  1. Did they show the other corps live ? Cascades, Academy, BK ? I am not so sure the Cavaliers were any more rested (other than they may have gotten to the area on Omaha a little earlier). Today was their 5th show with only one day off which was the 7th. (July 5, 6, 8, 9, and today).
  2. I think you would need each corps to have a different arranger for their music. The corps at the top are easy to pick out just by listening to them. They each have a distinct musical footprint.
  3. Listening to them both I am not understanding why at this time.
  4. Until they all get together in Minneapolis---who knows. I have always felt that it is not fair/impossible to compare scores at two different shows with two different panels. At the end of the season, I tend to not remember scores- but will catch myself humming music.
  5. Funny, but completely understand where you are coming from on this. Now if they could only put tv's/monitors above the urinals....
  6. Hmmm. Really hard to decide who will win. The Cavaliers are notoriously known for a late season push and the Cadets are xtraordinary this year :-) 1. Cavaliers or Cadets 2. Cavaliers or Cadets 3. Crown 4. Blue Devils 5 Madison Scouts 6. Bluecoats 7. Phantom 8. SCV 9. Blue Knights 10.Blue Stars 11.Boston Crusaders 12. Academy
  7. I do not see them finishing any lower than 3rd- possibly higher......2002---they re-did entire portions of drill--and had they had a little longer to clean it-would have been closer to the Cavaliers score wise ( I am not sure anyone was going to beat Frameworks that year). If anyone has the ability to do great things in a short amount of time, it is BD. While there are few shows I have liked in recent years, they should never be underestimated. Even in 2005, with Yowza-Yowza they finished 4th....Sure things happen, but when was it the last time they were below 4th ? 1991 ?
  8. Which one ? The good one or the bad one ? With a score of 66.6.......
  9. It is all good. I just picture demons in red- and HORNS (not the kind you play)--give them a trident to spin. I forgot to mention the angels that looked like they have been playing in the demons fire pit--with just a little soot on them (makes me feel better since I use to have a halo and it was always crooked). Now, seriously, that aside- I can say I love the Cadets this year. I have not been able to say that in a long time. I liked portions of '05 and '07......I was not so sure when I heard the two different colored uniforms, but it really does work and I hope they visually play a little more with that. Love the drill. I even love the choral at the beginning. The ballad is sweet. Do not even get me started on the Blude Devils guard outfit- some years it kind of works and other years it is Barnum and Bailey meets the homeless lady on the streets. This is not a good costume year for them. I do, however, like their music this year.
  10. Let's see..Watched at Regal in Columbus. Let's see....Like the Devils show--ran out of steam-but I think the heat also helped that happen. Championship show ? Not so sure. Cavaliers- great show- alot of GE..will be interesting to see how this does as things progress. Drill is insane and they play well- with a great volume. Love the guard. Definitely a show to challenge in August. Bluecoats- liked the show. Alot like last year's, but still very good. Crown: Cool show. 1st half is great, they kind of lose me in the second half. If they can kick up the second half of this show- watch out- August can be owned by them. Cadets- this is the best Cadet show I have seen since '00. My only complaint- demons in pepto bismol pink and WTF with the "main angel" who is in my mom's white bathrobe ? They play well, the uniform contrast works. This show will challenge in August. Phantom- They play well, but as with most of these corps they are marching the show-but the emotion is not there yet. Left me a bit flat. SCV- like the music, like the drill- but it needs ALOT of work- both visually and musically. Blue Stars- the beginning of the show is great and then it turns into a cheesy half time band show, but then they come around at the end. SCV and Blue Stars have their work cut out to stay in the top 8 this year.
  11. Hey, Wes...I just spent some time in Colorado and was able to catch some rehearsal at Northside park and then a good three hours of ensemble at Adams City HS. If anything, this show is more difficult than last year's(thumb's up because last year's was sensational). The brass is sounding fantastic (BIG, FULL SOUND- the loudest BK line I have EVER heard)- I only saw one hole- less a few issues here and there with hearing all voices(its way early- and also still getting comfortable with drill)- but this corps is MOVING alot this year-with some great drill(they are using the whole field)- some choreography at this point. Wish I could have been higher up as there were moments I thought the staging of the percussion in front of the brass was drowning out the brass-ah -stuff to be worked out I guess. I believe that last year's show was a little tapped out as far as achievement(hence beating SCV early then fading). This year will leave alot of room as there will be plenty to clean/refine. Shepherd's Hay has a great percussion feature. Ralph Hardimon was there (he is intense/and fantastic-no wonder why he has had some great lines). I have never seen as many male colorguard members in a BK guard. Not that that will make a guard stronger, but it works as far as some of the work they do. They have much cleaning to do, but saw alot of really bright moments and will only get better. I got to see a run through at the end of the nite, only to be interrupted by the lights promptly shutting off at 10- corps into show about 5 min or so. Best line of the nite : "This needs to sound like you are coming out of an English Pub, not the gay bar."
  12. Phantom Regiment 2011 Proudly presents: LYSISTRATA with music by: Giovanni Marradi Just kidding
  13. And they would lose some very talented members..............
  14. I agree Wes......I do not think the two corps ahead of them were that far ahead (interesting how when there are less corps before you that your score keeps going down)....Their finals performance was fantastic and the cleanest all season(of course some of those performances via FN). I was able to see the guard walking to the stadium last nite and I was able to tell then how much I appreciated this year's show. I wore my Blue Knight shirt proudly last nite.
  15. And he does not already head up a marching band ? Could have fooled me.
  16. You could blind fold me and I could listen to all the corps and pick out BD's music every year.....talk about the same thing over and over....I do not find them any more innovative than any other corps. What they do, they do well though.
  17. Disagree on somethings, but drum corps is subjective. Thanks
  18. No.....but maybe in the judges and BD's fan base eyes................
  19. Well, if they are real mirrors, I certainly hope they do not break any before finals.
