  1. Sal....No hell no and no again. I would point a finger at myself before I would ever point one at Sal. I knew how bad it was and I did not raise my voice loud enough to the Alumni so maybe we could of stopped the bleeding. I am so sorry I did not do that. I do think about the what ifs more then I should. Again, from the bottom of my heart and soul I am so sorry. Pointing fingers and placing blame does no good today. The Glassmen Family must heal and come together under the GAA so that we can move forward as one. I will no longer play the blame game. In no way shape or form do I talk for the GAA. My views and ideas are mine alone. This is the second time that the Glassmen have folded do to money issues. The Alumni stepped up to the plate bitd. The Alumni can do the same today under the GAA. Do to the high cost of start up and maintaining a DCI World or Open class Corp putting the Glassmen back on the field under DCI is not an option at this point in time. I do feel that there are options that the GAA could fund, maintain, and sustain long term. Our history can be traced all the way back to the Maumee Demons. Who by the way were a good all age Corps. I feel that the GAA should explore the DCA community. Where we could start a "weekend Corps" where one can feel free to go to whatever show they choose. Or just do weekend shows. Another option would be DCA mini Corps. Have you seen the list of Corps who will be competing this year? it would b an honor to have the Glassmen name announced along with those other great names in Drum Corps history. Another option would be sound sport and or drum battle. There is one more option. The GAA could choose and do nothing and just be a name.
  2. I tried to raise the red flag about this awhile back. However, I was slammed by alum, bod members and the forum police who try to shout down people on what can and can not be said on these boards. (not the mods.) IMHO the BOD was indeed a rubber stamp for Brian and he had complete control of the BOD. 1 1/2 years before our 50th I received 2 phone calls, one from an ex board and one from (at the time) current board member telling me how dire the Glassmen finances were. I asked if the Glassmen were going to field a Corps for our 50th? I was told that by all rights they should not be fielding a Corps that year let alone our 50th. I was also told, do you really think Brian would let the Corps fold on our 50th under his watch?
  3. Hello all, I have not posted on here in a long time... And after reading every post in this thread I am reminded why I have not not posted in a long time...If one is not violating any DCP guidelines one can say what they want in this open forum...Enough of the Glassmen Police who just because one disagrees with you,one try's and shout them up..How dare you...Kickbrass you claim you can get 100 alumni to agree with you...Really, I wish you could then we could have an alumni association..Wait a minute we do not have one because we can not get that many alumni involved ask yourself kickbrass why is that? And then you go on and say, well you only marched one year so your voice is not as loud as one marching more then one year. REALLY, so all the rook outs voice mean nothing....How about those who marched in 75 and could not march the next year because the Glassmen went to sleep for a handful of years? One has to be kidding themselves if our 50th year show was a tribute to the ones who made the Glassmen who they are today...I will speak for the vast majority of the Alumni when I say placement means nothing....But our 50th year show, proved my point in how the Glassmen org, views the alumni...Ask yourself why is there not more alumni involvement? And I do indeed hope my words p%^s some alumni off so they will get involved...All I am saying is find the root cause in why the Alumni is not more involved and then fix it....I do however know the root cause......
  4. in the mood, this is herb gatwood. drop me a note and let me know who you are.

  5. The only advice that I have ever given to the Glassmen was reconnect with their Alumni so you are indeed right, they do not want to heed my advice.....The only other thing that I have given them was lots money and my time..Have you done the same? DrillmanSop06 it is clear that you only like to talk down to people and have nothing valid to offer to the conversion...You are just a troll that does not know what you are talking about......
  6. No threat at all..... Just stating fact.....No one barred me I left the group because I got tired arguing over our history when all they had was "I was there so I know what I am talking about" what they forgot was they were only marching members and I had the paperwork and fact to back up what I was saying...... Once I proved that, nothing else was said.....The Alumni who may have talked bad about me better have their facts straight....And it is clear they do not....As you better choose your words wisely....Because I have the facts and all you have is hear say.....From this day forward be very, very careful if you or others want to attack me....And if DCP does not stop these unfounded personal attacks which goes against their policy's they may find themselves liable also......
  7. You need to b very careful in what you say you have come very close in crossing the line..... slanders; slandered; slander·ing [+ obj] : to make a false spoken statement that causes people to have a bad opinion of someone
  8. #### brother I find myself in agreement with you lol lol.....IMHO if Glassmen Alumni were on staff in a high position our 50th ann. show would have been different.....Everyone seen how much money Corps have made do to their Ann. from their Alum... and how much respect they showed to their past...Cavs, Cadets, and the Scouts come to mind....That did not happen with the Glassmen with their 50th ann show....I blame Sal and Brian for this disrespect to our history.....Not even a nod to our past and it showed in the donations from the Alumni.....Mr Poulan is a good addition to the Glassmen...However he is not an Alum...What connection does he have with the Glassmen Family? There is so much untapped talent within the Glassmen Family it is unreal....I agree one tends to surround themselves with yes men....And in the Glassmen case that has failed....
  9. What I can tell you is the fact that I have lost count on how many Alum head band depts. over the US....I agree techs are under rated....However I have not heard of a tech that moved up in the Glassmen Org....If there is a Glassmen Alum tech that has moved up in the ranks in the Glassmen Please let me know....
  10. indeed there were past members as techs....But lets get real...they were techs only....As far as Alum from the past on staff...When was that? By the way Guardling I do indeed like to talk to you....We may not see eye to eye on some issues....I do respect you....
  11. I agree with you 100%......Our Activity will never find the next Zingali ect. unless they r given a chance....Someone had to take a chance on him and others.....I agree Mr. Paulan is a good addition to the Glassmen....However he is just one piece of the puzzle....It is unfair to put all this pressure on his shoulders to right the ship....The only way an instructor will have a vested interest in the Glassmen is if they are Alumni...What is so wrong in giving an Glassmen Alum a chance? I am so over the fact that Brian has not made an honest attempt in hiring Glassmen Alumni.....I do not know the answer to this question,so if one does please let me know.....How many Glassmen Alumni are on staff as of today?
  12. My brother and I had no choice....Our Mom made us join to get us off the street...I was 13 my brother was 12....
  13. Mike, why not team up with the AL once again....For example their national convention was held in Minn....this year...why could not DCI and the AL get together and hold DCI Finals at their convention... Or convince them to hold their national convention in Indy the same time DCI holds their Finals here....Just saying......
  14. Wrtv 6 started airing promos for DCI one month before the Finals.....This has not been done before since DCI came to Indy....They even said that the were proud sponsors of DCI Finals and the Arts parade...However at no time did they mention that the $10.00 deal was for Indiana residences only... They did mention that tickets were as low as $10.00....This must have been done at the parade about the $10.00 deal for Indiana residence .....
  15. True story.......The Glassmen came in 5th place at the first Class A DCI Finals in 1975....After Finals our Corps Dir. Left to go back home because he was very, very sick....He only stayed as long as he did because he wanted to see us through Finals at serious risk to his health......After he went home the rest of the staff left except one....He was a 22 year old equipment manager....He was given $500.00 to get us home from Philly to Toledo....This money was for gas only....Back in the day for the most part we had to find ways to feed ourselves......While standing in line to check out of the Motel room he over heard some staff members from SCV talking about how one of their buses broke down and how were they going to get some of the kids back to Caliy.....Without batting an eye he told them they could ride with us back home and then take them Chicago where they could catch a flight home, the offer was accepted.....So now he had the added responsibility of not only getting us home but now members from another Corps....Our yellow buses made it to home and Chicago...On the way back from Chicago our yellow school buses broke down.....Without being asked the SCV BoD sent money to help cover the cost... 75 was the first year the Glassmen had an extended tour...Up until that point we were for the most part a weekend only Corps....We took off on a 2 week tour and did not fully recover.....We were getting down the road on our placement money...BITD one was not guaranteed any money......It all depended on where the Corps finished....No matter who was at the Show..... In 1976 we tried to field a Corps but it did not work out....I found out 30 years latter one of the main reasons was financial.......93% give or take of the Corps members did not pay their dues and it was $75.00 a year, we had 110 members.....And our bingo game was getting ripped off......Soooooo, the Glassmen had no choice but to go inactive....In 79 a group of Alumni, parents, and friends of the Glassmen got together and decided to bring back the Glassmen.....The first thing they did was to get their financial house in order....Then they put out word for those who were still able to march and those who have not marched before to come back....The rest as they say is history... Maybe just maybe Revo needs to take a breath, relax and get their finical house in order for this great Corps to move forward..... If it takes a year or two so be it.....If history is any indication, once Revo comes back they will be as strong or stronger then they once were...... DRUMDAD..........You did nothing wrong in creating this thread...despite what some of the forum police would have you believe....(Forum Police-- those who have taken upon themselves to try and dictate what can and can not be posted)Trust me,If you would have the Mods would shut this thread down in a heart beat.....Thank you for not backing down even when they tried to get this thread shut down....
