  4. Hi everyone, as part of my drum corps poll series, I’ve come up with my next match up. Throughout the 2017 season Pioneer and Jersey Surf went head to head at numerous competitions throughout the season. At the DCI World Championships, Pioneer finished 34th and Jersey Surf finished 27th. Even though there is a gap between the two, that gap might close up next season. Pioneer is on a mission to field a full Corps next season. Within the goal of marching a full corps next season, Pioneer has a goal of marching a full hornline of 80 brass next season. As of right now, they have 44 brass members r

  6. After seeing the Blue Stars and Crossmen compete neck and neck with eachother all season this year, I began to wonder which corps might be in that same situation next season where they are right next to each other in terms of scoring and placement. My tight grouping predictions for next season are the following: Blue Devils v.s. Santa Clara Vanguard Santa Clara Vanguard v.s. Carolina Crown Bluecoats v.s. Cavailers Cadets v.s. Blue Knights Phantom Regiment v.s. Blue Knights Blue Stars v.s. Crossmen Madison Scouts v.s. Mandarins Troopers v.s. C
  7. I thought it would be cool to start a weekly thread about what performances we loved and didn't love about each corps. For week 2 we are headed to New Jersey to celebrate and discuss Jersey Surf. What are your top 1-5 all time Jersey Surf shows? (Optional) What are your 1-3 least favorites from them? You can go into as much or little detail as you like but please please try to keep things positive! I am hoping to see a lot of love for the non top 12 corps!
  8. A couple of tight showdowns coming to DCI Arkansas (Little Rock). 1/10th separated Crossmen and Blue Stars and 5/100th separated OC and Mandarins in the previous evening at Broken Arrow, OK. Order of performance follows. 7:00 pm Mandarins 7:17 pm Jersey Surf 7:34 pm Pacific Crest 7:51 pm Oregon Crusaders 8:08 pm Colts 8:42 pm Crossmen 8:59 pm Blue Stars 9:16 pm Blue Knights 9:33 pm Santa Clara Vanguard
  9. Hello everyone! For those who haven't met me already, I'm Ronnie. Major Jersey Surf fan . It's come to my attention in the past few years of being a Surf fan, that there's a hug lack of corps merch available for them. Now whether or not it's just me not looking hard or not, I can't be sure. My question to you all is, are they only selling merch at shows, on a small scale, and if that isn't the case, where online can I find it? (by the way, if anyone has any Jersey Surf swag they'd like to show off here, like shirts or sweatshirts or anything, do share! I'd love to see them.) Thanks guys
  10. This is pretty cool. This guy marched Surf in 1999 and 2000 and is going to be competing on a Food Network show. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=59926316-63e7-4dd8-afd8-07e11a339e9c
  11. Where the address is not unknown. It's 500 E. Franklin Ave. That's right: there are two shows in Ohio tonight. Much attention has gone to the Tour of Champions show featuring seven corps in Massillon (which is where I'll be), but three hours to the southwest is a ten others are competing at the 35th annual installment of Soaring Sounds in Centerville, which is a suburb of Dayton. (However, there are even more corps, fifteen to be exact, competing in Indiana tonight, at the Open Class Prelims.) Here is the Soaring Sounds lineup: --Cincinnati Tradition (all age) --Academy --Jersey Surf --Pa
  12. Because most of these tiny shows get overlooked, and because I enjoyed it quite a lot, here is my review of Sunday's show! (Disclaimer: this review will likely be deficient in color guard and drumline commentary. I'd rather spare you "Wow, drumline's big" and "flags were nice but it was windy" because I admittedly don't have much expertise in these areas.) Legends: This was my first ever experience with Legends. I found the hornline to have a warm and nice sound, generally, however, the visual element definitely hurt the musical delivery. Granted it's early July, so there's still plenty of ti
  13. There are actually two shows in Illinois tonight. About 75 minutes west of Lisle, six corps compete in Dixon, where it looks likely the Colts will take first place. I don't see another thread for this show, so... Dixon Petunia Festival A.C. Bowers Field, Dixon High School Lincoln Statue Drive Dixon, IL 61021 Here's the lineup, with times again per From the Pressbox: 6:15 p.m. - Legends 6:32 p.m. - Genesis 6:49 p.m. - Colt Cadets 7:23 p.m. - Pioneer 7:40 p.m. - Jersey Surf 7:57 p.m. - Colts Remember once more that those are Central time.
