Geez Louise! We met several TBT folks in Daytona this weekend. They were nice enough to come to the SD table and introduce themselves. Plus I got to yak at Dave Hobbs for a while. TBT...classy folks there. The table at FFCC was a lot of fun! We got to meet MANY new people and reconnected with some of our vets. It looks like, right now, the move to Orlando is the right move for the corps. We will still have some camps at Webber International University over the course of the summer. The location and amenities are too good to pass up. On a personal note - THANK YOU for the personal votes of confidence. It is people like you that keep me inspired to continue to do this thing we call drum and bugle corps

We will have a recruitment table at FFCC Championships (Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit) this Saturday in Daytona Beach. If you are in Daytona Beach this weekend, stop by our table and enjoy the indoor guard and percussion show too! Okay everyone - we are geared up for our last February camp! Just so everyone is clear for this weekend: Saturday: BRASS ONLY - 10:00am - dark Sunday: BRASS, FULL PERCUSSION - 9:00am - 5pm NO GUARD THIS WEEKEND Thanks to our Asst. Executive Director, Dave Blackmon, rehearsal will be held at Warner University. Warner Univ. is North of Frostproof on Highway 27. Lunch will be on campus both days. Please meet at Frostproof High School first! We'll load the truck and head on over to the University. We still have brass, guard, and front ensemble openings. Field percussion is getting there, but can always use some more hot chops!

Hey everyone - have some bad/good news. Bad news: We were asked to move camp to Jan 21/22. Good news: we will now have a joint camp with Riptide Indoor Percussion Ensemble on Jan 21/22! Riptide is an affiliate group of the Sun Devils and will PREMIER their show at the end of camp. Make sure to sign up on the website to receive updates as well as Facebook and Twitter. LOL! Well I did announce our show concept and opener to all who attended. The opener was passed out to the brass and percussion. I can release that our 2012 show will be a Spanish themed show. I do have a lot of information to get out to the masses. I just need some time to write and write and write some more. That'll do

Day before open house BUMP! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! Couple of new things if you have not been informed yet... We are GIVING AWAY two (2) Disney park hopper passes to one (1) lucky open house participant! The drawing will be held at the end of open house. The management team and staff are looking forward to getting the season started. The staff and the show will be announced in a separate release after open house. Even if you are here on vacation, please DO NOT hesitate to stop by. We like visitors!

*****OPEN HOUSE UPDATE***** As you may know, our open house will be one month from today on December 3, 2012 from 10:00am-4:00pm. Coincidentally, December 3rd is also the Frostproof Christmas parade! We have been invited to perform in the parade with the Frostproof Middle-Senior High School Band. The parade steps off at 6:30pm. If you are up for an entire day of December drum corps in Florida, we invite you to stay after the open house and perform with Frostproof. This is by no means mandatory. We hope you come out and have some fun!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! We still have much to do and more deals to work out. But after spending a Saturday in Frostproof, the future looks promising. New announcements coming Wednesday.

*****OFFICIAL SUN DEVILS DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS PRESS RELEASE****** October 24, 2011 After one season off, the Sun Devils Drum and Bugle Corps plan to return the field is now in full swing. I am proud to announce our Open House on December 3rd, 2011 at FrostProof High School in FrostProof, FL! Open House will be held from 10am - 4pm. Feel free to bring your mouth piece, sticks, mallets, and guard gear. Come be a part of the Sun Devils resurgence! One item of note is that the corps is NOT moving to Gainseville, FL. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to redirect our efforts from Gainesville to other Florida locales. Fortunately we were offered an opportunity to host the corps at FrostProof High School. After touring the facilities last Friday, we are quite excited about getting the 2012 season underway. Make sure to follow the corps on Twitter and friend us on Facebook. Congratulations and a BIG THANK YOU goes out to the Tampa Bay Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps from the Sun Devils! TBT put on the first DCA show in Florida since 2005 and did it quite well. I was quite impressed with the entire operation from the moment we arrived. We were greeted by Jimmy and crew and were told where to go and also worked through some show logistics. Folks, believe me when I say this...the Land O'Lakes High School stadium was PACKED from end to end. It gave me hope that there will always be drum corps in Florida. From the BBQ stand to the Chick-fil-A tent, all attendees and performers had plenty to eat and drink. On top of that, you have the voice of Bands of America (BOA) doing the announcements! Which for me was quite awesome since I heard his voice many times when I attended Marian Catholic. I would like to personally thank the entire Tampa Bay Thunder organization for allowing the Sun Devils the honor of playing our National Anthem. It meant a lot to the kids to put on our uniform this season. Best of luck to you for the rest of the season!

*****OFFICIAL SUN DEVILS DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS PRESS RELEASE***** 7/7/2011 On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, I am happy to announce that the Sun Devils Drum and Bugle Corps will be moving its entire base of operations to the Gainesville area. A key item of the Sun Devils 2012 plan was to relocate the corps’ operational base. After a great deal of demographical research, the Gainesville area became the obvious front-runner. Some quick facts about Gainesville: Location: Located in North Central Florida on the I-75 corridor halfway between Atlanta and Miami Median Age: 27 Climate: Average of 2,800 hours of sunshine annually January average high temperature: 65 F June average high temperature: 89 F Average rainfall is 35 inches per year. The area basks in Gulf breezes that make summer days warm and nights cool, and produce dry and mild winters. Cities: (within a 2-hour drive) Jacksonville, Ocala, Lake City, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa, St. Augustine, Cedar Key, Live Oak Notable Firsts: Gatorade (first sports drink) Home of: The University of Florida and Santa Fe Community College We are currently working with local leaders and music educators to finalize the exact rehearsal location. A member of the local Gainesville community has donated a large storage facility to the corps. By the end of the month, all of the corps’ equipment will be relocated to Gainesville. We are excited to move on to the next chapter on our journey back to the field!
