  1. After seeing the Blue Stars and Crossmen compete neck and neck with eachother all season this year, I began to wonder which corps might be in that same situation next season where they are right next to each other in terms of scoring and placement. My tight grouping predictions for next season are the following: Blue Devils v.s. Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard v.s. Carolina Crown Bluecoats v.s. Cavailers Cadets v.s. Blue Knights Phantom Regiment v.s. Blue Knights Blue Stars v.s. Crossmen Madison Scouts v.s. Mandarins Troopers v.s. Colts Blue Devils B v.s. Vanguard Cadets Gold v.s. Golden Empire Seattle Cascades v.s. Jersey Surf Jersey Surf v.s. Pioneer Music City v.s. Genesis Battalion v.s. Columbians Impulse v.s. Shadow Shadow v.s. River City Rhythm Les Stentors v.s. Impulse Pacific Crest v.s. Oregon Crusaders Colts v.s. Academy Oregon Crusaders v.s. Spirit of Atlanta Again, these are just my predictions. What are your predictions? Do any of your predictions match any of mine? Do you agree or disagree with my predictions? Please comment in this thread and we will find out!
  2. Here are the schedules for tonight's two shows. A Blast in the Burg -- Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania 7:08 p.m. -- Impulse 7:24 p.m. -- Stentors 7:40 p.m. -- Raiders 7:56 p.m. -- Music City 8:12 p.m. intermission 8:37 p.m. -- 7th Regiment 8:53 p.m. -- Legends 9:09 p.m. -- Spartans (all times Eastern) Percussion on the Pearl -- Muscatine, Iowa 7:18 p.m. -- Guardians 7:36 p.m. -- Louisiana Stars 7:54 p.m. -- Colt Cadets 8:10 p.m. Intermission 8:26 p.m. -- Gold 8:42 p.m. -- Vanguard Cadets 8:58 p.m. -- Blue Devils B (all times Central) Guardians' position in the schedule will throw off the judges a bit, I would guess. Genesis, River City Regiment, and Shadow have the night off.
  3. Please use this thread to report from Legends Drum Corps Open -- Three Rivers, MI 7:08 p.m. LakeShoremen (SoundSport) 7:18 p.m. Les Stentors 7:34 p.m. Raiders 7:50 p.m. intermission 8:10 p.m. Music City 8:26 p.m. 7th Regiment 8:42 p.m. Legends (times are Eastern) or Show of Shows -- Waukesha, WI 7:23 p.m. Kilties (all age) 7:39 p.m. Shadow 7:55 p.m. Impulse 8:11 p.m. intermission 8:41 p.m. Colt Cadets 8:57 p.m. Spartans 9:13 p.m. Blue Devils (times are Central) There should be no rain at either show. Last night in Troy, Legends beat Spartans by 1.5 pts., so it will be very useful to see how close Spartans can get to BDB tonight. Not to mention to see how Music City does against O.C. corps after their strong showing Friday in Nashville.
  4. The show begins at 4:00 p.m. (PDT) at Bellflower High School. DCI shows the line-up in alphabetical order, which seems dubious to me. It would likely give an edge to SCVC over BDB, though. Here I order them by most recent score, lowest to highest: Incognito (40.800) Blue Devils C (46.750) Thunder (49.700) Impulse (53.150) Watchmen (54.500) Golden Empire (58.300) Gold (59.050) Blue Devils B (65.750) Vanguard Cadets (66.700) Will Thunder break 50? Will Impulse catch Watchmen? Will Golden Empire overtake Gold? Will Blue Devils B come out ahead of Vanguard Cadets? If you're there, please chime in!
  5. Surprised not to see a thread started yet for tonight's only show. Per DCI, the lineup is: Open Class Thunder Impulse Eruption Columbians World Class Cascades Oregon Crusaders Blue Knights Gates open at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. Blue Knights' Facebook page indicates their performance time is 9:01 p.m. The forecast is hot: temperatures in the upper 90s at show start. More details welcome!
  6. SoCal Classic Open Class Championship Rants Stadium at Gahr High School 11111 Artesia Blvd. Cerritos, CA 90703 Sunday, July 13 -- 4:00 p.m. PDT According to DCI, this is the performance order, to which I append yesterday's scores: (Edit: see below.) I'm surprised they don't use yesterday's order to determine today's. In any case, why is BDC on second-last? Why is SCVC fourth in the order? NWS says upper 80s and sunny. - - - - - - - - - - Update: given what cgmomma and OCGroupie report below, apparently the schedule is approximately as follows: 5:00 p.m. -- Incognito (45.05 7/12) 5:15 p.m. -- Blue Devils C (48.15 7/12) 5:30 p.m. -- Watchmen (49.55 7/12) 5:45 p.m. -- City Sound (50.90 7/12) 6:15 p.m. -- Golden Empire (57.60 7/12) 6:30 p.m. -- Impulse (58.05 7/12) 6:45 p.m. -- Gold (62.65 7/12) 7:00 p.m. -- Vanguard Cadets (67.70 7/12) 7:15 p.m. -- Blue Devils B (68.55 7/12)
  7. Gold Showcase at the Ranch Longhorn Stadium at Rancho Buena Vista High School 1601 Longhorn Dr. Vista, CA 92081 Saturday, July 12 -- 6:30 p.m. PDT Show Site According to the site this is the performance schedule: 6:37 p.m. -- Golden Empire 6:52 p.m. -- Watchmen 7:07 p.m. -- Incognito 7:22 p.m. -- SoCal Dream 7:37 p.m. -- Blue Devils C 8:07 p.m. -- City Sound 8:22 p.m. -- Impulse 8:37 p.m. -- Blue Devils B 8:52 p.m. -- Vanguard Cadets 9:07 p.m. -- Gold Is SoCal Dream (a DCA corps) really performing? In a normal season they would, but earlier this year, I thought they said they were taking a year off, and I see nothing about tonight's show on SCD's website or Facebook page. And yet, Gold today posted to their Facebook page that "all ten Open Class corps in California would be appearing", even though there are only nine. Very confusing. From the Pressbox does not show SoCal Dream appearing, but times there look suspect, since neither the first nor last corps' time is changed: instead FtP shows Blue Devils C performing in the middle of two intermissions. NWS says low 70s, partly cloudy, light breeze.
  8. Seven Open Class corps and one World Class corps tonight. Should have started at 6:00 p.m. PDT, with this line up: Incognito Golden Empire Blue Devils C City Sound Impulse Blue Devils B Vanguard Cadets Mandarins Plus some exhibition performances.
  9. In Corps at the Crest San Diego at Oceanside. I think this is the earliest that's happened for a while. Four of them are making their season debut (Gold, Impulse, Incognito, Watchmen). Three of them so new that DCP has no Topic Tags for them (Golden Empire, Incognito, Watchmen)--maybe it's time to swap out the tags for Forte and Revolution? Golden Empire got off to a strong start last week. Gold has been the third-best California O.C. corps the past two years. How will they stack up? If you're there, let us know how they're doing!
