JohnD
Welcome to the pressbox at DCA Preliminaries from PAETEC Park in Rochester NY. It is a beautiful day in Rochester, with bright sun and a brisk breeze - gorgeous in the sun. What a change from last year. We're getting things ready to bring you our live coverage from the stadium. On-hand will be: Kevin Gamin, DCP Managing News Editor; Doug Petersen (dugada); Jeff DeMello; Danielle; Galen; and a host of guest commentators throughout the weekend. We'll also be bringing you photos from the field shortly after each corps performs. Of-course, the best place to be to enjoy the DCA Championships is right here at PAETEC Park. The next-best place is here on DCP. Enjoy! -john
JohnD
Tom Peashey is handling the announcing duties today, in Fran Haring's absence. We understand that Fran WILL be here to announce Finals tomorrow. Tom is announcing the judging panel and the corps line-up.
kevingamin
White Sabers are lining up on the back of the field. They've changed their headgear for this year's show, "The Gladiator". National Anthem has played and the Sabers are coming onto the field. It's almost show time!
kevingamin
Some of the corps are carrying life-sized cutout silhouettes of people. I'm sensing an interesting visual effect coming.
kevingamin
Hornline members have placed their helmets on the silhouettes' heads. Unfortunately, the wind is not cooperating.

Galen
The wind has knocked a couple of the cutouts over before the show has started- hope that doesn't cause problems during the show.
kevingamin
"What time is it???" "SABER TIME!!! HUH!!!" Love the hype.
kevingamin
The flag silks look hand painted. Very nice.
Galen
Good slow build up to the first impact. Flags aren't affected by the wind so far.
