malletrockr12
I heard that there was an indoor guard show that Jersey Surf made an appearance at. Did anyone happen to catch their performance? If so, how did it look/sound? Have any of the other open class corps done previews yet?
Kamarag
Surf played a two selection exhibition at the end of the indoor guard finals show at the TIA Weekend in Wildwood on Sunday afternoon. After a weekend of percussion lines and indoor guards, I was really ready for something with brass, and Surf delivered. I was also very curious to hear the new Jupiter Quantum instruments. Surf was missing a few folks, but still brought 60 brass, a full pit and most of the battery. While they still have that "early May sound" and used a Dr Beat, I have to say I was very impressed with the overall sound of the Jupiter brass, especially the trumpets and tubas. Now, it's impossible to judge based on one indoor performance, but I'm starting to believe that the new Jupiter equipment will meet the company's goal of a professional sound at a very reasonable price. I'll be listening to the Jupiter hornlines this summer very closely, but I am initially very impressed. Penguin2688
I'll be listening to the Jupiter hornlines this summer very closely, but I am initially very impressed. With 2 72-piece Jupiter lines taking the field this summer, it should certainly be very interesting. I can't wait to hear it.
Kyle B
Are you sure they got their new brass line in yet? I thought it was still on its way getting to them.
Kamarag
Are you sure they got their new brass line in yet? I thought it was still on its way getting to them. They were playing on super-shiny brass that look exactly like the horns at the Jupiter Quantum website, as opposed to the old and worn set they have played on in the past. If those weren't the new horns, I would like to know what they used to shine the old ones! (And I was up close)

Which permutation is it? Academy + Teal? Academy + Surf? Surf + Teal?

Penguin2688
And yes, they were the new horns. They are pretty freakin' sexy. Seconded. Very sexy. Edited May 7, 2008 by Penguin2688
baritone9172
So can anyone DEFINITELY confirm these two Open Class corps having 72 brass each? It seems as though one of them definitely does as Penguin is clearly marching with one (most likely Surf according to his/her post history). It would make sense that Surf is marching 72 if they had 60 at a standstill. What about Teal? Pictures on their websites say approximately 60 but about 10 or so people could always be missing at camps when your hornline is that large. Anyone, anyone?
