MADISON SCOUTS 2016

And...is the price tag to join the Scouts too high to get more talent? Are other corps charging the same $? Just seems like the higher tier corps have a lot more money at their disposal. -

I heard someone...presumably from BC...screaming about getting in by .3. Don't know for sure...but it looks like Scouts are out. I'm here...and there is no way this should be true...IMO. Bummed -

I am surprised....mainly in that I'm not grasping how the Scouts were up on both Academy and Boston...by 2+ points just a show or two ago. So Academy improved by 3.5 in one day? Boston by 4.5? Scouts are flat? Just doesn't seem right. Scouts, IMO, have a top 12 show. Will be a shame if they don't make it. Maybe we'll get lucky and get 13 corps in finals! -

Ok Scouts....on to 2014....with a better visual package! Missed out on a top 6 finish this year because of it. Keep improving!

Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro is great! -
Actually....both endings aren't very good. Current ending is smarter and cleaner...but inadequate, IMO. Visually, I feel they need red in their color scheme. Way too bland for my taste...and have been since the uniform change in 2010. Current uni shows every flaw...otherwise, I really like the show...nice progress since 2010. Top 6 is coming soon!

Good post! I don't know if anyone has gone this direction...but in the world of business/money, my guess is that Madison is selling quite well. All good things for DCI, the Scouts, and fans who pay to watch shows, etc. I am sure the members of the Scouts would like higher placements...but I'm certain they are enjoying the crowd response way more than what scores or placements are providing.

A 3 point Blue Stars jump...and the Scouts level for three days? Not getting that. -
Couldn't agree more!

Madison Scouts 2012

Don't know if this has been addressed...or commented on...but is there any chance of the Scouts adding a red sash this year? And why the white at the end of the show? The visual scores are telling something...drill, I assume...and some technique? Color has to be some of the issue....like the uniform...just rather dull. Guard look is cool....except for the end of the show...just don't get that. I am sure there is some meaning to it...what, I don't know. Otherwise...love the show. Saw them per season in Franklin, IN...a real improvement overall....so surprised that they are placing where they are. To me they are way better than that. -

To me, that would be like not showing all of the videos, etc., from 9-11 because it's might just be hard to view....hard to grasp....as if we don't need reminders. Well....I think we do need reminders....and the Scouts did a totally appropriate program...and to think of it in a day in time....from morning until sometime after....I think the total impact of the show was very meaningful....and quite positive, for that matter. On that note....the only reason I didn't care much for....in total....for the middle part of the show....is that I think it was too long and just too bombastic and scattered. Their score represents this. Overall, a great concept....and gutsy as well. I just thought it was well done and not over the top. On to 2012! -

I would not go as far as saying 10th is a disappointment....as far as "disappointments" go. Yes, you may be disappointed....I too am disappointed...but more in the sense that I find it hard to understand that the show didn't grow in points for the last two weeks of the season....just stayed flat....even though there was a lot of cleaning. So...from a judging standpoint, I don't get it at all. Not to knock on BK...but the Scouts' show was a ton more impressive....just not as easy and clean....so that is what you get, I guess. You are correct....drill was kind of all over the place. I know there is/was a concept there....just didn't do it for me. Drums....yes, needs to be addressed....probably already has. Hopefully they get more quality applicants in future years....which I think will happen. IMO, if you are a kid looking into the Scouts....this year's show was a huge advertising hit and will certainly generate more interest. I am really looking forward to next year's program....and to see what the talent level looks like. I am already thinking top 8.....or bust! And....while I was hoping for better than 10th...this year's show was easily the best 10th place show ever! -
Drum Corps Show "FirstBeat" in Summerville, SC
walshinsurance replied to Liahona's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Glassmen fan, perhaps? You are quite incorrect about the Scouts' drill a few years ago....it may have been lousy....but not an alumni standstill. Personally, I think the Scouts name is a whole lot stronger than Glassmen...for certain. All corps work hard and deserve no crap! If the crowd feels the Scouts...or whomever...deserve a better placement...then they can boo. They paid a bit of money for the ticket...so they can state their case....good or bad....to a certain extent. I don't see anyone booing Blue Devils, for example....even though their painfully slow paced drill is no match in comparison to other top tier corps. Just an opinion....as I like the Blue Devils....but I don't think they deserve to win with that show....and if people boo a placement....so be it. It's not the kids....it's the placement.
