tomcavalieri
Wow I'm late to the conversation, but I was in the Robertones in the mid-late 70's and at that time, The American-Irish fife and drum corps out of Rockaway, NY were a powerhouse. I think they used to send 3 separate corps to local competitions.

The Fife and Drum activity was quite healthy in the NYC metropolitan area in those days and almost all of the units were church-sponsored. One of the very best was St. Camillus and that team produced many of the top rudimental drummers who later populated corps like Hawthorne, Skyliners, St. Rita's Brassmen and others.
