donbucs
I'm not sure of the source of that great write-up that Nanci used, but it failed to mention a few more credits:John's membership in the famous Air Force Academy Drum and Bugle Corps and its legendary drum quartet, his career as an instructor for several major junior corps including the Bridgemen and St. Lucy's, and his instructional and playing career with several alumni corps, including Archie, Cabs Alumni, and most recently the Yankee Rebels. He is also the Founder and President of the American Patriots Rudimental Drum Club, whose aim is to preserve the art of rudimental drumming as we know it. And on top of all that, he's an all-round nice guy to know! John, I salute you! He also popularized backsticking (Probably invented by John Dowlan) and was part of a snare line that included Tom Bitner and Rod Goodhart in the West Reading Police Cadets. That's where I met him. The Drum quartet can be heard on the 1965 Skyliners Fleetwood album. Other corps he taught were Blue Rock and Bucs Alumni. Yes he is a good guy. I interviewed him for the Buccaneers 50th Anniversay commemorative CD. He and Barb (also a drummer - from Rochester) live in Morgantown, Berks County, PA Donnie PS I'm going back to bed. I had to get to make a whiz and coudn't go back to sleep without checking this thread
