Briefcase?

Recommended Posts

The briefcase is a MacGuffin ... I plot device popularized by Alfred Hitchcock.

It's something that advances the plot without having any real relevance of its own ... Like the briefcase in "Pulp Fiction" whose contents were never revealed.
