  4. Offered for sale is a collection of drum corps drumline writing that spans several decades from the 1970s to the 1990s. Cadences, warm-ups, exercises and random bids from some of the greatest percussion arrangers ever to put their beats on a football field for Drum Corps International, Drum Corps Midwest and dozens of other regional circuits back in the day. This collection is over 100 pages from percussion arrangers such as Marty Hurley, Tom Sorensen, Russ Weber, Dennis Delucia, John Wooton, Brian Dufour, Jeff Prosperie, Bart Dixion writing for corps such as Phantom Regiment, Pion

  7. After seeing the Blue Stars and Crossmen compete neck and neck with eachother all season this year, I began to wonder which corps might be in that same situation next season where they are right next to each other in terms of scoring and placement. My tight grouping predictions for next season are the following: Blue Devils v.s. Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard v.s. Carolina Crown Bluecoats v.s. Cavailers Cadets v.s. Blue Knights Phantom Regiment v.s. Blue Knights Blue Stars v.s. Crossmen Madison Scouts v.s. Mandarins Troopers v.s. C
  8. This may be a short thread. As of a few minutes ago, I'm getting reports from the area it's raining pretty bad. We'll see and hope for the best. World Class Phantom Regiment - 9:02 Madison Scouts - 8:45 Mandarins - 8:28 INT - 7:58 Pacific Crest - 7:41 Open Class Genesis - 7:24 Shadow - 7:07 I assume all times are local -- CDT. [i wish fromthepressbox.com would make it a little easier to cut and paste from their site.]
  9. I'm not one to be blown away by trailer music, but the last Star Wars TFA Trailer has been blowing my mind. With BD doing a Star Wars Duel of the Fates back 1999, why not this one. Perhaps Crown or BD could play an arrangement in the lot. I think I might arrange this myself, anyways Could you see these or other corps playing an arrangement of the this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCN9K_a-MpE

  11. I'm a junior, and most of my college choices are in or around the Chicago area (Northwestern, UChicago, Loyola) so I was thinking I'd audition for corps closer to there, like Colts or Phantom Regiment (but not this year). The thing is, I really wanted to do winter guard as well, and Northwestern doesn't have a winter guard anymore. I'd rather join a well-established organization but the problem is that there aren't any Independent Open or World guards in Chicago anymore. Phantom Regiment seemed to be a good choice but it doesn't look like they've been a functioning winter guard since 2007.
  12. Action Wipes all natural wet wipes is doing a sale for the new year, 20% off with code "FEST2015" This product is really useful for members and spectators all year round, for after rehearsals or at shows. Wet wipes that use all natural ingredients and can be repurposed later on after wash, smell great and don't leave a sticky residue like most baby wipes. Wish I had these when I was marching. http://actionwipes.com/
  13. I'm entering my senior year of high school and by the end of this marching season I will have had 4 years on flag and 2 on rifle and saber. I have never been in a winter guard, but am searching for one for this winter. I know I have a lot of practicing to do to make a world class corps. My long term goal is to be in Phantom Regiment, but obviously my chances of making that this year are slim to none. What is a good corps to audition for my first year? I will probably audition for Phantom anyway for the experience. I live in Wisconsin, but I can't bring myself to do Pioneer. Also, given that
  14. -i-a (Sorry; I see the title got cut off.) How many people here know the original 1952 Guy Mitchell recording? "And I've just gotta get five or ten ..." tenths in several captions, is doubtless what some of these corps are thinking, although one corps who is not thinking that is... "The Commandant's Own" aka The U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, who will be appearing in exhibition, at: DCI Pittsburgh Presented by Three Rivers Baldwin High School Stadium 4653 Clairton Blvd. (PA Route 51) Pittsburgh, PA 15236 Sunday, August 3, 2014 -- 7:00 p.m. Corps in performance order: --Cascades
  15. Is Phantom Regiment the only corps that has their drum major do more musical things such as cues, crescendos/decrescendos, and other added things. I plan on auditioning for drum major in DCI but i really enjoy the way PR's Drum Majors conduct and I was interested in knowing if any other corps does it. Thanks!!

  19. Akron Cinecast Review Let’s start off with some disclaimers. I’m a guard person, and I’m much more active in the winter than in the summer. I have no musical training, so I can’t comment much on brass or percussion. I mostly watched the color guard and overall visual effect. With that out of the way, here we go. Cavaliers: I just could not get into this show because of the cheesiness factor. My guess is this show looks and feels much different under the lights, because during the day it felt comical and forced from the guard. The guard characterization was not right for me – I know that’s w
