  1. Pretty much everything has been covered but if you are put on antibiotics for your Rosacea, you can't go in the sun. I was on an antibiotic that made my skin burn just driving in my car, so be so so careful with that. And even though I tan in the summer, I still wear t-shirts to stay cool from time to time... Another thing I think someone made mention of it, but I'll reiterate-- you MUST wear sunscreen when it is overcast. Even though it is cloudy, you are still getting the UV penetration and that's what causes the sunburn. I'm not sure if you said what sunscreen you use, but I have found that Coppertone Sport works the best. I have used it for the last 3 summers and while I may not be the tannest kid on the field, the only sunburns I have gotten have been from being at the beach when I'm at home. It is pretty sweatproof so long as you apply liberally and often. One last thing... You said your cheeks burn, which leads me to believe you don't wear a hat? We are required to, but if not, you should... and if you do, try wearing a bandana folded in half covering from your cheeks down-- obviously not practical for music blocks, but keeps the sun off your face during visual at least. Hopefully you find something that works, just be safe, the sun is pretty lethal to us pale kin.
  2. You are just saying that because you have never done a beer funnel.
  3. No, I know what you are talking about, it's in the book "Amber Brown is not a Crayon." I read it years ago.
  4. I would say that my free days were spent curled up sipping a nice bottle of whiskey, and indulging in great literary classics like "Uncle Tom's Cabin."
  5. UHHHH.... Hawaii is 9-0 why shouldn't they be up top? Oh that's right ZERO STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE. If Kansas' out of conference games involved any team in the SEC they would a) not be undefeated and b.) would plummet with a single loss, just like OSU did. I garuntee they would lose to most any SEC team in a bowl game. LSU should by far be #1 because of their schedule. All these Big 10 and Northern teams are totally overrated. LONG LIVE THE SEC!!!! GO GATORS! Oh yeah, irrelevant post... kind of.
  6. There haven't been music selections announced. Spartacus could very well just be the theme-- like the 06 approach to faust-- kind of a juxtaposition of pieces fitting of the storyline. Uhm, Spartacus was a slave, of course he had problems with authority and got in trouble for rebelling... And I while I appreciate your efforts in trying to make some eloquent correlation or parallel between a roman slave and an ancient Greek state, there really is no significance to the argument other than they have similar names which is to be expected since both civilizations were rooted in Magna Graecia... You can theorize as much as your heart desires that his name is directly related to Sparta, but that's like saying medical terminology is directly paying homage to ancient Rome by utilizing the Latin language, because his name didn't become symbolic until he became a roman leader (Had he remained a slave, the correlation probably would never have been noted). Post hoc doesn't really work here. It is to be expected that Greece through Antiquity would carry into the next Empire just by the nature of evolution. rant off? I still think it is bizarre that we have romans, samurai and now celts. Bring on the Greeks?
  7. Excellent use of hypocrisy...since you seem to feel differently in the latter quote... Except for some rookie I stood by during simple gifts/america/whatever it is called who said "eat s#it crown," after Crown beat them... I would say 98% of the corps follows its protocol, with clear exceptions... but what corps doesn't have that problem. pressing on... When I MARCHED Boston, I recall a certain show where upon filing into the AOC arc, crown blatently mocked all of us by doing the check step halt. Speaking of class, I also remember an incident this past summer where members wore white bandannas on their arms symbolic of their first time beating regiment all summer. Just because the corps doesn't teach their corps to act like a bunch of jerks, doesn't mean they abstain from it. Good use of pseudo-scientific jargon... AND GO RED SOX!
  8. I was given absolute hell for leaving my corps to go to another div 1. My reasons for leaving had nothing to do with a dislike of the membership- I just hadn't found my niche so to speak. I am very happy with the decision I made. The way i see it-- drum corps is a completely selfless activity-- essentially all the hard work you put in is for the people around you, so If you are going to stick it out this demanding activity, I say that there is nothing wrong with trying new things to make the experience exactly what you want it to be. Some people never have to leave, and maybe that will be the case for you, who knows.
  9. It's funny 'cause if they did all these things you people reccomend, you would still undermine everything they do-- people are on here saying now Phantom does too much playing and moving? Are you out of your ####### minds?
  10. There were no Native Americans on the field... Both the guard uniforms were birds.
  11. Does anyone else think it sounds like "you got served?" Sweet moves everyone, sweet moves.
  12. My argument is just as valid as people who have supporting points.
  13. Maybe not so much a concept, but a revision... SCV's show should be titled "Threeve"
