it up!! UGHM!!!!!!"
