  1. Thought I would go ahead and post this. Heard from a friend who said the Corpsvets came in 7th. I believe the Empire Statesmen were 1st. I was really hoping the Corpsvets would place higher than that. It seems their marching just hasn't come together this season as it should have by now. Also their soloists didn't have the best night tonight. Wish I could have been there myself. Even with the low scores everytime I see them I get chill bumps. Hope things improve by Scranton. Good luck guys. B) B)
  2. Would like to hear from anyone about tonight's show in Kingston. Especially wanting to hear about the Corpsvets, Caballeros and Empire Statesmen. CORPSVETS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. CorpsVets Your show was great and is improving everytime I see you perform it. I could see it has changed a little and the ending is different. I know everyone has different tastes about things but I did enjoy the tag and the end. Your sop. soloist is kicking some a#@. Mellophone solo could use some work. Is still a little dirty. Baritone solo is awesome. Sorry to say that J'Ville will be the last time I get to see you guys. I have been to all of them except NC and can sincerely say you have improved greatly. Guys keep up the hard work and I know you will be rewarded for it. I will be looking for those great reviews here on DCP for your next show in NJ. CORPSVETS ROCK!!!!! B) B) SCV- OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!! Totally blown away by this show. Their drill is clean and the music is outstanding. Great work guys. Man you are right on the heels of the BD and my prediction is you will surpass them. Love your uniforms. Madison- You guys were there to put on a show and that you did. What a totally awesome way to end a show. I have been let down by some of the endings of other corps. But not from you guys. You've got it goin on right until the end. Your look is great and the drill was very exciting. I can't wait to see what the rest of the reason brings you guys if you continue on like you did in J'Ville. Spirit- The show in Atlanta was far superior in my opinion to last nights show. I was greatly disappointed in J'Ville. However, when you performed the stand still I was totally blown away. Guys!!! What's up. Why can't you play like that in competition. Just my .02 Court of Honor- I have seen many of your shows. You have a good sound. I am totally lost though on the words being spoken. I knew what you were saying last night in parts of it only because I was in the blast zone of the stadium.(down low). Good use of the platforms. Guard needs a little work though. Good luck the rest of the season. You guys are off to a great start. Colts- Was really impressed by your sound. Wasn't quite sure what to expect but I was not let down in the least. Good luck. Blue Knights- I really enjoyed your show. A lot. Loved the music and your drill was impressive. The uniforms seem a bit dark to me for the field. Hope you have continued success for the rest of the season. BD- Have seen your show a few times and have been impressed by it. The ending is a let down for all the great work that is done during the rest of it. Your drill is clean. Sound is awesome. Horns are totally together. The music selection really makes you want to get up and move. Thanks for a great show.
  4. I am just not feeling the love here. Basically, I agree that while you may not support something a corps is doing, like using amps, it should not be yelled at the performers. As if they can control the matter. Start a petition, boycott shows, call DCI anything but disrupt a show. Yelling at these kids is an extremely improper behavior. What does yelling "turn off the amps" accomplish? Nothing!!!!!!!!! Absolutely nothing. About yelling "Go Rebecca" or whatever the name would be is in my opinion something entirely different. I am there not only to watch the corps but to well let's just say that some people call it...hmmm.... SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These people have worked hard on their show and it behooves me to let them know. Yes, I also stand, clap and yell for them as well. Now for what I originally signed on for. The corps in B'ham played really well. You know playing in that kind of heat has to be hard. Even the corps from around here who are used to this type of heat can find it difficult at best. Court of Honor had a good show. There were a few rough spots but overall were very good. I heard them in Kennesaw and their standstill was great. Marching puts its own demands on good playing. Guys keep up the good work for this small but competitive corps. Capital Regiment was sharp. I was happily suprised by their show. Glassmen were really classy. Guard in the beginning was holding my attention but then somewhere during the show lost it. They have a good sound and I know as the season pushes forward so will they. This is was the first time for me to see Spirit in competition. While not impressed much by the music I was by their drill. Extremely visual. Guard is great. Hated for the contra who found the grass and also for the corps to have to march around the shako until a judge decided it needed to be moved. Boston Crusaders marched clean and enjoyed the music. I was not however impressed with the end of their show. I just knew their was going to be something else to end with but alas, not. Blue Devils.....really enjoyed their music selection. Summertime and Boogie Woogie were hyping me up. Sound effects for the train were great. Like B.C. though I was unimpressed with the ending of their show. Just ending up in the endzone was not a way to end an astounding show. I know the CorpsVets were first but I have saved them for last in my review. You know for these guys, who by the way work for a living, to have had their first competition last Saturday and then leave out for N.C. on Sunday, compete that very day, head back home for some sleep, albeit not much, and then come back to Spain Park for exhibition on Tues. has to be exhausting. I admire these people who love drum corps so much that they want to continue on and share it with the fans. If it weren't for these advanced corps people who never had the opportunity to be in a junior corp the experience would be lost forever for them. CorpsVets your uniforms rock. Miss seeing the gauntlets though. I know since you guys were so tired from your recent travels and that friggin heat had to be hard to play through I thought you were great. DCI scoring is tough. I do not agree with that score though. It should have been much higher. Having seen this corps perform before Tues., I knew what to expect. Johnny One Note starts the event off with excitement. Slowing things down a bit with Naima to get you ready for Big Noise. I was with you guys until this selection. Contras were sluggish as they have been. Hope contras and percussion improve before Jacksonville. Also, the drill could be cleaner. I am always sad when you guys don't play Georgia. Your sop. soloist does a great job and the way you guys hold that last note very impressive. Sends chills everytime I hear it. Maybe you will think about adding that in. Jazz is your heritage and Georgia embodies that. When A Man Loves a Woman rounds out the night. The solo player needs more control. Sounds a bit shaky. Remember I am not doggin' you guys. I do believe in constructive criticism and I know you guys will take it to heart. Can't wait to see you in J'Ville and hope you will have had some time to rest since Tues. Good Luck!!!! I know the more shows you march gives you the chance to polish up things. See ya Sunday. B)

  6. Would like to hear some reviews of this show. Wasn't able to make the trip to NC. Noticed MCL was missing from tonight's line-up. Their sound was impressive in Rockmart. Anyone who attended the show in NC would like to hear your take on the corps and their score.
  7. Would like to hear how the CorpsVets did tonight? Does anyone have the scores? :sshh:
  8. ROCKIN' IN ROCKMART!!!! WOW!!! DCA is great and the corps last night prove it. The smaller corps I felt for their size did an outstanding job. Like "Z clan" said no where to hide and no time for a breather. Will be looking forward to hearing these smaller corps as they continue growing and taking on even more ambitious musical selections. What can I say about the CorpVets that hasn't been said. They are awesome and started out their first night of competition with a bang. "Johnny One Note" started the night off with a huge bang from the CorpVets and an immense explosion of excitment from the crowd. Transitioning into Naima, a very smooth break, before the ever excitedly jubilant "Big Noise from Winnetka" brought down the house and then bringing it home with a delightful and soulful rendition of "When a Man Love a Woman". True to their jazz heritage, this corps keeps you entertained from the time they enter the field until their exit off. I wish you continued success throughout the rest of the season. CORPSVETS ROCK!!!!!!!
