Blue Knights have been one of my absolute favorites for the better part of a decade, but I just don't understand what's going on with this show. It's not a commentary on the members. I've given it multiple viewings but absolutely nothing is clicking for me. There are very brief moments of creating ambience only to be completely derailed by strange musical transitions to a completely different style of music. I'm just ... confused, I guess.

You are not the only one.  The vehicle for the members is not up to the snuff of the talent of the performers. The show is dry.

The Blue Knights were boring back in '19 and last year; the only difference is where that boring was placing in the Top 12.

I disagree BK was boring in 2019.  It was a great show and they placed accurately. This year it has been difficult to get into the show. I see moments that are good , but I really do not find the show design appealing at all. If 2019 were this year, they would be doing much better score wise.

  3. I dont really feel BD's GE is better than anyone else's, in fact, sometimes I find their content boring (in the top 4/5), however they execute extremely well in all areas which does captivate you when you watch, which for me, I guess is their general effect. And certainly not that other corps do not execute well. Just seems BD is always that much better.

I rewatched inferno today and thought the same thing. No one this year has that sort of opening and no one is close to that brass sound and clarity! Maybe next year we’ll get lucky and get back to that. But this year does have some amazing parity and competition which is great. It’s like the overall activity has stepped up but there is something missing at the top.

I’m still watching drum corps. I just feel some years are better than others.

There are several moments, but there are a few moments that aren't there or where I just don't care for things.

The pendulum section of the show is the highlight of the show for me.

I'm worried that the smaller guard is going to hurt them at finals, especially with guard being worth so much of the score through caption bleed. The guard is fine, but the size is smaller than other corps around them.

I'm not crazy about the drill, but that's relative to the beast of drill they've had during the past 40 years...

Brass is great playing, but the writing seems dense to me.  Sadly, I need to process the show, and maybe it will grow on me more over time. 2019 was such a masterpiece, and this show doesn't speak to me nearly as much, so...

What I gave heard is that with almost all guards being coed, it is harder to recruit more guard members.

I really thought this show "so far" is a mess.  Add to it the volume issue and a few other things and these cavaliers are not yet up to previous iterations of the corp.  (IMO) this show needs a major overhaul to compete for a top 5 position.

    I'm kind of shocked.

My initial viewing, I felt this way. It has gotten a lot better though-. That being said,  I do feel their programming needs more  to crack the top 4, even 5 maybe right now.  I could say that about a few more corps too.

It’s clear this season a lot of the corps have placed an emphasis on points rather than connecting with the masses. While the performance level is amazing, the design is clearly pointing towards the sheets and not the overall fan experience (yes this can be argued, but seems to be a theme). The question I pose to all of you, if you had one choice and had to design a show that appealed to the judges, or to the fans, which would you choose? Is it more important to create a complicated show that performs well on the sheets, or design a show that has massive fan appeal? And yes, you can do both, but I’m not giving you that option. You have to chose one or the other.

    Ready, go!

Sometimes a corps will hit both meaning entertaning and hit the score sheets.I know there are more but quick to mind for me: Cavaliers 04, Crown 13, SCV 18, Bloo 16, Cadets 11, BD 10, 14.
