  2. We now have an announcement. https://yea.org/news/cadets-usbands-move-forward I am providing this as a separate topic since many don't read >200 pages of the Cadets 2020 Topic.

  5. Hi everyone, After the recent events regarding the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, I have come to wonder what the future will be for the corps. I personally will say that the Cadets are an amazing corps and always put on a fun, entertaining show. However, now that the corps reputation has been badly damaged, I am fearing the worst. Many people who I have spoken to have said that people will not want to march Cadets because of everything that has happened. People are thinking that they don’t want to be part of a corps with a history of sexual harassment and assault. As a result of this, some
  6. The Cadets put out a DVD set honoring the 20th anniversary of their threepeat. Aside from the performances which are already available online, there are two fascinating conversations about how they got where they are -- or were. I think everything is uploaded properly (and I hope they leave it -- there's some great history here). My channel is Vee 10, and the first vid is at
  7. Hi everyone, As the summer of 2018 approaches, I thought that it would be nice to have a list of all the corps that will competing this summer. World Class Corps 1. The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps 2. The Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps 3. The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps 4. The Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps 5. The Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps 6. The Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps 7. The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps 8. Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps 9. The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps 10. The Colts Drum and Bug
  8. Hi everyone, Here is episode 4 of my match up series. Looking back at the 2017 season, one of the biggest story lines was that the Boston Crusaders beat the Cadets for the first time since 1979. The Boston Crusaders finished 6th and the Cadets finished 7th. Looking at both corps, the Cadets moved away from using uniforms and shakos and made the transition to costumes. Also, the Cadets bought back a show theme from an earlier show that they did in 1983. As for the Boston Crusaders, they kept wearing uniforms and stepped up their game competitively. They beat the cadets for the first t
  9. After seeing the Blue Stars and Crossmen compete neck and neck with eachother all season this year, I began to wonder which corps might be in that same situation next season where they are right next to each other in terms of scoring and placement. My tight grouping predictions for next season are the following: Blue Devils v.s. Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard v.s. Carolina Crown Bluecoats v.s. Cavailers Cadets v.s. Blue Knights Phantom Regiment v.s. Blue Knights Blue Stars v.s. Crossmen Madison Scouts v.s. Mandarins Troopers v.s. C
  10. Corps 12/24 will be the one that brought us a 12.25 show in the year '12. The Cadets seem to he the favorite corps to discuss for DCP so this thread is my holiday gift to the community. Enjoy! I am planning on posting my list sometime tomorrow but if I can't sleep maybe I will tackle it later tonight. What are your top 1-5 all time Cadets shows? (Optional) What are your 1-3 least favorites from them? You can go into as much or little detail as you like but please please try to keep things positive. For a quick recap in case you missed it and/or want to add your contri
  11. The 2017 drum corps season has started, and so has my show review season! I reviewed two shows for the June edition of Drum Corps World. The first was the DCI Tour Premiere cinecast on Thursday, June 22. The focus of that review was on the technical aspects of the cinecast. A separate review of the performances is also in the June issue. The second review was of the Innovations in Brass: Massillon show on Saturday, June 24. That review was a performance review of all 5 World Class and 2 SoundSport corps which performed that night. http://www.gaminnet.info/?p=3054
  12. I thought I'd start a new thread with the show's current title for the discussion of the actual show. The TV Listings for October 5th are available and this is what it says as a description of the first episode: (Source: Zap2It.com) Close Clash of the CorpsEpisode: Marchin Music's Major League Premiere Special PREMIERE NEW S01, E01 The Blue Devils and The Cadets struggle with auditions, training, and anxiety, but still find time to party.
  13. If you haven't seen the new, Blue Devils and The Cadets are filming a reality show in 2016 off-season and competition season. Let's play around with this. What areas will the producers be manipulating, er ... mining... for drama? What are the pitches? THE COMPETITION. They are going to have to feed on speculation until they meet. But when they meet, they spend almost the entire last 2 weeks of July head-to-head. (Schedule may not be entirely accurate. I did this very quickly) July 12th - Dekalb TOC July 18th - Warrensburg TOC July 22nd - Houston TOC July 23rd - S
  14. We have a handful of corps that have the talent to win gold, which is outstanding. The sheer number of great ideas this year is more than I've ever seen in DCI, and I've been watching (or marching) since the mid-80s. What pains me most is when show designs hobble great talent, that demoralize almost as much as inspire. What I love to see most is a show design that empowers MMs to achieve their highest potential as performers, as people, and as artists, making the show itself into a work of art that transcends the idiom of drum corps. Usually, it's the show concepts that either click, or f

  18. I feel like this question needs to be asked. What's your favorite vocal or vocal passage? I really dug the fast 1234 vocal with leg swings in the middle of crowns show last year. It made me uncomfortable in more of a curious way? Anyway the colts this season seem to be pushing the limits of their vocal cords with a constant stream of vocals to keep me interested. I heard that past presidents are even giving the vocals a shot in some shows. Having them in the show really makes it all the more genuine and official. Well the question still stands....tell me your favorite vocal! Everyone's opin

  20. Akron Cinecast Review Let’s start off with some disclaimers. I’m a guard person, and I’m much more active in the winter than in the summer. I have no musical training, so I can’t comment much on brass or percussion. I mostly watched the color guard and overall visual effect. With that out of the way, here we go. Cavaliers: I just could not get into this show because of the cheesiness factor. My guess is this show looks and feels much different under the lights, because during the day it felt comical and forced from the guard. The guard characterization was not right for me – I know that’s w
  21. Tonight 8pm EST - http://yea.org/2014-jtown2 Figured we could have a centralized location to talk about their show tonight and discuss any improvements or differences of opinion from the other day. By the way, if you haven't seen it, YEA has a new website and it looks pretty good. A needed upgrade in my opinion. Can't wait for the broadcast tonight - hopefully with NO rain and WITH some closer drill!! No unis though
